I just completed automata, seeing 2B die broke me. I now been feeling sad for the last two days since her death :( It’s hard to play but I’m continuing on, love you 2B 😭 Best story I’ve ever played :(
You could try NieR: Replicant, but I didn't find it nearly as hard hitting. Although, it does explain a lot about the backstory of Automata. Especially things like where Emil first came from, or why there's a lingerie outfit for 2B.

After playing Automata 4 times and getting all the endings is something I've never expected to do for a game. Automata will ways be that one game I'll always return to because of how much of a masterpiece it is
I felt that music transend my humanity and shattered my soul. This moment, when something heart-breaking happened in the game and felt your spirit leave your body. Legendary
I'm an audiophile. Music has a stronger effect on me than most people I've known. And this game wasted so much of my time. In a good way. I kid you not, it took me about 8 hours of game time to venture past the first city. I spent that long either just standing there taking in the music, running around aimlessly to get lost in mindless wandering, etc. I wasn't looking for secrets or getting familiar with the terrain. I wasn't doing anything. I just...was. It wasn't until several hours in when I snapped to the realization that I just wanted to exist in the game. I was completely immersed and lost in just existing without a goal or objective or thought other than just *being*. And before I made any meaningful progress in the plot, I already understood her name. In the game, I just wanted...to be.
Honestly I found myself doing similar things, when I go back to play through the game again the first part feels quite short compared to what I remember but I realise it was because I spent as you said must have been hours just walking around the city looking around listening to the music and getting lost in the atmosphere, climbing some of the branches, looking from high buildings, exploring, enjoying the vibes, but now when I go back to play that part I realise I could have done it in a few minutes yet I honestly wouldn't have wanted it to go any other way and would love to experience that first time walking through the city again and it feeling so much larger than it does now that I know the area. I'm really amazed sometimes how a game that on the surface looks so simple can feel like it has so much depth even when there isn't much happening on the screen, even the emptiness carries it's own feel and weight. Anyway I really enjoyed the game and it's nice to know others enjoyed it in a similar way to how I did yet also had their own experiences/journey with the game.
This is one of the few games to actually make me stop and take in the atmosphere. Usually when I play games I try to finish them fairly quickly so I can finish other games (I have a huge backlog of games). NieR: Automata is the only game I'll stop actually playing just to enjoy the beauty.
AhhHHHH Why why did you write her quote in the description?! Now I'm crying, again! Best thing I have ever played, period. Never have I ever cried more to anything than I have to NieR:Automata. Perfect.
@Rukodiora Man of culture 😎🤝😎 Automata has something that just touches you in a way no other game can, it is like Shadow of the Colossus and ICO, both are masterpieces, but shadow of the colossus is just perfect.

I've had a copy of this game sitting on my shelf for the last 2 years. I just started playing it and for the life of me I don't know why I waited this long to do so. It's freaking amazing.
Usually when I play games I constantly need to have something to do, but this game was so easy to just wander in, I spent a good chunk of my playthrough just finding different vantage points to look at the environment. It's absolutely gorgeous in just about every aspect
I swear this is one of the weirdest and most wonderfull games ever, when i played it i felt sad creepy a bit and most of all in love ! wish there are more games that are similar to the nier:Automata universe
@@voidnoidoid only one that is connected to Nier is the first Drakengard. Nier is the sequel of a bad ending while Drakengard 2 is the sequel to the true ending.
I got this game during the most recent Christmas sale as a game to pass the time while waiting for my VR headset to arrive. Didnt know anything going into it. Solid game, 10/10.
Thank you for bringing me beautiful memories about this game. I often still listen to his music, but listening to it together with the ambient sound and that landscape is wonderful.
After getting ending E I couldn't sleep well for a few days. The game does an amazing job of telling a beautiful and tragic story that cuts right through the human soul.
It's true tho. This was the best game I ever played as well. Not only that, but this was the very first JRPG that I literally maxed out: Played all the endings , got all the weapons, max levels on all weapons and characters, as well as completion of all arenas and side missions. I didn't want this game to end. I remember just running around in circles enjoying the environments and fishing for hours and hours. Dude! Who can forget about fishing?? Absolutely addicting.... So sad there will never be another game like this
I knew the game was a masterpiece after playing the demo before the game was released. I'll never forget browsing the psn store out of boredom and deciding to give the demo a shot because it looked interesting. Now it's easily in my top 5 games of all time
Favorite moment of the game for me is still the fact that the boss you fight after the first level of the game IS LITERALLY THE ENTIRE LEVEL YOU WERE JUST IN
I think my favorite moment was when Adam shared his fascination of humans and how he concluded death is the ultimate realization of being human. The thought of artificial beings' capability to have desire and to seek meaning and purpose is astounding.
it's ironic how off the ball he is too. he tries so dang hard to understand us, but he completely fails to realize that humanity is practically standing right in front of him and locking swords with him. androids, especially the main characters, are all embodiments of humanity. they're created by us, they're our children. they were created in our image and internal composition aside, they are exactly like us. and Adam just doesn't see it.
I just wanted to say that thanks to your video being recommended to me recently, and listing to this song, I started to become extremely interested in this game so I eventually brought the game and now I'm in love with NieR:Automata thank you❤
this is the only game with a good fishing minigame and it's good because of the atmosphere shown off in this video they made a world so beautiful, atmospheric, and calm that standing around literally doing nothing just feels relaxing
Part of me never wants to forget this game. But another part of me wants to forget to some extent so I can come back in like a year and re-experience it again. Currently am doing the same with life Is Strange and Yakuza 0, and it’s such a feeling to replay a game you’ve partially forgotten.
Forgetting this game has been an impossible task for me. I've played some good games in my years, but this...this isn't even a game. It is a transformative and cathartic experience.
Have you played the original? If not, I would highly recommend the Nier: Replicant remaster. If you have played the original... I would still highly recommend playing Nier: Replicant remaster... haha! ;)
I cannot forget anything that marks my life. I'm unable to left something I love, I keep watching or listening to something related to it. My best example is the Persona series, I played P4 right at it's release in the PS2, and then played P3 because I loved it. Since that, almost 13 years already, I kept listening to the music, and watching the animes. I kept the game itself in my memory to the point that, last year, when P4G released in Steam and I was finally able to play it, I realized I didn't forget anything about it, everything that was the same as the OG game, I remembered it perfectly. It *was* a feeling indeed playing it again after 13 years tho
It's the kind of game that makes you just stand somewhere looking at the beautiful place or just walking around while hearing these sound tracks and thinking about how beautiful this game is. I played ALOT of game in the past 15 years but non of them could touch my soul as NieR Automata did. Glory to Mankind
What is it with Japan and their fascination with high concept fantasy elements that incorporate so much humanity and ethical dilemmas? Its so over the top unconventional to your basic "Jason and the Argonauts" kind of stories. Seriously. I love Japan for giving me a whole new outlook on story and fantasy and interpretation.
From my reading of Japanese literature and Shintoism, it’s a large sense of loneliness and detachment coupled with the desperate want for there to be a meaning as to why they have to suffer. From the Bamboo Cutter’s Hut, to Gengi’s Tale, to the modern book Ringu, all are intelligent tales about the meaning of being human. I would even recommend you read a translation (or summary, as it’s difficult to read) of the Shinto Bible and you’ll see the parallels from there to modern literature. It’s the result of living in a post-modernist, post-capitalist world that still has ties to its old world, something many cultures like America don’t really have.
The aesthetics of this game are really cool, I really dig the artstyle and music, but the one thing the game excels is on its critique to philosophy as a whole. This may be the first game to be an essay rather than a game
The moment for me was the desert and seeing the ruins of the apartment complex with the swings ...like we get the feels that once people lived and children played here...and now it's nothing but an old relic buried in the sand
For me it was a mix of bunker and amusement park music as well as just seeing the park with the fireworks, seeing the machines' reaction over finding a religion and then me just feeling so heartbroken when the game truly starts after endings A and B
I will never forget this game, everything about this game coalesced into one of the greatest games ever imo, a true masterpiece. Probably one of the most thought provoking pieces of media out there.
It's really amazing how good NieR Automata can look despite not having particularly high quality textures, just goes to show how much a well tought out scenary can do ( even better when paired with a divine soundtrack like this )
@@zer0pearl929 I mean, a game as beautiful as Automata could possibly be the best looking game ever with high quality textures combined with all the stunning light effects this new gen allows
People often talk about how breathtaking Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii was despite the frankly hideous textures. The landscaping and music has such a huge effect.
The nier and drakenguard series are truly the best thing to grace this planet. I feel in love with the nier series as soon as I heard the music and got an overview of automata’s story let alone everything else that comes along in both of the game series.
The scenery, the music, the style, I've literally stopped playing for a whole hour or two just to admire the world and the atmospheric music Platinum Games built around me
The soundtrack, the fact that you can literally look almost anywhere and it's a stunning view, the artt style, and if all 3 hit at once. Oh my god. It's really a feeling you can't explain unless you have played it.
I'm playing it right now. Can't tell you how much I've had just admiring the art and music whilst playing through an interesting story. Combine that will the combat and upgrading systems... It's so damn good.
i saw this video sometime between mid-late 2020 or early 2021. it inspired me to redownload the game and commit to playing through the whole game. i had dropped it because i was always busy with my friends and playing online but after the PS4 group split, i didn't have much to do, but this video reminded me of the game so i redownloaded it and im so glad i did.
I loved this game and its story. I just loved how the story flowed and was surprised to see there was more to the story after my first play through. The real story doesn't start until your 3rd playthrough

In the game, I just wanted...to be.
i love this
Want to be or want 2B, that's the question
Have you ever played Dark Souls? And if so how did it feel entering Ash Lake for the first time and hearing that music.

This is the epitome of melancholy. After this fight, I really felt so empty. Best experience in Video game history!
After getting ending E I couldn't sleep well for a few days. The game does an amazing job of telling a beautiful and tragic story that cuts right through the human soul.
It's true tho. This was the best game I ever played as well. Not only that, but this was the very first JRPG that I literally maxed out: Played all the endings , got all the weapons, max levels on all weapons and characters, as well as completion of all arenas and side missions. such a relief. this game deserves to be known for so much more than 2Booty
Favorite moment of the game for me is still the fact that the boss you fight after the first level of the game IS LITERALLY THE ENTIRE LEVEL YOU WERE JUST IN
Well, just the final section of the level

@@darkwyve I am actually playing the Nier: Replicant remaster right now, yes. I am loving it thus far. :)

The question is, where do we go from here?
Same feelings!
Mental health isn't as nurtured in Japan so I feel like through games, manga and tv a lot of creators find their catharsis.
@@McSnezzly lol post capitalist
Gonna be honest: thought this was gonna be a joke of looking up her skirt. Still an amazing game.

They did the same thing with NieR Gestalt in 2010 against a similar large boss with the same boss music. This was an homage to that moment
