It is what it is. I've been a die hard Rangers fan for 40 years. A new coach or a traded player won't change my love for this team. For those that are playing Monday morning quarterback, chill out. Just love this team! Laviolette is one of the best coaches in the league.
The KEY moment for me in this presser.....'you prepared yourself the whole year to play playoff hockey'. That's why I wanted Laviolette here. IMO that's a core belief that the best head coaches share and embrace. IMO it's the reason Gallant failed last season.
Sheldon Keefe is a great regular season head coach but got out coached in every playoff series where Peter Laviolette has been to three Stanley Cup Finals going 1 for 3 with three different clubs.
wasn't super thrilled with this pick, but the fact he returns to the team he played his only games in the NHL with is pretty cool and obviously you don't need any extra motivation to win a Stanley Cup if you play/coach in the NHL but it does mean something to him on a personal level you can tell and he said it himself so looking forward to the season. i will need to see it to believe this team can be better than they were or go further than 2022 playoffs
I don't know why people are so upset Gallant got fired. He lasted a little over two years of Florida. And two-and-a-half years in Vegas. But after that Dreadful game 7 performance. And the exit interviews there was no way you could bring him back
This is such a breath of fresh air after Gallant. I think this team will benefit from Peters advanced strategy and ability to hold this team accountable to play the game a certain way.
Two months later and I still can’t believe the way the Rangers lost against Jersey…Today, after hearing my new coach and my GM, I finally feel a little bit better about my Blueshirts.
@@albie21121 yeah the Rangers performance in Game 7 vs Devils this year was so pathetic it was shocking. certainly Gallant could not motivate them or make any adjustments whatsoever. back to back years with Cooper and Ruff making adjustments after first two games Rangers won, and we got ran over after that. Laviolette made it a point to mention in his answers that basically he feels different than Gallant with changing the lines like that and I don't give them a pass, 2022 was their year to win the cup for sure. Coach was not the problem with this team, Drury made some moves that clearly did not pay off. PL is a good coach and a good man, but this team needs bigger changes to win.
The sad part is he has a 2 year time span to get this team a cup.. if he doesn’t win he will overstay his welcome like every other team he’s coached for and him and Drury will be out.
Lavy won a 4-year contract however if his team doesn’t advance to the Cup Final by Year 2, it’s the EXIT door for him. Enjoy your first year honeymoon.
Laviolette has consistently demonstrated a propensity for preferring the aged veteran over the developing youngster, even to the point of having young talent beg for a ticket on the first bus out of Washington. Let's hope he breaks that tradition still uncertain if it's best coach solution. But let's see and get behind him and staff.
@@jerseyisdying take off the blinders? This is his third coaching hire for starters. Second he jumped the shark early on when the team had success and traded away draft picks like they were candy. Gave ridiculous contracts to trouba, krieder, zibanejad and others. He’s been horrendous.
Resume? Jeez, let’s talk about resume. If you are a coach and you take your team to the conference finals one year and the first round the next year, that would seem to be a positive resume attribute, wouldn’t it? Just sayin. Now, coach Laviolette is going to be thinking he could get the axe at any given moment.
The recycling wheel just keeps spinning - how many loser coaches will keep getting jobs around the NHL -- just awful.... These teams will continue to lose on a regular basis - time has passed al of them by....

Unfortunately, the team is soft. Trouba and Lindgren are the only guys who are tough enough to step up when the game is on the line.
Laviolette is the brand name label but inside the jar is generic watered down poo.
