I think you need disconnect battery cable before add SSD.
absolutely not required its totally safe 1000%. no technician will ever remove it, there is no power on those jack. i been doing this for over 17years and never ever had to remove battery to upgrade ram or ssd. there are other laptops that have built in battery and they give you a service cover only for the ram, m.2 ssd, so that proves my point that you don't need to remove the battery to install ram or ssd, else they would not have the cover and would obligate people to remove the main cover and then instruction for removing battery. another eg. you don't see people remove or disconnect the power supply for the pc in order to upgrade. if you have any question or request in the future feel free to ask me.

regarding your question: this is a 10gen CPU, the motherboard it has m.2 PCI-E that means you can for sure place a nvme, and have at the same time another SSD or HDD
we upgrade this laptops all the times.
i recommend a Samsung nvme ssd.

regarding your question: what you mean doesn't accept the windows 10? what did you do exactly? you installed an additional m.2 SSD sata or m.2 ssd NVME, or 2.5' ssd sata?
did you get to boot to the windows 10 usb to get to the 1st steps of the installation? and if so when you got to the part to choose the ssd's you didn't see them there? i need every detail, i can't help guessing
