Saw these fellas at Marquee London in 91. They were supported by another underated band in Confessor. Still have the ticket stub to this day. Not many metallers were there at the gig but I've never forgotten how The Key set an example that Thresholds had to follow. Great band.
YES// 100% BROWNING PLAYING DEATH METAL DRUMS AND SINGING DEATH METAL VOCALS SIMULTANEOUSLY// HOLY SHIT!!!! MIKE DAVIS'S GUITAR WORK IS SOOOOOOOO UNDERATED*
I bought this at a used record store because it had a spaceship and a pentagram on the cover. I knew nothing about the band, and I paid about $7. Turned out to be an awesome CD!
the beuaty of the old skool metal thrash days of the 80's and 90's buying albums then cds just based on cover art, taking it home and hopeing the music was just as good, 7-10 times it was...
I like the song structure, solos, + energy captured on 'Thresholds' more than 'The Key.' Both are fantastic, but I prefer this. Psyched for the new material!
I AM WILLING TO BET THAT MIKE BROWNING IS A BIG STAR TREK FAN\,,,/ I WAS ONCE A GUY WHO SAID TREK WAS FOR NERDS?// I AM NOW FULLY ADDICTRD TO STAR TREK// ESPECIALLY THE ORIGINAL SERIES THAT ONLY LASTED 3 SEASONS!!!!!!
I have some idea after looking up the band on Amazon. I'm going to see if I can find "The Key" next time I go to that shop. No, I won't say where it was! :)
God damn if only i could get this album, its just so hard to find, on cd universe it said it could go from 25-250$!!!!!!!! damn, maybe one day ill get it, DEATH METAL!!!!
@mazcal1111 well considering the price on amazon and cd universe it would probaly be like 200-250 but others might tell you different, i mean its a great cd dude, i would love to get my hands on this cd, but its just that rare. you've got a good piece of death metal their.
I THINK IF ( NOCTURNUS) WERE MARKETED BETTER, THEY WOULD BE JUST AS WELL KNOWN AS DEATH OR MORBID ANGEL// MY GUESS IS POOR MARKETING BY RECORD LABEL// ONLY A GUESS// BUT LISTEN TO HOW AWESOME THEY ARE// YOU ASKED THE BEST QUESTION// WHY ONLY 12K VIEWS? AS A NON INDUSTRY PERSONI I CAN ONLY THINK POOR MARKETING// WHAT A TRAGEDY// NOCTURNUS SHOULD BE A HOUSEHOLD NAME****
I have it on vinyl - actually i thought it was a bit wierd when i first bought it, too much going on - there are quite a lot of lead guitar gymnastics. Prog death metal quite an interesting concept though....
Signore ADDU (Adad), maestro del cielo e della terra: KAKKODAMMU! Io ti chiamo: ascolta e ricorda! Porta la potente tempesta perchè tutti possano conoscere la tua furia!
You think that because the vocals here are nit very guttural (growls). But overall, I believe there is a touch of thrash in some guirar parts I would say, and it surely doesn't make this masterpiece thrash metal or even death/thrash. Hope it helps.

I have The Key, but never listened to this one. Thank You! I just bought the digital download. I won't buy the ones without Mike Browning.
I live in Seoul, there is a typhoon hitting here! I think because I played this!
the transformers cartoons should be re released with Nocturnus songs as backing music.
Ah the smell of old school reeks and I love it
I like the song structure, solos, + energy captured on 'Thresholds' more than 'The Key.' Both are fantastic, but I prefer this. Psyched for the new material!

bad ass fuckin cut......wow....the beginning is off the fuckin hook
quite technical for its time
Mike Browning didnt like this record so much, i believe its very good!
It's mainy because he was fired right after this album was released, so it was bitter a sweet venture for him.
I have it on vinyl - actually i thought it was a bit wierd when i first bought it, too much going
on - there are quite a lot of lead guitar gymnastics. Prog death metal quite an interesting

The era of goa'uld?
baddest song on earth
Mastodon has riffs like these.
Metalogastor....
Is it me, or do these vocals sound closer to thrash than death metal.
IF THERE IS A TOUCH OF THRASH IN THE VOCALS IT SURE DIDN'T HURT THIS MASTERPIECE*
