No doubt you should take a look at her amazing development even in her next 3 NGT performances. Her a-capela version of Billie Holiday`s "I`m A Fool To Want You", then her great great cover of Nancy Sinatra`s (Cher`s original); - "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)", and then her breath-taking version of "Summertime" in the final. Her follow up at a big live outdoor event TV show "Allsang på grensen" (Sing allong at the boarder (Swedish/Norwegian boarder in Halden, Norway), as she did a legendary performance of the classic Dinah Washington`s "What A Difference A day Makes". At about 8 1/2 years old. Trough these 6 months she grew quite amazingly as an performer and a singer, as I see it. If you may belive that.
the favorite song of angelina is the last one you heard...at barely 9 years old " ...i put a spell on you " angelina is only person with guts to cover the original by screaming jay hawkins..watch original on merv griffin show b4 you react...will be shocked.... so raw...the musician smiling at start said " she was so polite she came in introduced herself shook our hands gave us her arrangement changes and said " these are my wishes" one of the musicians said that he was apprehensive at first but was calling her the boss at end...notice how polite and appreciative angelina is...u r fantastic...
Here is a quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Audions NTG 2014. "The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but" Gloomy Sunday "was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on TH-cam before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song "Glommy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song. " 💯 *AJ* 💯 BTW, Angelina's mother Sara said in an interview when Angelina was about 11/12 years old, *only Angelina chooses the songs and she only sings them the way she imagines* . 🤗🤗🤗

Love your reactions: "a storyteller" indeed... at a christmas concert at the end of 2021 there were some greats from the music business (multiple grammies between them etc ) and one who worked with Frank Sinatra said he thought Angelina to be the greatest singer-storyteller since Frank Sinatra....
This is what Gregg Field, eight time Grammy winner, said In Angelina’s on-line Christmas Concert: “You have a gift for storytelling like the greatest singers we worked with, certainly Bublé, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Luther Vandross. Basically they were wired so whatever they said, they meant. Frank famously said: “I never let my singing get in the way for my story telling”. And I was really impressed, you have got a natural musical ability, but for me it’s the ability to tell a story and you do it so organically and effortless and you are such a giant talent”
@@Tomas-Odebrant Thanks for reminding me of this amazing compliment ... I remember hearing it but not the exact words. Nice to know it's not just us fans who think she's exceptional! R (Australia)
You said it exactly.. she's a story teller. There are many great singers out there with great vocal ability, but something that really sets Angelina apart is her ability to not just sing a song, but to tell the story of the song. There are many songs that I heard all my life, but never fully understood them until this little girl from Norway came along and explained them to me properly. It seems impossible, but she has done it again and again over the years.
Yes, she was holding a stronger dynamic, because of the song. Whenever you get to hear her take take of “I who have nothing” at the age of 6, you’ll hear her belting. Absolutely incredible. Thanks for the reaction ❤.
Welcome to AJ rabbit hole, you will have life long journey to go. She is known to be the girl with a 1000 voices. She can sing any genre. Try “I put a spell on you”, age 9. “I’m still holding out for you “, age 10. Just to start.
I enjoy your insightful. analysis of Angela Jordan and look forward to then.. If you want to know how she sounds now I would suggest My Funny Valentine 2022.. I feel it is a vocal performance that will go down as an all time classic… If it is released on her new album I think she couldn’t least win the Grammy for Best.Jazz Vocal performance female th-cam.com/video/bWiLOnHJYxg/w-d-xo.html
For vocal coaches Angelina is a great artist to watch and study her development from start to up to date. I mean, look at her here at 7, she was the last contestant and she didn't show any fatigue nor uneasiness throughout. She showed determination, calmness, presence, confidence and even held that mic like a pro. I can't pick a favorite from Angelina for they are all good but I will suggest you continue to react to all her performances on NGT because each song gets better and better. Stick around for a while Nina because you will see how much of a butterfly she has become. Great reaction and hope to see you soon.
@@tommonsen965 Agreed. But I would go even further and say that her whole journey from aged 6 to 16 has been fascinating to watch. For a voice coach, Angelina's rise to stardom must be a rare opportunity to observe the transition from gifted child to world-class performer in forensic detail. R (Australia)
Abbie, an Italian reactor made a comment about Angelina that stuck with me. I wish I could remember his name and give him credit for this description, (paraphrasing) - Most singers born caterpillar and become butterfly. Angelina, she born butterfly and just add more colors to her wings every year.
When asked in a post-performance interview why she was crying backstage, her mother answered that she realized at that moment that she would have to share her daughter with the world. Thank you, Sara, for sharing your precious daughter with us.
For me Angelina Jordan's most impressive videos among many remarkable ones are the one of "What A Difference A Day Makes" live, she is 8; the one of "I'm Feeling" indoors, she is 10, the one of "My Funny Valentine" at home, same age (10). "It's a Man's Man's World" live, she is 12 years old. Her performance of "Bohemian Rhapsody" (2019, AJ 13 years old) at the American Got's Talent which earned her the congratulations of the still living musicians of "Queen", "You Make Me Feel So Young" (2019, AJ 13 years old), "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" (ditto), "Someone Like You" (ditto), "When You Believe" (2021, AJ, 15 years old), "Suspicious Minds" (2022, AJ 16 years old) , Mount Everest live in 2022 during one of her concerts in Norway. Have a nice trip to Angelina Jordan's country !
Keep in mind that Angelina was the last contestant of the day. Long day for a 7 year old! And she still killed it!!!! She is holding back, check out her I Who Have Nothing, she was 6 and a powerhouse!!
Brenda, I have been given the opportunity to extend an invite to you from the Angelina podcast, Wrapped in a Warm Blanket. Alan and Pontus want to have an episode where angels tell their favorite Angelina moment. The moment can be a lyric from a song, something she said or did or anything at all. Each angel will get 3 to 5 minutes chatting on camera with Alan and Pontus. Please let me know if you are interested. Tusen takk.
“I Put a Spell on You” has another amazing performance by Angelina 🔥
ปีที่แล้ว +1
Agreed. You mentioned that AJ appeared to have a vast repertoire in "Bohemian Rhapsody." Upon watching "I Put a Spell on You," you'll see just how accurate your observation was. It's a lively performance, with AJ arranging both the song and the music. Throughout the performance, you'll be struck by one outstanding idea after another. Be sure to research the history of the song, as there's an old TH-cam recording by Screaming Jay Hawkins that will enhance your understanding of AJ's interpretation.
One thing about that performance is that she had some of Billie Holiday's vocal mannerisms down. She used to sing along with her grandmother's record collection. If you want to skip ahead a bit, another stop on the journey is usually the black and white video of "I Put A Spell On You", when she was 9 yrs old, or still from N.G.Talent there is her "Summertime".
She was only 9 years old when she performed I Put A Spell On You. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, an American singer/songwriter. He wrote and performed it in 1956 and Angelina based her performance on the original, although she did make some subtle alterations to both lyrics and melody. As you continue your journey of discovering Angelina, you will come to realise that she does her own arrangements of most of the cover songs she sings. The differences may not be immediately discernible on first listening to them, but they are there. There may be a subtle change in tempo or tone, or more inflexion on some words, or a phrase may differ in pitch from the original. The amount of control that Angelina has over her voice cannot be measured. She never hurries a song. She sings in such a way that the emotions in the lyrics are felt by the listener. In this video did you notice:Angelina finishing some notes and handing them to the pianist, who smiled as he read them? They were her wishes (instructions) to the band how she wished therm to play the music. In the band, she was called a boss.
Great comments on a musical phenomenon named Angelina Jordan! Everyone's favorite song from her is usually the last one listened to! One characteristic you will soon realize (if you haven't already) is that when behind the microphone, Angelina is fearless. She rarely sings fast-food music and nearly always sings big iconic songs. Nothing is off-limits, and no artist is too unreachable. Her last concert in Norway had songs that originated in 8 of the last 9 decades (what 16yo singer shows such versatility). She picks these well-known songs IMO as a challenge to herself because they are quality platforms upon which she can introduce her magic. She has often said she is never nervous when singing and you are starting to appreciate why! Continue your AJ journey!!
You have always been one of my favorites on YT and im so happy to see you continue discovering Angelina 💖 Even with your advanced ears, you will probably need to hear 30-40 of her perfomances to fully grasp how talented she is. Not saying you need to do that here, its just to give you an idea of how much of her you havent seen. Thanks for this, cant wait for the next one, see you there! 🌹
The next round she did was an elimination round with no audience was just with the judges and all of the other contestants. They had to sing acapella. She did. I'm a Fool to Want You, by Billie Holiday. I believe it was the most amazing thing she did in that competition.
Nina I'm so happy that you decided to react to one of the great young singers in today's music. Angelina Jordan is the real deal. She's a humble, sincere, compassionate and loving soul who just likes to sing. Her jazz influenced childhood takes her on to a much different level as she is able to use her rasp, unique vibrato and her jazz influences to inhabit all the different genres that she's sings ! I would strongly suggest the mind-blowing video of her in the studio with her condition of Screamin Jay Hawkins ". I Put a Spell on You" at nine years old. This video is one of the most watched videos by Angelina and set me on my journey of joy and happiness that this young lady has brought to me in the last four or five years. I'm 71 years old and I will listen to her every single day of my life because that's what Angelina does for me. She is medicine for my soul. Personally, I want to thank you for your continuing support of this young artist and I hope you get to listen to many, many more reactions. But mostly your expert and intelligent commentary is what is needed on the TH-cam community. Keep posting and sending much love and thanks from Canada.👍👍🇨🇦🇨🇦❤️❤️❤️
Nina thanks for the wonderful and careful reaction. Her stage presence and performance is always top notch, she loves to sing live. Angelina's musical vision transcends the ordinary and she always manages to give an interpretive reading that makes us better understand and love the songs, in any age she is. This gorgeous girl truly has a musical knowledge and analytical ability that is beyond my comprehension. Her phrasing, backed by her wonderful use of breath, always fascinates me and gives me chills every time, despite the fact that she has listened to her hundreds of times. Angelina has a so wide list of interpretations, both in genre and style, that is really hard to give advice, but in jazz genre you could watch "I Put A Spell on You" at 9 years old or "I'd rather go blind" at 12 years old. 💛🧡❤

First thing would definitely be the journey through each round of NGT in order, then as another comment suggests 'I put a spell on you' and 'I'm still holding out for you' ❤
Angelina will be one of first new divas we will have video-chronicled nearly her entire life. At 16 & now 17yo, her tone has deepened, & her voice is finally growing into her always-present musicality.
Nina, thank you so much for viewing this video for all of us. I've seen it many, many times and I have to admit I enjoyed your reaction very much. I know how technical you can be and you did, indeed, point out some of her wonderful musical characteristics during the song but, like all of us of have done (including the judges!) before, you became overwhelmed by her voice with all it's soulfulness (at 7 years old!) with a hint of jazz. Her poise and confidence were so evident and she has been quoted as saying the most comfortable she is in her life is when she is singing for people and she hopes she is making them happy and feeling the love in her heart. Nina, once she touches your heart her love will never leave you. I am so happy you have read many of the comments from her fan base who simply adore her. I know you already understand Angelina is much more than a extraordinary singer. There is 'something' going on when you watch her and listen to her sing and every person she sings for has a 'personal' connection with her. She has no boundaries: Gender, age, color, language, religion, occupation, musical preference, it doesn't make any difference. She draws everyone 'in' . Personally, I join a large group of music lovers who openly state in all our years (and I've been around the block a few times!) we have never been touched by a singer like her who captures all our attention when she sings. As you pointed out she already possessed the ability to tell a story when she is singing at such an early age and her soulfulness turns to sounds of love in every word and every note and tearing up is a very normal reaction. What's so remarkable is that a listener can listen to the same song over and over again and the emotional connection never goes away.
@juliautnitskaya: Beautifully expressed ... thank you! I used to teach acting for the stage in a previous life and my classes focussed on creating a mental 'safe' space where the performance becomes real for the actor and, therefore, the audience. I think Angelina uses a similar technique ... the effect is like a form of telepathy ... receptive audience members feel as if she is inside their heads, messing with their emotions personally. 😊 R (Australia)
@@branscombeR Interesting. But, could she have acquired the technique when she was 7 and 8 years old? Because the results of your technique were evident then and would you agree the 'technique' is a natural attribute?
@@RobertDeMartin Of course! I am not suggesting for a moment that she's acquired any kind of 'technique' ... she's a natural. I'm simply commenting on the similarity I see between Angelina's early performances and the methods I taught to enable adult actors to inhabit their characters on stage without worrying about Walter Mitty syndrome taking over their off-stage lives! R (Australia)
@@branscombeR Thank you. I enjoyed our brief exchange very much. Your previous life surely was a lively one and I can see that your current life is very much alive with a thought provoking process which is brightening and entertaining.
Totally agree ! Angelina' has an inherent way that she is able to capture your heart and soul like no other singer ! You can listen to the same song over and over and over and over again and never ever tire of it ! It's amazing ! I think because she is an artist that I fell in love with from that first video I saw "I Put a Spell on You " at such a young age that she hypnotized, memorized and became part of my soul ! Her journey of joy and happiness makes me feel like a proud grandfather and very protective of this beautiful young woman ! I hope to see her live in concert one day and that is at the top of my bucket list ! At 71 years of age Angelina is my medicine for my soul and I like a daily dose or two for sure ! Take care ! 👍🇨🇦❤️
How about I who have nothing. AJ at 6 years old, first time in a recording studio. This was the first try. You won't believe how happy she was when she hit that first really big note. Other points of interest, she is reading in English, her 2nd language as she sings and delivers the absolutely best version of this song I have ever heard. Tom Jones, Billy King and Shirley Bassey all take a backseat to this little angel. Listen to the melancholy and longing in her voice. It is so incredibly heartfelt and just love it. I believe that we are witnessing a once in a generation talent. This child has been blessed by the hand of God and by doing so has blessed all those who hear her voice. Wishing you all, Peace and Calm Seas... ✌🛥
The thing that boggles my mind is her impeccable timing and subtle inflection at such a young age. It takes even the most accomplished singers years to refine those skills...amazing.
Watch all her Norway's Got Talent performances. Growth till her first really WOW performance George Gershwin's Summertime. Her next performance at NGT is an acapella performance of Billie Holiday 's I'm a Fool To Want You. Favorite? No such thing. Easier but not easy. My favorite in each year of her age. She has a repertoire approaching 200 covers (not counting tiktok, etc). Prepare for a deep dive down the rabbit hole.
As a vocal coach, you are in for a treat. The fact that we have this timeline of performances is a huge gift that keeps on giving. Angelina was at the top of the game at every age giving us music that not even the big record label stars were. I'm moved to tears by so much of Angelina's music, but one that her genius is really on display is STAY. She's around the age of 11 or 12, she's accompanied by guitarist Ivan Mendez and it's a first or second take. The deep emotion that she sings with is mind blowing considering she's reading the lyrics over her shoulder, her hand gestures show how deeply she's feeling the story. It is amazing even though everything Angelina does is amazing. I'll be watching your journey.
Angelina's singing here includes all sorts of subtle intonations and sound modulations that demonstrate a fantastic ability to listen and to reproduce sounds. In that regard, her NGT A cappella audition at 7 (I'm a fool to love you) is simply stunning. A minute and a half, a super slow measured pace you simply don't associate with a person her age, and she keeps the pitch to the last note. I would certainly love to see your reaction.
Nina, you are understanding this artist quite well after only two songs, and you are so right in saying it is great that we get to see the whole journey of hers. I think Angelina will be a huge megastar and be known worldwide. Her whole life has been captured on video and preserved by her family. Now we get to see the growth and development of this musical prodigy from her earliest ventures into the world of music. There is so much to see, and Angelina just turned seventeen.
Hi Nina, so glad ur reacting to Angie again. As for my favourite, like many it's often the last one she uploads, they're all so good I can't help but be overwhelmed at hearing anything she does. Many will say be chronological in ur journey, but any of her vast catalogue will impress. Maybe take a look at something from '22 like Suspicious Minds to be more up to date? There are many good video's from her concerts that year which also demo her amazing live performances.
Beautiful reaction Nina 😊 , she is one in a life time singer.I feel blessed that i'm alive to experience this amazing girl, now beautiful young woman ❤ One thing that's blows my mind , it's her incredible musical understanding at such an young age, in my 58 years i never seen this. Gonna love ur journey down the rabbit hole , then you see how amazing she really are, there are no artist alive today that can match Angelina PERIOD ❤❤❤ Have a great day , take care an stay safe 😊

This girl has the whole package in her voice. From this time on Angelina will simply explore what she already has in her voice and you can see this with every song she sings because they all have something different going on. Angelina has never had a vocal coach or teacher to this day. All the people around her her, family and music school just didn't see a need for voice lessons so was taught to play musical instruments instead.
Absolutely amazing prodigy, checkout Angelina on the same show with her winning performance of Summertime, love this artist I attended Angelina’s live concerts in Norway this previous summer, her stage presence was phenomenal her live performances outstanding, Angelina is so special, great reaction thanks 🙏
I always look forward to your reactions, especially with Angelina Jordan performances. I noticed in the comments here that there are many really good suggestions. I hope you will only choose from those which include a link to the performance. If you do a search on your own it's very easy to unknowingly pick a performance has poor quality audio or some other qualities that may not only frustrate you but, may also cause you to miss the version that is most popular (for many valid reasons). She will often have more than one version or performance of a song. Watching your reactions and comments about a performance is going to draw an enthusiastic crowd of us fans. I can hardly wait. 😊😊
I have seen a short clip of Angelina attempting to sing "Diamonds are Forever" she was about 3 or 4 years of age. I think it was of a compilation. Angelina did abetter job than many I have seen but think about someone of that ager want to sing the song.
You’re great. The rest of NGT are super some reviewers do the whole set of bang bang and summertime and the fully a cappella one. Her best is her Norway live version of her own song million miles. All her Adele covers are fabulous Suspicious minds cover is perhaps her best presentation
Welcome to the second visit you have made into the wonderful world of the most talented and versatile singer living today. That is not just my opinion, but is one shared by the many thousands of fans Angelina has. Thank you for posting a link to the original song. Perhaps you would consider posting links to Angelina's TH-cam Channels. Many Reactors are now doing this. If you considered doing this, it would benefit Angelina. Indeed, you could do a similar thing for all the artists you cover. The links to Angelina's channel are at the end of this comment. Someone will be along giving you a biography of Angelina to date, so I am going to suggest you react to the songs listed below. They are chosen to show you just how talented and versatile Angelina is. She has many "nicknames" - The Chameleon of Song, The Barefoot Princess with a 1,000 voices, etc., and as you listen to her, you will surely understand that they are a true reflection of her talent. The first song I have selected has become what is almost obligatory for new Reactors to feature on their channel. Angelina took as her base the original stage performance of the singer/songwriter, Screaming' Jay Hawkins, made some subtle changes to both lyrics and melody and produced a performance which, to me, has made it the definitive version of the song. Here is the link: age 9 - Studio Recording - "I put a spell on you": th-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/w-d-xo.html Angelina was a student at the Waldorf School, Oslo and took part in the After School program, where she used the school's recording studio for at least four performances. My favourite is listed below: age 6/7 - I who have nothing - th-cam.com/video/RjQZKBpVaes/w-d-xo.html I'll now recommend you react to her other three performance on Norway's Got Talent. You will be "gob smacked" at the almost unbelievable improvements she makes in both her singing and her stage presence in these performances. Here are the links. age 8 - Norway’s Got Talent - Judges' Cut-Off: "I’m a fool to want you" - th-cam.com/video/LXknLZDoRVQ/w-d-xo.html age 8 - Norway's Got Talent - Semi Final: "Bang Bang" - th-cam.com/video/pcBoB49Gxn8/w-d-xo.html age 8 - Norway's Got Talent - Final: "Summertime" - th-cam.com/video/443pBSpx5B4/w-d-xo.html It now becomes difficult as there are more incredible performances from Angelina at ages 8 -9, but I suggest two she did at the age of 10. I submit them because for me, it was the first time I realised that she had lost all the childishness from her voice and had the inalienable right to "stand tall" amongst all other professional singers and be judged accordingly. Here is a link to those performances. age 10 - "I'm still holding out for you" - th-cam.com/video/Dv8mjCh5iiE/w-d-xo.html age 10 - "Feelin' Good" - th-cam.com/video/p8kAL-sGJx8/w-d-xo.html Now I am going to skip three years and recommend a performance which goes from age 12 to her present age of 16. I didn't expect much from a 7-year-old. Just a cute little girl, all nervous, rushing the song in parts, hesitating and then stumbling over, or forgetting, her words and generally acting her age and doing her best to get through a childish song like "Twinkle, twinkle little star". What did I see? Well, it was a seven-year-old child, with wild hair and gaps in her mouth, where there once were baby teeth. And that was when the perception of seeing a "normal" child ended and things turned upside down. She confidently answered the questions put to her by a Judge. Declared she was going to sing a song by the legendary Billie Holiday. Gestured off-stage for the technician to start the music, and then started singing. The body of the 7-year-old was still there, but the voice wasn't. It was that of a 40-year-old black woman with years of experience singing blues and soul. I was surprised then, and that surprise is still with me, some seven years later. I have followed her career since I saw that first video on TH-cam and in the seven years she has been singing publicly she has mastered many musical genres, including Blues, Country, Disco, Jazz, Pop, R&B and Soul, EDM and Rock and covered songs first performed by many famous singers, like Adele, Whitney Houston, Nancy and Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Lana del Ray, Gloria Gaynor, Andy Williams, Elvis Presley, Louis Armstrong and many others. What is more extraordinary is that she takes ownership of every song she sings while still paying respect to the original. She never goes into unnecessary theatrics. Never sings those high or low notes unless they are absolutely necessary. Never projects herself in any performance which says "look how good I am". She just sings the song as she feels it is meant to be sung. And I'll add an even more extraordinary item for you to consider, to show how unique she is. She has the innate ability not only to sing a song as emotionally as the song deserves but to be able to communicate those same emotions to the listener. As I have noted, I have been following her career a long time and have listened to every interview she has given and every documentary about her and every performance she has ever given. What stands out for me is how a very shy and humble girl, in her normal life, can be transformed into the perfect vehicle for the song she has chosen to sing. Although the gift of singing and all her performances appear to be effortless, Angelina works very hard to ensure that the one she is going to record reflects what she sees as the correct way to meld both lyrics and melody. If you go to th-cam.com/channels/hM_lpT4shdnsez93QMJPig.html you will find many rehearsals where, not only do you get to see her rehearsing but being the "ordinary" girl she is (if indeed one is able to apply that adjective to her). Most of her performances are recorded in her home studio, either with background music or a single guitar. Most are done in one take. She treats the whole thing as a hobby. As we would have said when I was young. "There is no 'side' to her" She is completely transparent to the world. I will end this missive by urging you to source Angelina's performances from reputable TH-cam channels only. There are an increasing number of channel owners who have crawled out of the woodwork and are using Angelina's name and popularity only to make money, and any views those channels get are of no benefit to Angelina. I feel that your YT responses are some of the best because they are expressive and intelligent and that is particularly important when it comes to Angelina Jordan. She discovered or uncovered me about a year ago when I was caregiving for my partner of 47 years and who died just six months ago. The point here is that Angelina’s singing and presence in my life has been profound. Yes, her extraordinary singing, voice range, and overall performances are remarkable beyond compare, however, it is what you do with those attributes that creates the difference; hers is a poignant ability to touch people in the most profound places of their being. For me, it is not hyperbole to say that she has the ability to transcend being a superstar and to heighten our awareness of love, compassion, and, yes, our souls. Peace and love
Wonderful reaction and commentary. I always look forward to your videos. If you want to see Angelina singing even younger, Her first time in the studio at age 6 singing I who have Nothing is a stunner! To catch you up more to the present, a few months ago at age 16 in the studio, Suspicious Minds by Elvis. I think this will give you the greatest contrast of all. For some other favorites, A million miles, original, age 14 7th Heaven, original, age 15 What is life, original, age 11/12 Shield, original , age 12 I'm still holding out for you, demo, age 10 It's a man's world, age 12 Feeling good, Norwegian TV, age 10
There are two thatcher amazing. “I put a spell on you” and the Elvis cover “Suspicious Minds”. She was 9 when she did Spell on me and 16 when she did Suspicious minds. Both amazing performances
Hello, Nina enjoyed your professional comments and interest in Angelina Jordan's past. Angelina's Grandmother strongly influenced her love for Jazz music at a very early stage of her life. Her Grandmother took Angelina to a Recording Studio went she was 6 years old to experience recording in a professional environment for the first time. Angelina recorded " I Who Have Nothing," a big song for a 6 yrs old girl to sing in English; her native language is Norwegian. Angelina had trouble pronouncing some English words she hadn't learned in school. However, her performance was outstanding and adorable.
Thanks Nina and, congratulations for the very accurate review, if you decide to continue the journey with Angelina you will discover unique pearls donated by this fantastic musical talent, good travel and good life from Italy ... Massimo.
Nina, thx for your insightful comments for this performance. For me Angelina,s storytelling is a big part of what has drawn me to her music, she has at such a young age been able to suck you right into the songs she sings and impart what she feels to the audience, which a lot of really fine artists struggle with IMO. When you see Sara Astar, her mother crying backstage in this performance she has said it was because she knew at this very moment that she was going to have to share Angelina with the world, for which we are all grateful. Keep on with your journey thru this amazing young artists story. thx again.
Wonderful reaction/analysis. You will be amazed at anything that you select from Angelina’s extensive oeuvre, but a logical next step would be to react to the next three performances at Norway’s Got Talent (either separately or all together). They are all pretty brief. There is one video that has the three performances combined (as well as the announcement of her winning the show). I’ll let others suggest which links to use. Enjoy your Angelina discovery journey… I look forward to following along. ❤️👣
There is a very short clip of Angelina singing along to Whitney Houston at the age of 1 1/2. To listen to her 6 year old voice you would have to hear her rendition of "I Who Have Nothing" her first time in a studio. There are too many really good videos of Angelina to pick a favorite.
Nina, wonderful reaction, the next step has to be her NGT other 3 songs, and you will notice the growth in between each one. Then, at age 9, her masterpiece, I Put A Spell On You. She is the most amazing singer I have ever listened to.
Thank you for your reaction. For most of us the last song of Angelina that we listen to is the favourite song. Listen to her performance in a studio when she was 6 to " I who have nothing ".
Wonderful reaction. You ask for the favorite songs? I started with a list of top 10 songs. After hearing and seeing almost all the songs in YT, there are no favorite songs left. Just one more favorite artist and I don't give a damn what she sings. Everything sounds wonderful to me. But if I had to single out a few that particularly impressed me as well, the next song on NGT is undoubtedly one of them. I'm a fool to want you. Acapella sung by little Angelina and just fantastic. There are two versions, one uncut and one with a cut. And it continues with I put a spell on you. A 9 year old with her own arrangement as a tribute to the original singer Screaming Jay Hawkins.... A rehearsal also totally intrigued me and shows me how a child prodigy works. From 2014 when she was 8 and she is totally dissatisfied with the music and a short time later you can hear why after she apparently said what bothers her. The rehearsal below is worlds better because the annoying piano bar is gone (th-cam.com/video/VU_dbECo_5g/w-d-xo.html) but if I carry on now I'll soon have all her songs listed here... ; -)
Favorite one, there are so many... but I will split it up to pre AGT versus post AGT. It seems that ten-year-old Angelina was a massive year for her development and performances and at the end of her 10th year she did a song, which ended up being a demo, but team Angelina never picked it up to release it unfortunately, as an original for her.... that song is titled "I'm Still Holding Out for You". And I am going to close out and go listen to it again right now because it's been about a month of hectic distractions for me, and I really need it right now.....
I so greatly enjoy watching the look of stunned surprise on you voice coaches’ faces when Angelina begins to sing. There is the same look of shock, awe and disbelief on your faces. It’s because you’ve never experienced hearing a child this young deliver a performance this mature. As a coach you know that what Angelina has is not teachable. It becomes readily apparent that this young girl is a bona fide musical genius. Angelina was gifted with a highly developed musical intellect, instincts, intuition, sensitivity and a keen ear. It’s these attributes that sets her apart from the herd of aspiring young singers. IMO, Angelina is the most uniquely gifted and talented of any young female singer I’ve heard to date.
Yes, she is so amazing! Such a joy to listen to and follow her journey. My favorite is her cover of Elvis' Suspicious Minds. The performance and the video is so amazing. And with Lisa Marie just passing, AJ's version is such a memorial to the woman of Elvis' life. 🧡🧡🧡🧡
I really enjoyed your reaction, and I'm glad you watched the whole video.... The climb on the chair and all of it. PS she is now 6'1" tall and could grow more. Thank you Much! 😀
New subscriber - thanks to you for taking the time to go back to Angelina's NGT audition & your great reaction, analysis & appreciation of her performance. Highly recommend the other 3 of her NGT performances: I'm A Fool To Want You, Bang Bang & Summertime. Each is amazing & you will see her growth - both musically & physically - as she continues in the competition. And - in order to really appreciate her raw talent, you need to watch her black & white performance of I Put A Spell On You (which she also arranged) - at age 9. Thank you. And may GOD continue to watch over & bless Angelina Jordan.
All her following performances showed her quick development and with the final song.. Summertime from Georges Gershwin you understand why she won NGT in a beautiful landslide. My favorite is her own song Million Miles in her last version from Kongsberg Norway last summer th-cam.com/video/joKQeVbThzE/w-d-xo.html A very impressive dynamic emotional teardropper 😢
Great reaction thanks 🙏 I can’t emphasise enough you need to checkout Angelina’s arrangement of (I Put A Spell On You)Angelina was 9 years old and commanded the performance paying tribute to Screaming J Hawkins the original artist, most or us pop out of the womb crying, Angelina came out singing !
Its hard to decide on a favorite song from Angelina, as she’s uniformly excellent. It comes down more to whether you’re a fan of the genre of a specific song or like the particular song as compared to others. I would like to hear you review the other Norway’s Got Talent songs that Angelina sings, then work your way through her vast catalog of covers and original songs. I Put A Spell On You in black and white at age 9 is truly special, and her original Million Miles is devastating if you have any experience of grief in your life.
I subbed last time because of the wonderful work you do, you do not disappoint and neither does Angelina. I have listened to her thousands of times because I can't make up my mind on a favorite song, she is just my favorite. You will have amazing suggestions, just continue to react for us. Thumbs up Nina, see you on the next one.
Such a wonderful reaction, Nina. You mange to strike the balance between a grounded response and true excitement. Keep up the tenderness and innocence in your comments!
Nina, this young gentleman was the protégé of one Michael Jackson, his name is Omer Bhati. To this very day he is a fast friend of Angelina and her family. Angelina told in a interview at the time, she randomly decided to sing this song of her idol Billy Holliday. Be safe, healthy and happy. Elmar from Germany.
Consider that you just listened to a seven year old who is recorded singing at eighteen months of age. Is seen scrolling through TH-cam looking for Jazz artists to listen to for hours. States at three she wants to sing on that Simon show. Enters school at four taking normal classes and enrolls in after school music program. Begins to learn piano, violin, and flute. At five is studying music theory speaking three languages, Norwegian, Persian and English. Tells her Mother she wants to sing at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert. At six is reading English and is fluent in her abilities. Enters sound booth and records four songs, Rolling In The Deep, Hurt, Sky Fall and most notable I Who Have Nothing which is well worth reacting to. You have embarked on a journey that will never end.
When professionals, such as yourself, recognize the depths of Angelina's talent, there is a certain verification of what we all know to be true. That is, this ain't her first rodeo and we would do well in understanding how this happens. I look forward to following your journey with Angelina.
Like most of AJ fans ,her next song becomes our new favorite her performance at maybe age 10 of feeling Good ,live with a band is very close to unbelievable ,enjoyed your reaction, thank you
Loved the reaction, Nina! You mentioned that it would be good to see where she started. While there is video of her singing Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" at the age of one and a half, I'd suggest starting a bit later. 😄 She participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program. They had a recording studio, and one of her very early videos is of Angelina singing the Ben E, King classic "I Who Have Nothing" although her take on it is more similar to the Tom Jones cover. th-cam.com/video/RjQZKBpVaes/w-d-xo.html A lot of people think she was six years old for that one, but I believe she had just recently turned seven. She is definitely younger that the NGT performances. What you'll see is that she had greater dynamic range, that she simply chose not to use in "Gloomy Sunday" because that wasn't the interpretation she wanted for this song. Thanks for the reaction! By the way, "Who Is She?" is terrific! ❤👏
Angelina's performance of "I Who Have Nothing" was apparently inspired by this Shirley Bassey performance: watch?v=jmOCDc3xLCs It was quite something to take on at such a young age.
Gary, I have been given the opportunity to extend an invite to you from the Angelina podcast, Wrapped in a Warm Blanket. Alan and Pontus want to have an episode where angels tell their favorite Angelina moment. The moment can be a lyric from a song, something she said or did or anything at all. Each angel will get 3 to 5 minutes chatting on camera with Alan and Pontus. Please let me know if you are interested. Tusen takk.
@@andyschnell58 Thanks Andy. I’m familiar with the podcast and have seen every episode. I’m flattered, but not sure I have the technical expertise to do it.
@@gary-white- Thanks for your reply Gary. All you need is a webcam and microphone. All laptops have both. I think a smartphone could also work. If you want more details then please email Alan Papier. You can get his address by visiting his channel and going to the About page. Please let me know what you decide.
If you want to know about her pitch perfect, listen to the next test in NGT, she sang a capella I"m a fool to want you ... My favorite songs by AJ ... tough question ! I would say "What a difference a dat makes" live at 8, then "California dream'in", then "Stay", and finally "Million miles" live in summer 2022 why the last shout which was anger/despear/acceptance at the same time and wich resonate across all continent I presume ! 🙂
That is very similar to what my list would be... I sometimes say that if I was absolutely forced to pick a favourite performance of AJ's it would be her live "What a Difference a Day Makes" at 8, as every single time I listen to that it is a thrill when her voice comes in, and continuous joy to watch her calm, poised and beautiful singing... (I would add Every Time We Say Goodbye at 10 too... the one sung live on top of a building in Oslo before she left Norway for a while )
As a vocal coach, you would love Angelina's acapella version of "I Am A Fool To Want You" by Billie Holiday, which was the second song Angelina performed on NGT. th-cam.com/video/LXknLZDoRVQ/w-d-xo.html
Hi Nina! First a few things about you. You have such a warm and inviting persona, I can see people joining you for discussion of any topic. You speak to the camera with such ease and familiarity. It truly seems you are speaking to me. I dont know if this comes naturally to you or if you have worked on it, but either way, you have a gift. With regards to Angelina- well here is another gifted person, as you have recognized right out of the gate. Your commentary and reaction was not only on the money, it was inviting and engaging. I love seeing a gifted person talking about a gifted person. For a next song, I'd suggest any of the 100 in my top 10. Since you are at her beginnings, you might want to check out the remainder of her NGT performances. There is a video out that has all of them joined together. Or as others have/will suggest, go even earlier to her doing I who have nothing. Obviously, the earlier you go, the less refined it will be and there are some pitchy parts in this, but you just have a hard time getting your head around what she CAN do at 6! Pick anything you like, really. You cant go wrong.
Thank you so much for your kind comment! It makes me happy to hear it feels like I’m talking to you directly as a friend, that’s exactly what I hope to do with my videos ❤
Another good reaction (of course). What 7 year old chooses "Gloomy Sunday"? You asked about favorites. It is so difficult because there are so many. My number 1 started at "Bohemian Rhapsody" and remains so today. My number 2 is in the finals of this competition, NGT,. "Summertime". Her old school vibrato, her mature sound, her confidence, her upglide in the repeated verse, her end notes-- simply spectacular! And my number 3 is "I Put a Spell On You" at age 9. A masterpiece on all levels. After that, I have more than a couple dozen that I call number "4". Most of her most recent performances have jumped into that ever-increasing group. Love, love, love "Suspicious Minds" and "Mt. Everest", but not more than "It's a Man's World" or "I Feel Good" or...haha, the list goes on. Have fun on this journey. This star is about to explode and the universe will never be the same.
I wished you had Reacted to all four of her songs at once, then you could have seen how fast her voice changed between 7 and 8. It was amazing. Same has happened every year since she was six (when she sang at a recording studio, until now at 10.
What you’ll see as you watch more is her unique ability to cover so many genres effortlessly and authentically. You have cracked the door open just an inch or so. Watch Angelina at any age, any title, any genre-that’s how good she is. She was channeling Billie here, but watch in this same NGT competition when she switches genres and voices completely with her own take on the 60’s Cher/Nancy Sinatra song, Bang, Bang. Angelina just kills melancholy lyrics and stuns judges, even at this age. Here’s the link: th-cam.com/video/3koih2RDIBA/w-d-xo.html Or, of course, if you want to dive into the deep end of the pool, go right to Angelina, at 9, with her truly incredible take on old school blues with her live recording studio cover of I Put a Spell on You. th-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/w-d-xo.html It’s Hall of Fame material.
Me again, I sincerely recommend to follow Norways Got Talent, because it is astounding, afterwards, please do "What a difference a day makes" when she is 8 years old. A few weeks after being introduces on national TV, Angelina Jordan Astar was declared, the national treasure of Norway, (its like being enobled in Norway) by the king and the government. To this day, the musicians and artist of Scandinavia, see it as a honor to work with or for her. I hope I could help you out. Elmar.
So excited to be back watching Angelina Jordan! What should I watch next? ❤
The final performance of NGT, AJ performance of Summertime, turned 8 then and listen to the improvement then ❤️
You should react to “Melt - Inside (Official Music Video)”. Their singer is amazing too! 😊
U NEED to listen to this (she's 9 years old here) "I put a spell on you": th-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/w-d-xo.html
Can`t wait for your next one on Angelina 👣 our singing Mozart, I think. Great reactions Nina. 🤗🙏
This girl from Norway IS THE voice of our generation. WAIT!! Wait until you see more of her.
the favorite song of angelina is the last one you heard...at barely 9 years old " ...i put a spell on you " angelina is only person with guts to cover the original by screaming jay hawkins..watch original on merv griffin show b4 you react...will be shocked.... so raw...the musician smiling at start said " she was so polite she came in introduced herself shook our hands gave us her arrangement changes and said " these are my wishes" one of the musicians said that he was apprehensive at first but was calling her the boss at end...notice how polite and appreciative angelina is...u r fantastic...

Did you get my invite to be on the AJ podcast, Wrapped in a Warm Blanket"??
Love your reactions: "a storyteller" indeed... at a christmas concert at the end of 2021 there were some greats from the music business (multiple grammies between them etc ) and one who worked with Frank Sinatra said he thought Angelina to be the greatest singer-storyteller since Frank Sinatra....
This is what Gregg Field, eight time Grammy winner, said In Angelina’s on-line Christmas Concert:
“You have a gift for storytelling like the greatest singers we worked with, certainly Bublé, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Luther Vandross.
It seems impossible, but she has done it again and again over the years.
...........👆👆👆 Now...........🎁🎸🎸
Yes, she was holding a stronger dynamic, because of the song. Whenever you get to hear her take take of “I who have nothing” at the age of 6, you’ll hear her belting. Absolutely incredible. Thanks for the reaction ❤.
Thanks for watching!
This one is more of the beginning.
Thanks so much for watching!
I second that what Abbie said, at every performance she get's better an better 🥰
@@tommonsen965 Thank you Tom ☺
What a Difference is unbelievably good, in my top 3!
Keep in mind that Angelina was the last contestant of the day. Long day for a 7 year old! And she still killed it!!!! She is holding back, check out her I Who Have Nothing, she was 6 and a powerhouse!!

“I Put a Spell on You” has another amazing performance by Angelina 🔥
I'll be watching your reactions!! So many to watch, like Summertime, Feeling Good, I'm Holding Out For You.
She has music in her DNA. That vibrato, the raspyness, the fragile in her performance... moves my heart to watch that.

First thing would definitely be the journey through each round of NGT in order, then as another comment suggests 'I put a spell on you' and 'I'm still holding out for you' ❤
Suspicious minds. Great current song showcasing her amazing mature voice. You can’t go wrong picking her songs
Take care ! 👍🇨🇦❤️
You’re good! “she’s a story teller”..nailed it!
Wishing you all,
Peace and Calm Seas...

She certainly does have that special something! Lovely reaction to this amazing performance!
Welcome to the the world of Angelina. ❤
Favourite Angelina performance? Are you kidding ?I got like 30 songs in my top 5. about 100 in top 10.
The thing that boggles my mind is her impeccable timing and subtle inflection at such a young age. It takes even the most accomplished singers years to refine those skills...amazing.

Thanks!
❤️❤️

TOM, I have been given the opportunity to extend an invite to you from the Angelina podcast, Wrapped in a Warm Blanket. Alan and Pontus want to have an episode where angels tell their favorite Angelina moment. The moment can be a lyric from a song, something she said or did or anything at all. Each angel will get 3 to 5 minutes chatting on camera with Alan and Pontus. Please let me know if you are interested. Tusen takk.
@@andyschnell58 Hi Andy ...mb depends on what time / date this will happen 🤔

So happy u found her as well 🌷🌷🌷Greatings from an old Danish Dear and Angel 🌷🇩🇰❤️
You’re great. The rest of NGT are super some reviewers do the whole set of bang bang and summertime and the fully a cappella one. Her best is her Norway live version of her own song million miles. All her Adele covers are fabulous Suspicious minds cover is perhaps her best presentation
Thank you for your appreciation of this delightful young lady whose singing touches our soul.

Oh, my! You will really enjoy following Angelina’s progress! She is a gift from the heavens!
Here is the link:
age 9 - Studio Recording - "I put a spell on you": th-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/w-d-xo.html
Angelina was a student at the Waldorf School, Oslo and took part in the After School program, where she used the school's recording studio for at least four performances. My favourite is listed below:
age 6/7 - I who have nothing - th-cam.com/video/RjQZKBpVaes/w-d-xo.html
I'll now recommend you react to her other three performance on Norway's Got Talent. You will be "gob smacked" at the almost unbelievable improvements she makes in both her singing and her stage presence in these performances. Here are the links.
age 8 - Norway’s Got Talent - Judges' Cut-Off: "I’m a fool to want you" - th-cam.com/video/LXknLZDoRVQ/w-d-xo.html
age 8 - Norway's Got Talent - Semi Final: "Bang Bang" - th-cam.com/video/pcBoB49Gxn8/w-d-xo.html
age 8 - Norway's Got Talent - Final: "Summertime" - th-cam.com/video/443pBSpx5B4/w-d-xo.html
It now becomes difficult as there are more incredible performances from Angelina at ages 8 -9, but I suggest two she did at the age of 10. I submit them because for me, it was the first time I realised that she had lost all the childishness from her voice and had the inalienable right to "stand tall" amongst all other professional singers and be judged accordingly. Here is a link to those performances.
age 10 - "I'm still holding out for you" - th-cam.com/video/Dv8mjCh5iiE/w-d-xo.html
age 10 - "Feelin' Good" - th-cam.com/video/p8kAL-sGJx8/w-d-xo.html
Now I am going to skip three years and recommend a performance which goes from age 12 to her present age of 16. Here are the links.
age 12 - "I’d Rather Go Blind" - (Etta James cover) th-cam.com/video/pK8mMXQb3_I/w-d-xo.html
age 12 -"Million years ago" (Adele) - th-cam.com/video/QHLtZQ3sIwE/w-d-xo.html
age12 -"Wake me up" - (Avicii) - th-cam.com/video/-WlqAsWvoyU/w-d-xo.html
Three of her original songs
age 12 - "Shield" - th-cam.com/video/IUAvEoPxNvw/w-d-xo.html
age 14 - "Million Miles" (Live in Studio): th-cam.com/video/3KxvwuZ7oEM/w-d-xo.html
age 15 - "7th Heaven" - (Official Music Video) th-cam.com/video/9rLiWvwzbCA/w-d-xo.html
and three covers
age 15 - "All I ask" - (Adele Cover) th-cam.com/video/8gJuprckBxI/w-d-xo.html
age 15 - "Billie Jean" - (Michael Jackson cover) th-cam.com/video/xp67k9wk2Mw/w-d-xo.html
age 15 - "Easy on me" (Adele): th-cam.com/video/Mpw5Q76hWWE/w-d-xo.html
age 16 - "My funny Valentine" - th-cam.com/video/ETGLbsGDAI0/w-d-xo.html
I discovered Angelina shortly after she uploaded to TH-cam her initial audition on Norway's Got Talent in 2014, which was a few months before I celebrated my 83rd birthday, and I've been a devotee since hearing the performance.
Here is a list of channels which can be trusted.

Massimo.

Wonderful reaction. The next thing you watch should be her singing bang bang in the same competition. It’s wonderful.
And so, standing barfoot on a red Star, a New Star was born with the name Angelina Astar !!!
Keep on with your journey thru this amazing young artists story. thx again.
from the same comp she sang summertime it was breathtaking please react to it x
She is the most amazing singer I have ever listened to.
...........👆👆👆 Now...........🎁🎸🎸
Thank you for your reaction. For most of us the last song of Angelina that we listen to is the favourite song. Listen to her performance in a studio when she was 6 to " I who have nothing ".
@xninaschofield ?
Her second Song is in Acapella I'm a Fool To Want You. Totally Amazing 🤩
Great reaction. You need to do the rest of the Norways Got Talent right away so you get the full picture of Angelina Jordan's abilities at that age.

My favorite is her own song Million Miles in her last version from Kongsberg Norway last summer

A very impressive dynamic emotional teardropper 😢
Thank you for this second reaction. I just subscribed for more Angelina. I’ve got about 50 of her songs in my top ten so you choose!

New subscriber, I so enjoy watching someone who 'knows their stuff' react to Angelina. She is amazing.
Welcome to the family!
The judges could have easily said come back when you're 16.
But this audition became a crucial moment in her career.
What a wonderful treat you are in for
Consider that you just listened to a seven year old who is recorded singing at eighteen months of age.
Hi Nina, having a bit of trouble getting telegram to work
Like most of AJ fans ,her next song becomes our new favorite her performance at maybe age 10 of feeling Good ,live with a band is very close to unbelievable ,enjoyed your reaction, thank you

One of the best storytellers I’ve heard in my life. Great reaction. New subscriber as well.

A lot of people think she was six years old for that one, but I believe she had just recently turned seven.
Thank you so much for this, and also thanks for the kind words re Who Is She! Always lovely to hear from someone who has enjoyed my own music ❤
(I would add Every Time We Say Goodbye at 10 too... the one sung live on top of a building in Oslo before she left Norway for a while )
@@geoffreynorth9046 Yes and without forgetting the live on tv "At Last" (awfully difficult to sing: 10% vocal technique, 90% pure soul !)
@@fredt7518 yes indeed.... as soon as these considerations get going my list of top favourites grows and grows and grows.. :)
As a vocal coach, you would love Angelina's acapella version of "I Am A Fool To Want You" by Billie Holiday, which was the second song Angelina performed on NGT. th-cam.com/video/LXknLZDoRVQ/w-d-xo.html
Perhaps back-to-back with her later rendition of the same song at 11: th-cam.com/video/SGx0djXTXQk/w-d-xo.html

I truly appreciate & love your reaction
She is amazing. She also did 4 songs in a recording studio at the age of 6. My favorite, “I, who have nothing.”
So it's 10 years later and she dropped an EP of all original songs. Listening and reaction is a must! Enjoy!

Here’s the link: th-cam.com/video/3koih2RDIBA/w-d-xo.html
Or, of course, if you want to dive into the deep end of the pool, go right to Angelina, at 9, with her truly incredible take on old school blues with her live recording studio cover of I Put a Spell on You. th-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/w-d-xo.html It’s Hall of Fame material.
Elmar.
