  • Today I took my brand new feel free moken 12.5 out on the river. I highly suggest considering this kayak. I managed a few nice catfish and had a great evening on the river. Thanks for watching.

    Wise words. Lived it this week, caught a channel cat on a Bandit 300. Just when I got her in she death rolled and hooked my shorts with the crankbait and wrapped line everywhere. Had to pause to use one hand to turn into a boat wake before dealing with the fish

    I do the same kind of fishing you do. Small river catfishing. I was actually tossing around the idea of the outlaw vs the moken. Im super glad i found this video you made. You made up my mind real fast lol. Great video and some nice channels you caught!!

      Hey thanks man! There is Definitely perks to the outlaw, it was one of the most spacious and comfortable kayaks I’ve sat in. But for paddling in the river it’s not even comparable to the moken. After a season of moken ownership I’m incredibly happy with the purchase.

      @@TheRiverAddict yea I paddle up river a small river that is like that red river you where on. Not sure if I want a hat much of a work out to get up river lol. I'd love to have that high seat and all that room but after seeing your video I think the moken is more what I'm looking for. Thanks for the great video!!

      @@DryerOutdoors forsure, the nice thing about the moken is it has 2 levels for the seat. A high position for more comfortable angling and a low position for when you really wanna do some paddling and make some headway threw that current. Thanks have a good one

    Great video! Those were some nice channel cats! I have the same kayak in ocean blue camo. I'm very happy with the paddling performance and stability. I think it's pretty fast for a fishing kayak. I don't get as much water in mine than you do. I put a small Garmin fish finder with transducer and a small lithium battery in the pod and it works great! Also added the rudder and an anchor trolley. I mostly fish small lakes for trout and bass. I also fly fish, but what I like to do is sneak up on trout that are feeding on the surface and make a cast right to them. Works every time! The wheel in the keel makes loading and launching a breeze.

      @@user-uh3yb9vi3u that black box in front of me is feelfrees “transducer box” you can mount the transducer on the bottom of it and mount your screen on top all in that area. It’s a pretty slick invention. I use the Scotty track mounted arm for my fish finder. I do this because there’s a lot of shallow water that I fish where I don’t need a fish finder. I mostly use the black box for storage

    • @mrblueskynm3968
      @mrblueskynm3968 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@user-uh3yb9vi3u This kayak is perfect for lake fishing of all sorts. The sonar pod that comes with the Feelfree Moken 12.5, V2 is designed to have the transducer mounted on the bottom of the sonar pod. You could install a hanging mount if you want to use a large fish finder. I purchased a small Garmin Striker 4 fish finder. It all fits perfectly on the sonar pod for a price of under $200. I mounted the Garmin Striker 4 transducer on the bottom of the sonar pod. The small lithium ion battery and wiring are located inside the sonar pod. The screen of the unit is mounted on the top of the sonar pod. It is now an all in one sonar unit that is easily removed and stored separately from the kayak. I troll with spoons, lures and flies for trout all the time with ease. I usually troll around 1 mph by just casual paddle strokes, but I can reach speeds of up to 3 mph. This kayak is not slow and it is not tippy, especially if the seat is in the low position.The only downside about this kayak is that you have to buy adapter rail mounts to install non OEM gear such as rod holders. I got 4 for $25 on Amazon a couple of years ago and have only used one for the rod holder.

    Great job on the review. I really like the Moken but that pod between the legs is almost a deal breaker for me. I want to use mine to stand and fly fish out of and that lob would get in my way. Hey I love to catfish so what bait are you using? Thanks for the video.

      Thanks for the comments, I’m using goldeye. And I Agree, I don’t think this would be the kayak for you if that is your intent. If you were to remove that black pod between your feet, is it open down into the water or is it just a closed storage area? I was hoping you could mount a transducer to the bottom of the pod and just drop it into the water.

    I have been told that the newer Moken 12.5‘s have the moulded in handle on the back in addition to the handle strap so that it is easier when tying the kayak down. I am really hoping that they change the handle so that it’s more like the one on the front. Do you know anything about this?

    • @TheRiverAddict
      @TheRiverAddict  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The (moken 12.5 v2) that I have has a molded handle in the front and two molded handles on the side right by the seat. On the back it just has a handle strap, not a molded one. I feel the current one has optimal spots to tie it down.
      If your referring to a new moken that’s not out yet, I’m not too sure sorry.
