In California every pistol is a unicorn. Was able to find P01 here in Cali. Looking forward to taking it out for its first day at the range. I’ll probably stick some LOK grips on it with some TruGlo TFX Pros. Very nice pistols. CZ does have some crazy variants. The 97 I believe is now discontinued.
Cool video and nice collection of Cz’s. You’re right about the cz supply. A couple weeks ago I found a cz97b at my local ffl so I snatched it up. First time ever seeing one in person so I had to get it. Then this past weekend bud’s had the steel frame p-01 sku 99041 available. I snatched that up too and a few hours later they sold out. Last year I found the cz75 omega in urban grey when the supply was dried up snatched that up quickly. Now this year they are in all the local shops. My advice to cz newcomers is be ready to buy when they’re available no telling when they will come back.

Love the video, man. Some variants are extremely hard to find. My #1 unicorn is the Sphinx 2000S. I also tried to talk Angus Hobdell / Adam Motter at CZC about making a steel-framed P-09. They said they had 0 time to stray away from the A01 they've been working on, sadly.
Just barely got the P-01 and swapped out the grips and put grip tape on it for a better hold, but I’ll tell ya i have the basic model and I love its shoot ability and it’s my edc and I feel safe as hell with it, any one of those three I’d take or recommend to a friend

Like you said, my unicorn cz has not been made yet, so, I simply made it. A cz 85 combat sao, with full length guid rod. Now, I want a cz semi compact without the FPS but with a rail. When Shadow line came out, I thought my dream gun is here, but they have to use the alloy frame for compact. And I believe a czc semi compact bull barrel is here, if without the bull barrel, it could be my thing. Now I just need to find a sp01 shadow frame and cut to length and fit the shadow line compat slide.
You can join Facebook Cz groups and keep up with some info like that. Some of these runs are limited and pop up from time to time and others are discontinued.
That "Shadow 2 compact" is really interesting, a premium durable and reliable pistol in a time when many other brands are cutting corners on quality. IMO it needs a slightly thicker manual safety, easy mod, no big deal and for carry a standard mag release. Hoping to see it also in EU, even in 9x21mm. Nice video👍
I'm told that CZ has a factory in Kansas. On of my friends is and started LEO career there. Been doing my homework on these things. Hmm...😉😉 So far so good. And this comes from a Sig guy.
I have the all steel 75B compact rail #19467 and I consider it the best of the line. I have modified mine with different sights and hammer and springs. Did take some modification to make the hammer work. To me this is the keeper. I also have the shadow compact that proved to be very hard to get. After the modifications to the 75B it is the same as the shadow compact in the action. There is a noticeable difference in weight and it shows up when shooting. There is less recoil with the 75B over the shadow.
I would rather have shadow 2 than the po1 shadow, full size feels better and the extra weight helps tame the recoil! True the popular models get bought out fast!! I love my cz 97b, best 45 acp for the money, one of my friend thought I was shooting 9mm!

I have the 99021, it is an amazing shooter. Huge difference in recoil management with the all steel frame. Lok grips and MCARBO spring kit made it my edc. She’s a heavy beast. Alpha concealment holster. Also wears an Olight pl mini.

It depends on your point of view. The regular P01 is marketed to the USA. The model you have is marketed toward Europe. So that pistol is common over in Europe but when CZ needs to fill an order in the USA they take whatever model they can get and ship them here. So occasionally your pistol ships in batches. So not really rare but not so common over here.

I bought the last one. The hammer is completely unique. I put a few trigger parts to make it a little better. It shoots 85% as good as my Shadow2 before I put the Armory Craft SAO trigger on it.

The sp01 mags will work with the P01. The mags may fit in the P07/P09 but mine fall out while shooting as they are not designed to work in those models.

Jayson Damian Like everyone says it’s mostly what you will be using it for but I am partial to compacts. The P01 and PCR are versatile. Easy to carry and still good for home defense. SP01 is much heavier but makes a great target gun or duty gun.
The box should have a sku# on it indicating the model. A standard P01 has a deckocker and alluminum frame. That will cover most of them. The 99041 P01 has a thumb safety and a steel frame. The P01 Omega has a different trigger system and is marked with the omega symbol on the slide.
idk if this will help but CZ does have a discontinue page with everything they stop making ..i just finally found and bought the CZ-75b omega urban-grey luckily i jumped on it because they completely sold out within the next day..but i would love the CZ-75B compact

The slides are all steel. There are a few versions of the P01. I consider some hybrids between a P01 and a 75 compact. There is a P01 steel frame 99041 as shown in my video. Its a hybrid because it has a steel frame like the 75 compact but has a rail. It has the same slide as a P01 but has 75 compact controls and has no front or rear grip checkering. There is also a model 99021 that is the exact same gun but has 75 compact stamped on the slide. A little confusing I know.

I’m planning to get a P-01 and install the CGW pro package into it but I’m trying to decide whether to start with the omega or the decocker only model. I plan to only ever use the decocker but I’m not totally sure what else was changed between the two models, other than the trigger, which will be replaced with the pro package as far as I understand. My very first gun was a PCR and I installed the pro package into that gun and absolutely loved it. I unfortunately had to sell it due to some hard times but now I wanna do the same thing with a P-01. What would you recommend? You seem super knowledgeable about the differences between all of these models.
Most people think the Omega needs less upgrading right out of the box. The hammer and SA of the Omega is better out of the box but you will get more out of the pro package upgrading the regular P01. You may install the pro package on the regular P01 and the maybe just add a few springs to the Omega. The biggest upgrade to the Omega that you can see a real difference is the short reset kit but it is kind of expensive for what you get.
I made the mistake of going with the Omega. The trigger reset on the Omega is way longer and I was never able to get it as short as a traditional CZ 75 lock work.
If you need more firm, purchase that doesn't squirm about in your hand when your hands are covered in: mud, sweat, blood, brain matter, urine or feces, think about skate booard tape on the front & back strap. I've been replacing the stock triggers with "85" triggers, They're more comfortable. Check out Cajun Gunworks, and MCARBO. com. When it comes to CZs, these guys are sharp as a tack.
I have a "40P" with a 40B a slide? Serial numbers match, registered as a 40B, to me just really interesting. More of a mistake than a unicorn, but I love it.
The 40P with the odd looking slide was a contract slide for Colt. Colt backed out of the deal so CZ put them on a P01 frame. This was the predecessor to the P06. Nice relic gun.

The texturing can vary greatly on either but typically aluminum grips tend to be smoother as g10 can be much more aggressive. Many like Aluminum for carry and G10 for competition.
Dude, just get out and shoot them a lot. Get 5,000 rounds through the one you like the most and trust it. Stop playing with the guns in the house, it is basically masturbatory. Get out, and shoot, and "finding the best" wont be on your mind as much. It is better to be a shooter, rather than a gun collector. Then again, people that shoot a lot usually end up with a Glock, Walther, or M&P since these CZs aren't very durable.

i have the cz 75 spo1 mecgar mags. will they work on both the p01 and p07 or which cz guns accepts these mecgars mags that i have?
The sp01 mags will work with the P01. The mags may fit in the P07/P09 but mine fall out while shooting as they are not designed to work in those models.

I would consider the CZ 91197 P-01 a unicorn. Two to three times the price now if you can find one for sale.

This one had to be just a leftover 40b slide before they rebranded the gun to be a 40p
