Ok, a month ago I bought the 22” Blackstone that we will take camping. I enjoyed cooking on it so much that my wife recommended getting a 36” for my birthday and I just picked it up today.WalTwins, you have been my inspiration. I have cooked awesome smash burgers, teppanyaki, breakfasts, cheese steaks and Pad Thai. These griddles are like crack for cooks. Please keep up the videos, you guys are fun to watch.
Wow!! That is so amazing!! Thank you so much - not only for watching, but for the love fam! So exciting, the new 36” we can’t wait!!! Much love - we will keep the cooks coming!!🤙🤙🔥🔥
I FINALLY seasoned my griddle today. It's a 22in, but the cooking surface was like 98% good after the second seasoning. Much love and appreciation on your videos. I watch them all the time and learn new things. I wish you was here with me to see all the magic happen. I would of made you proud after watching and listen to your video's. Can't wait to make my own first cook! I live in West Virginia and weather was trash! Couldn't wait much longer. Thanks.
Yes!! Congratulations man! So happy you were finally able to get it up and running!! If we ever do a road trip, we’ll swing through West Virginia for sure!!🔥🔥🤙🤙
Perfect video for first time griddle owner.... just seasoned my 36" griddle and I cant wait to start cooking. Thanks for the info( my griddle looks great BTW)

Wahoo!! Congratulations on the new Blackstone!!🤗🤗. Great minds think alike - Smashburgers were the first thing I cooked on my Blackstone as well! Take care Lisa and GRIDDLE ON!🤙🤙
Just found you.... I picked up my BS about June of last year. It has done me well.. I have lent it out to friends and no I don't.... Got it back one time and I asked how it went (he was cooking for his grand opening--we cater, why we bought it... strap it to a trailer and bring fresh cooking to the catering....) anyway, he said it went great, the cooker works awesome... hard to clean, took a while, but I got it.. didn't think anything of it.. went out later that night to put it were it belongs and I looked.... he cleaned it alright.... had to reseason it.. he took it back to factory................................... I use 50/25/25 Coconut/Olive/Avacado when I cook.. to season its 50/50 Canola/Olive. not sure about the "experience", sounds like you need a hug.... now off to check out the rest of your BS vids.
Wahoo!! Congratulations on the new griddle! We have absolutely loved this thing! We’ve cooked on it well over a hundred times since March - can’t say enough scour how much this has changed our cooking! Take care, and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥🤙🤙
Wahoo!! Congratulations on the new Blackstone! You are going to LOVE the griddle life! Let us know if you ever have any questions! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
Gator Golf USA awesome, thank you so much! Ya, you gotta let him k ow, before the first cook, he has to season it - years and years of amazing food with this this thang!!🤙🤙
Every since the very first time I went to a Japanese steakhouse I have wanted one of these flat iron grills to cook hibachi at my own house. Best of all worlds steaks, hamburgers, hibachi, breakfast, Wow you name it. I was checking these things out online and they’re actually not a bad price at all. Great video man. I enjoyed very much. Fun to see how excited you are about it.
Thanks so much man! You’re right! Brett just ordered the 22” for $120 on Amazon - we keep talking about doing fried rice and hibachi. Can’t wait to dig in more!!
I found that paper towels worked pretty good for applying the oil. I tried microfiber at first, it melted the microfiber towel! I bet a cotton piece of cloth/towel would work fine. Thanks for the video we are enjoying our new griddle
Yes!!!!! So awesome! Thank you so much for all of your support! Let us know if you have questions along the way man! We don’t know everything, but we’re always willing to learn and share!🤙🤙
I bought a blackstone 28" grill from Black Friday 2018 🤣. I totally forgot about it, and it went covered up in my garage until today. I'm excited to get it set up. Found your video on prepping it. I can't wait to see what else you have posted!
Thanks for this video. I'm getting a Blackstone for my outdoor kitchen area and this is a very informative video on how to season it for the first time.
Thanks for the great video can't wait to see a cook something good on there My favorite thing to grill is a ribeye big fat ribeye steaks thanks for a great video stay safe out there 😃🥩🥩
lucas mcquillan awesome man! Brett and I will for sure do a ribeye vid on this thang! Thanks so much for watching - even a “how to” vid - you are the best Lucas!🤙🤙
Hey Adam...so you didn't go live tonight? I thought that was the routine now? I bet you could not wait to cook some food on your griddle :) So how do you like your new toy! It was funny to see how excited you are about it :) Now you have me wanting one!! Really seems like you did your homework on getting this and how to treat it. You must have learned a lot about it. What is the best thing about seasoning? Does it make food taste better? Do you have to do it? Now is that dark color that comes out actually a good thing? It looks like you are damaging it. Why is that good? It does look like you will have a lot of fun with this for YEARS to come. Look forward to see what you will be cooking from it. You can do a whole playlist of the things you good on the griddle! Looks like fun. Have a great night and keep safe Adam! God bless!
Good morning fam! The seasoning is important to the griddle. These are cold rolled steel, and can rust if not cared for - the best way to protect it is with layers of oil. The foods that cook on it give it natural protection, but the first “seasoning” - the process of burning off oil a few times gives it the first protective coat. It gives flavor to all the foods as well - which get better over time. And the last reason, is that it makes it a non-stove surface. I still have a ton to learn, it’s much different than griddling on my little electric griddle inside!
@@waltwins Thanks so much for that Adam...I really did not know and that helps a lot. After your videos, I am really thinking of wanting one of those to replace my grill. I like the grill, but the griddle seems like less work and faster heat! Can't wait to see some good cooking! God bless
Oh awesome!! Congratulations on both the news Blackstone AND on the wedding!! So exciting! Let us know if you have any questions! Take care and GRIDDLE ON !🤙🤙🔥🔥
Hey man, thank you! I just purchase a 36” black stone and you earned my subscribe and thumbs up! Thank your for your time and patience with teaching us how to especially me ; it’s my first time and don’t know how to season it! If that’s the word.

Wahoo!! Congratulations fam! I remember watching Todd Toven’s channel for a year before we got this unit - it is so exciting! Thank you for subscribing fam! Can’t wait for you to be able to GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥🤙🤙
Very informative. This was exactly what I needed to get started, Just got my first Blackstone griddle. A 28 inch Pro Series, Seems to be very heavy duty. I am stoked!
Wahoo!! Congratulations on the new Blackstone! That pro series is a beautiful unit! For sure these things are beasts! We’ve done over 400 cooks on this one here! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥🤙🤙
Thanks for the video. I started mine this morning and thought the brown in the middle was something I did wrong. Kept letting it go then it spread out and looked great!
Congratulations on the new griddle fam! For sure it’s a new and different process, it in the end, sounds like it worked out perfectly! Take care and GRIDDLE ON FAM!🤙🤙🔥🔥
Loved this! You explained very well. We’re animated, in that, we know you are passionate! I realize this was 3yrs ago, hoping you can reply as to how the griddle has held up, and what, if anything you have had to do. Kind regards from 🇨🇦!
We ordered our 36in last night. My son has the exact one you showing this video. I got the one without the airfryer. I grill out a lot but I've never had a griddle. I am hoping it's something we will use.
Im new to the griddle world cause I panic with propane tanks 😂but Love to have food ready during BBQ Great Video and Griddle is seasoned just like yours Thanks 👍🏼
This is only my second video watching you. Haven’t seen your brother yet (I got a good idea what he looks like🤣. Just subscribed, cant wait to see recipes.
Haha!! That is so awesome! Yes, we had just started using the Blackstone at the start of the pandemic, so we were doing separate vids - “How to Make a Better Smashburger” was our first vids together. Then you’ll see what he looks like.🤣🤣🔥🔥
Oh yay! Congratulations on the new Blackstone!!🤗🤗 - the biggest advice I would give (that I may have not made really clear in the video), is to make sure the coats of oil are thin - if it’s too thick it will begin to flake off earlier than you would want. Good luck, and Griddle On, Lori!🤙🤙
Oh awesome, congratulations on the new griddle!! We love these things for sure and know you’ll love it too!! Thank you so much for watching man, GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥🤙🤙
Just purchased my first Blackstone 28"griddle. Looking forward to learning how to use this thing since I suck as a cook. Going to give your Chicken Fried Rice video a try.
Wow, congratulations on the new Blackstone, and thank you so much for watching! Yes, the one thing we would do differently on the fried rice, is let the rice cook just a bit longer with the oil in the griddle. It was still amazing and a family favorite!!
@@waltwins Thank you guys for the quick response. Been watching most of your videos, learned a lot and just for your info, made my marriage .........amazing!
I have done steak several times on my 22" Blackstone and it is ALWAYS great.. usually marinated but sometimes just salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder. Again, ALWAYS great!
That is so awesome, congratulations!! You are gonna love it!! Thank you for watching, and let us know if you have any questions! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🤙🤙🔥🔥
This was probably the best video on seasoning. One question though, how high of a temperature did you dial it up to and did you slowly warm up the griddle?
Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words! When seasoning the griddle, we fire it up and leave it on high the whole time! Hope this helps Ed!
Just bought my first blackstone griddle and charcoal grill and your videos are such a great help to getting me to where I need to be with my first griddle THANK YOu!!
New subscriber. I bought a used 36 inch stripped it down and followed the seasoning process. All looks good except the corners and edges kinda like yours did at 2 coats. I did 5.
Oh awesome! Congratulations on the née griddle fam!! We’ve learned that the corners will blacken over time - my left side cooks cooler and the back left almost never fully turns - still amazing! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥🤙🤙
I'm shopping for a new grill and i'll be honest this looks like best of both worlds. Was looking at a Kamado style grill, but this has me intrigued, specially with the Air Fryer bonus. Most importantly the air fryer might be the selling point for the wifey! LOL
Lol! My wife was actually skeptical of the air fryer, but it’s become her favorite part! We’ve learned there are a few things that may be better on a grill, but there are thousands of things that can be cooked on a griddle that you can’t put on a grill.💪 still like grilling, but the Blackstone is legit amazing and super fun!
Wahoo!! Congratulations on the new Blackstone! They are so much fun for sure, and the reverse sear is gonna be the bomb-diggety!! Thank you so much for watching and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥🤙🤙
Quite a bit late here but I am new sub! Wanted a built in grill/griddle in my mansion kitchen that I don't have yet (one day one ☝️ lol) so my daughter bought me a blackstone tabletop to use 🤷🏻♀️let's get this puppy seasoned baby what what!!! Exited to see what you have in store here!!!
Haha!! Heck yes fam!! That is so awesome, congratulations on the new Blackstone! We love griddle cooking, for sure if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask! Take care and GRIDDLE ON FAM!!!💙💙🤙🤙
Going to buy one of these bad boys today. Glad I came across your videos on seasoning and cleaning! Definitely got a new subscriber out of me! Thank you for the videos!
Lol!! Good call - looking back during editing, I knew I missed it - we were busy last night - unable to go live. We are trying to figure out how/when we can do live consistently. We rally enjoy it, but kind of appreciate the creative process of uploading. Thank you so much as always for the support!!
So I just got a griddle for the first time today, I don't usually grill or anything but I've always enjoyed it, so this should actually be fun for the summer! It's a simple little blackstone '22 since I probably won't use it a ton, these videos help a lot too! Makes it less intimidating lol, they're great too
@@waltwins yeah I'm definitely gonna enjoy it! After doing some research it looks like a great purchase, it's versatile and practical! Some family and I plan on starting with some philly cheesesteaks, I'm excited. Also thanks for being so cooperative with your viewers! Who knew griddling could have such a friendly community :)
Thank you so ouch for watching man! I tried to be really thorough - if there’s anything we can help you with, feel free to reach out! You can find us on Facebook (Waltwins) or on Instagram (Waltwins2). Take care!🤙🤙
I just bought my first Blackstone griddle. I have seasoned it and it looks great, I put four coats of olive oil on it. My question is how do you clean the grill after cooking? What method do you use to clean the surface off and do you reapply oil after you clean it?
little trick I do when I'm seasoning, is sometimes it's hard to tell where I have oil on that's a little bit too much, so I just use the "XPOWER A-5 Multi-Purpose Mini Electric Duster" (meant for cleaning the inside of a computer) and when seasoning just after putting the oil on, I will blow the air around the edge and over the surface to see where the oil is thicker, and then just go over it with paper towel, and then use the air duster again to get rid of anything left behind with the paper towel.
I'm about to be a new griddler because I picked up the blackstone tailgater recently. I will primarily use it camping and it will store in the camper. There will be week even 2 week periods I won't be using it let alone maybe much of the winter. I heard somewhere else what you said about whatever oil but flaxseed was recommended if you may only use once a week or less often than that. Is there any truth to this? Does a "healthier" option make any difference? You're a natural behind the camera! Thanks.
Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words! Any oil will work, however, since this video, we’ve realized being here in central Florida that with the extreme heat and humidity, that the flaxseed oil is amazing! Ultimately, it’s nearly impossible to mess this thing up, so any oil should do!😄😄. Take care, I hope this helps!
Thank you so much for watching! You only need to season before the first cook. At times when the griddle surface looks rough, I will do some reseasoning, but that should happen for a while. Hope this helps!! Take care!🔥🔥🤙🤙
I just bought one of these, and can't wait to use it. This video is majorly helpful and gives me confidence to season and cook on the Blackstone griddle, thank you!
Oh yay! So happy this helped! Congratulations on the new Blackstone!! The only thing I would do differently, is before the first coat of oil, I would let the griddle get really hot (let it burn on high for 10-15 minutes) - you’ll start to see it turn color. It can be done either way, but I feel like seeing the color change first gives it a good layer to start the oil on.🤗🤗
Hi - first off, thank you so much for all of your videos. I just bought a blackstone. I have some questions. 1. I seasoned the griddle (4x) and the center looks/feels less slick than the rest of griddle. Is this normal? If not, should I re-season? If so, how many times? 2. The griddle has lots of scuff marks/discolorations despite me trying to be delicate with the spatulas. Did I mess up my griddle??? Should I re-season? 3. I know I should use water sparingly but it is literally the only thing that loosens the food. I use tons of water. What am I doing wrong? 4. Lastly, no matter how clean I think my griddle is, its still dirty. For example, scrambled eggs after a griddle full of bacon.. The eggs look gray and its kinda gross. What am I doing wrong ?? Really would appreciate any feedback/advice/suggestions! Cheers! Jen
Hello Jennifer! Really sorry for such a late response! This comment was placed in the "held for review" section, so I never saw it. Here you go: 1. For sure you'll have what seems to be uneven seasoning (the middle of my griddle also gets much darker/slicker than the rest). 2. No worries about the scuff marks, the marks are in the seasoning layer, which, as you cook on it more and more, will not be a problem. 3. We use water after the "sticky" cooks to loosen the food for sure! Once the food is loose, we scrape and wipe. Once the griddle is cooled down, I use oil to finish cleaning. I place a small amount of oil and wipe, if the paper towel looks dirty, I repeat the process. I will do this a few times until the oil on the paper towel is almost clear, which will help with issue 4! 4. See previous comment! :P I totally get it, the gray eggs look nasty - hopefully all of this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!
Kay Atwood for real - I’ve had to do so much research! For sure these are similar - in fact they say the closest comparison is to cast iron. It’s so much fun though!😄
Hey Guys, your new biggest fan. I did exactly what you said on seasoning and I am so excited to tell you it looks great. I took before and after pictures. Since I am a newbie(older, but new), I did exactly what you did in the video and I mean it looks great. The corners will get blacker as I cook on it, per the video. Just had to share!
Wahoo!! That is so awesome man! Congratulations! Just as a heads up, it will be a little sticky for the first few cooks, but it gets better and better over time. You can find us on Facebook as well, if you’d like to share the pics! Much love fam! GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥🤙🤙
Noticed on 1st application, the burners were off, then you applied the oil, then turned on burners. I understood that one should heat the griddle 1st and then apply the initial coat of oil. Thoughts? Does it matter?
Thank you so much for watching! While it doesn’t necessarily matter, we’ve since turned the burners on first for 10 minutes or so and then started the process. It helps get the griddle dark quicker. 😄😄
I just bought and seasoned a Blackstone 36" griddle. I have some experience in a commercial kitchen cooking on flat tops. Two observations on your otherwise excellent video: 1) I think it would have been better to remove the lid so you could properly apply oil to the back edge and upright surface of the griddle and; 2) the griddle surface should never look "wet" with oil. Very thin coats are the key because any pooling or over application of oil leads to sticky areas and premature flaking. Like a cast iron pan, it should look nearly dry with a matte finish rather than shiny and wet when the oil is applied to season.
Thank you so much for watching, and agreed! This was our first seasoning ever (about 4 years ago), we’ve learned to do just as you recommended - overall much better process! Take care
I'm new to griddle and your channel. My main question is "when do you know it's time to turn off the heat? Is it when the oils stop smoking?" Thank you for this video.
Thank you so much for watching and for reaching out! Congratulations on the new griddle! When seasoning the griddle, you would apply a new layer when you no longer see smoke, and on the final layer as well, as soon as you no longer see smoke, you’ll turn the burners off. We hope this helps! Take care Kori!😄😄🔥🔥
@@waltwins yes very helpful thanks. We (our family) live in Central Florida also (Longwood). Do you ever do Blackstone events? Or Griddle gatherings? Just curious.
Picked up my 36" Blackstone with air fryers yesterday. Watched this to see how the "pros" do it. Looking forward learning all the tricks for perfect cooked meals. Also have a pellet grill that was given to me to learn how to use. Both are replacing my 10 year old gas grill.

Oh man, what a story!!🤣🤣. That is hilarious, lesson learned!! Thank you so much for watching, chiming in, and showing the love!! Take care!🤙🤙
I got the very same grill yesterday and this video was exactly what I needed to see. Thanks you so much!

Central Florida is the place to be, especially today with this beautiful weather and my brand new blackstone ❤
I assembled mine today and after watching this I’ll get me some canola and season it the same way.
Thank you so much for watching! We hope this helps! Congratulations on the new Blackstone!!🤙🤙🔥🔥
Seasoning it while I write this, running this video on my iPad “in sync” to make sure I get this done right. Two coats in, one or two to go….
So glad you shared this!! I will do exactly this when I get my Blackstone in a couple weeks. THANK YOU!!!
Oh yes!! Congratulations on the son-to-have griddle, it’s amazing! Let us know if you have any questions, we love our Blackstone!🤙🤙🔥🔥
@@waltwins I sure will. I've always been a huuuge fan of flat top cooking so looking very forward to this beautiful thing.
I found that paper towels worked pretty good for applying the oil. I tried microfiber at first, it melted the microfiber towel! I bet a cotton piece of cloth/towel would work fine. Thanks for the video we are enjoying our new griddle
You inspired me...I ordered a 36" blackstone...non-air fryer version...pure awesomeness

I bought a blackstone 28" grill from Black Friday 2018 🤣. I totally forgot about it, and it went covered up in my garage until today. I'm excited to get it set up. Found your video on prepping it. I can't wait to see what else you have posted!
Just got a 22 adventure ready. I will be seasoning tomorrow. Thank you for the easy walkthrough.

God bless

Going to season ours for the 1st time today. So excited & this video is a big help. Thank you for sharing!

This was probably the best video on seasoning. One question though, how high of a temperature did you dial it up to and did you slowly warm up the griddle?
Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words! When seasoning the griddle, we fire it up and leave it on high the whole time! Hope this helps Ed!
I just watched a video before this one that said. Do not turn your griddle up to high to seasoned right away. Or it could warp your griddle
I did 5.

Thank you for this!! We're very excited to start our griddle season!

I just bought my first Blackstone griddle. I have seasoned it and it looks great, I put four coats of olive oil on it. My question is how do you clean the grill after cooking? What method do you use to clean the surface off and do you reapply oil after you clean it?
Thanks so much for watching! I just posted a video showing how I clean!

@@waltwins Thanks I just subed to your channel.
Wow, thank you so much! We really appreciate it! Let us know if you have any cooks you'd like us to try, we love suggestions!
little trick I do when I'm seasoning, is sometimes it's hard to tell where I have oil on that's a little bit too much, so I just use the "XPOWER A-5 Multi-Purpose Mini Electric Duster" (meant for cleaning the inside of a computer) and when seasoning just after putting the oil on, I will blow the air around the edge and over the surface to see where the oil is thicker, and then just go over it with paper towel, and then use the air duster again to get rid of anything left behind with the paper towel.
Hello, I just got a new Blackstone grill. For seasoning the grill. Do you do it before you cook every time or just once on a while? Love the videos!
Thank you so much for watching! You only need to season before the first cook. At times when the griddle surface looks rough, I will do some reseasoning, but that should happen for a while. Hope this helps!! Take care!🔥🔥🤙🤙
@@waltwins thank you very much. It helps a lot.
I just seasoned it today, thanks for the video!!
Oh yay!! That’s awesome! We’re so happy this helped! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥🤙🤙
I just bought one of these, and can't wait to use it.
It can be done either way, but I feel like seeing the color change first gives it a good layer to start the oil on.🤗🤗
This just answered my question lol
Here you go:

Reminds me of my mom seasoning her cast iron pans. But I think her method was easier. I know that there is a big difference between the two.

Hey Guys, your new biggest fan. I did exactly what you said on seasoning and I am so excited to tell you it looks great. I took before and after pictures.
