- Dutch friends Carel van Helsdingen and Alex Zeeman team up to build the world's ultimate custom Land Rover Defenders, many LS3-powered with 500+hp.
If you can dream it, TopHat can build it. Europe is home to many classic Defenders that serve as the perfect canvas for a unique and modern build that honors the looks and design of the original, but is updated with all of today's creature comforts and power.
With Carel's background in business and Alex's expertise in mechanics, TopHat systematically pushes the boundaries of what can be done in a 25 year old defender, from developing custom adapter plates in CAD to a custom suspension in partnership with Koni to handle the power.
TopHat is based in both the Netherlands & United States in Arizona. Order's are built in the Netherlands and then shipped to the US for finishing due to import regulations.
Having completed more than two-dozen builds in the past few years, Carel and Alex continue to improve their designs and continue to tackle the challenges associated with building customers whatever they can dream up.

i love costume made landrover but the only thing i wonder how you have managed to deal with dust as the door design are not good like those of landcruiser a lot of dust came in

I love Defenders. Another company that I love is 'Twisted Performance'. They sound like the UK equivalent to you. They inspired me to do a similar thing but starting with the Japanese Defender otherwise know as the Fourtrak. In the UK they say that when the Defender brakes down the Fourtrak will pull them out.
