Thank you for more quality tips and tactics. I learn more and more from each of your posts! One thing I did want to comment on is your advice to "attack, attack, attack." That is generally good advice, but I have found that there are some key situations where it is better to let the opponent attack. I am specifically thinking of when you have a powerful but unmanueverable unit, such as a pikeman, and you are facing more numerous weaker units, such as medium infantry. The pikeman can easily push back medium infantry in a battle, but if you are the one who initiates the battle, then your heavy infantry will move forward. This might ruin your line of battle and expose the unit's flanks to the more numerous units of the opponent.
Well yes, you have to use your common sense, though if you have pikemen then you should have a second line of maybe elephants or thureophoroi to fill in the gaps when the pikemen surge forward (doesn't have to be a complete second line, about one to every three in the front line should be OK). Mainly the attacking response is to the posts on the forum complaining about people just sitting in their corner - I have defeated such people myself, there's always a way to go around them.
well i see all you vidéo tactic on this game ( i make video on Filed and glory Medieval but a loose very , my english is terrific , i m french ) phks for your tips
explain what the abbreviation "- ve" means in the unit description. Example: Troop type: Warriors.-ve cohesion test modifer in open vs heavy foot or mounted?
minus, or negative, or a malus. In your example, medium foot have a loose formation so they don't fight well against close formation troops or against cavalry in open terrain. However, in other types of terrain (rough or difficult) the close formation is a disadvantage when fighting against loose formation troops and the loose formation troops will fight with an advantage.
Love the summary, I plan on referencing it when playing. Thank you.
