Rodtang face had more damage than goncalvez, rodtang very aggresive, but goncalvez was very effective...for some people said he was scared and always run, but in my opinion he is smart and effective to reduce rodtang aggressiveness
Rodtang uses his face to block too many shots. His head is really stiff and doesn’t evade many shots, he has supreme confidence in his chin, but the problem is his brain will go if he keeps fighting like this.

He uses illegal moves by falling down to avoid strikes or going for double legs, which is considered illegal under official thai stadiums and WBC rules. You get point deducted for that. Goncalvez shouldn’t be allowed to fight

People calling Goncalves a runner don't seem to get that Rodtang wanted for him come forward and brawl but Goncalves didn't fall into the trap but responded on his own terms very effectively if I might say. Very good fight in anyway both fighters where mesmerizing!

This is muay thai, rules are different. And judges also wanna see a brawl and strong composure, mid kicks, high kicks, sweeps. Goncalves was constantly going back and back, playing foul, he should be an MMA fighter, he would do better. Not discrediting Goncalves, he’s a strong fighter but i would like to see him in MMA.
Goncalves is a coward. And that's that, I love how rodtang is always looking for a fight, He wants the action which truly makes him a better fighter and a even better warrior, Goncalves kept running away and was fighting very foul, And rodtang is very respectful, Goncalves is just rude. Goncalves is also purposely dropping to the ground or ‘slipping my when Rodtang gets in punching range he should be getting g in trouble. And in the first round when rodtang caught his kick and goncalves back was against the cage he purposely fell over to not get swept or punched against the cage...

This shouldn't be a split decision, Rodtang won clearly even landed 3 knockdowns and walked Goncalves down and things got dirty towards the end with many rules broken.
not really. U can walk forward and still get punished a lot, as it happened there. just look at the difference in apparent damage on their faces. Rodtang walks forward because he's a tank and supremely confident in his hands, which is why a smart opponent will not engage on his rules but circle out and strike from the outside. One muay thai scoring is not lumpini scoring btw, so there's also that to take in consideration. I wanna say goncalves lost mostly because he was too eager with some evasive moves, that double leg attempt probably costed his some points, and falling to the ground too much still is not seen nicely in a contest such as this. striking wise the points go almost all to goncalves tho. Good fight tho, Rodtang always bring some spice to the fight, although i would have liked him to complain less and fight more.
@@Rotscrek Striking wise Rodtang did the most damage, his punches crumbled Goncalves a few times, and Goncalves hardly moved Rodtang at all with his punches, so that looks good on judges too.
@@boris6452 he probably did the most damage, but apparent damage is also a factor. Also, you don't need to move an opponent with your striking, as long as you hurt him or score points. Anyway, i hope to see Rodtang defend his title for a bit more, i do wanna see the rematch with haggerty after all

I do not know why everyone is complaining about Goncalves running around, it was a good strategy considering Rodtang to be very aggressive and stronger physically. So punching and kicking and getting out of range was smart, but maybe he needed more consistency, good plan but Rodtang is a beast to beat. You not go all rough to the punches with Sanson, you need to fight with cleverness.
The problem is the rules of Muay thai... If you run you loose points... This strategy serves well in boxing or tae kwon do... But Muay thai counts the endurance and agressive posture of the fightet

Although Thai fighters are in general very, very good at MT, too many don't move laterally. Hence they cop far too much punishment. Lerdsila is an amazing evasive Thai fighter, but in general far too many Thais stand in front of their opponents and get hit far too much.
Conversely, I simply marvelled at Goncalvez's evasive footwork in this contest. He displayed terrific lateral movement, and slick changes between orthodox and south paw stances. Walter G was also evasive with his head slipping a number of Rodtang's techniques. His slick footwork is just beautiful to watch.
If combatants are moving forever forwards, they cop full power punches, elbows and kicks. Conversely, those constantly moving backwards and sidewards, if hit, the evasive movement diminishes the power of the technique. Too many Thai fighters don't use lateral head movement and slip punches and kicks. Rodtang is one of them who cops too much punishment.
This was an incredibly high standard content between two combatants deploying different styles and strategies.
I'm not sure of the slightly different rules exchanges between One Championship Muay Thai and Thai MT in Thailand , but I much prefer One Championship as I see far less clinching, accompanied by roundhouse knees and front knees - which I find boring.
I think One Championship MT is the best martial art I've seen for spectators. Those fighters outside Thailand bring spinning elbows, spinning back fists, spinning back kicks, side kicks, hook kicks and spinning wheel kicks, plus overhand rights, long left hooks, body shot rips and hooks, and longer sequences in punching combinations. I train using all these MT techniques except knees.
Having visited Thailand, MT seems to be the national sport. Hence there is incredible quantity of quality Thai boxers coming out of Thailand.

ActuallyGoncalves had less fights so really he won becauase of less experience. Ive watched many fights . I have to say these guys are the Best in their weight division.
