    Nice imagery and video work.
Some advice when you are winching though especially when under load. Let the winch do the woork, dont drive at the same time. Not in gear, RPM about 1500.
Winch pulls big amps and will drain battery, higher RPM allows battery to recover. Low mount wiches need time to dissipate heat from the drum when loaded.
Best practice is 30 seconds on, 30 seconds rest and repeat. Big loads, use a snatch block, reduces the load and gives you a 2:1 advantage.
If you drive, create slack in the rope and then loose traction, vehicle roll back will cause a shock load onthe winch. May break rope or gearing in the winch.
Well done on assisting your "new" friends.
    Cheers
    John

I found myself with a scary rear right wheel lift at that very spot, while heading down a couple of years ago. The front slid down the smooth rock shelf, nothing I could do. Thankfully I could still turn into the slide to keep from going over. Scared the bejingers out of us!

A great video, magnificent country side and challenging terrain, highlights the necessity for a winch.
Great meeting you both and please call in and stay again. Thanks for helping out. Cheers Rosalie.

Thanks very much Rosalie! We’ll be back again another day to visit the ‘best camp site’ in Dargo!

It looks like your awning has rain tie down tabs between each arm. If your run a rope of each one the water should drain away and not pool. It also helps with securing the awning if it gets windy. Thanks for sharing

I swear there are 2 types of people in the world.
Those who swim in any water no matter the temperature and us normal people who wont go near it when its cold

Another good episode. If it makes you feel any better, it’s the worst BG’s has been in years.
But then when you said zigzag back to Dargo, I had a chuckle … if it’s been raining down BG is the easiest why back to Dargo. That Junction Spur in heavy rain is impassable.

Enjoyed the video thanks. The depth of some of the river crossings was impressive. Can I ask what mods you've done, to snorkel, air box breathers etc.? And well done with the Billy Goats incident - was the correct strategy to get out and look at the situation from outside the vehicle.

Thanks mate! Nothing too fancy & over the top in regards to mods, just an Ironman snorkel with stock Isuzu air box. We also have extended diff & transfer case breathers up under the bonnet.
Thanks for the feedback re. Billy Goat too! I’ve seen situations like that go pear shaped too easily and especially being solo, there’s no harm in being safe & sensible.
      Happy travels!

Good vid mate. What time of year was this? Feb/March?
Planning Crooked River on the bikes so trying to gauge what water depth will be like.

Hi mate, this was late December. If the water is as deep as it was when we did it, it would be impassable on bikes

Near impossible to gauge water depth in relation to any particular month , watch the weather is your best way of gauging river depths.

good vid guys, rules 1 should never cause ahockload on on the winch/rope but keep tension on all times, so you wont break it.
