      @@DrewLSsix indeed I did. But knowing both Kitfox and Belite both started with the very basic versions of the KF lite. Belite went on updating to the ultracub and procub lite. While Kf hasn't changed the design. Chris obviously changed many aspects from the very basic Kf lite (ie. the rear turtledeck and titanium). But dose not answer where he purchased the tooling and design from, just stated that he did purchase it. So in detail I would like to know if he has proprietary rights to Kf or Belite mods for his F series.

      YES. and at the same time, as Chris mentions, he redesigned/improved enough of it that he can call it his own (True Badland Aircraft). Looking forward to seeing this with the different options in the future. Maybe there will become a UL class for the STOL Drags in the near future? Thank you for taking the time to watch and also for SUBSCRIBING! I really appreciate you.

    Awesome looking plane! Just one tip from an old dirt biker: It seems a lot of folks think that adding a little extra oil to the mix is "safer". The same folks, after seizing a couple pistons, will tell you that two strokes aren't reliable enough to fly behind. That extra oil in the gas makes the fuel flow slower through the jets in the carburetor, which actually leans the air/fuel mixture. Now 40:1 vs 50:1 you probably won't ever run lean enough to cause a problem, but the ratios are exponential, so going 32:1 and now you have a huge problem. All the extra oil in the world is not going to lubricate molten aluminum pistons. My advise is to run exactly the amount of oil the factory recommends and run REALLY good oil.

    • @radiocontrolegliders782

      yes take the oiler off and premix.. the pums fail all tje time and destroy good motors . happened to me plug the oil pump hole and premix. fogg motor every time its down a long time too. in crank too . or will seze ..

      keep aas close to called for so if you mess up and lightly light one time maby tad heavy on oil next time it all pans out!! mixing high on oil every time is just looking for a problem!! i have some very high milage/hr 2 strokes!

    • @MrApmech
      @MrApmech 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Adding more oil to the mix makes the engine run leaner not because it’s a thicker fluid. Given the same size jets you are simply flowing more oil and less fuel because the mix itself contains more oil. Just run good oil (Motul 800)and you’ll be fine .

    I have to say these are very cool little planes, and I'm hoping they help spark a resurgence of Ultralights in the flying community. There is really no more affordable way to get in the air.
    I've met Chris and spoken to him on the phone several times, and can say he's an upstanding guy who is really passionate about flying in general, and this plane he's designed in particular. I managed to stop by while he was building this plane, and was duly impressed.
    He'll be receiving my deposit soon, and I'm looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and starting my build!

    Really dig the folfdable wings! I so want to get into one of these or a Hummel. And no price point mentioned!? A quick look-see tells us about $11,700 for the base model w/o engine/prop. Not bad for a complete airframe w/ minimal set-up time to get it flying and at #235 its adaptable to several power plant options. Think I'd look for a 4-stroke engine like a small motorcycle unit between 250cc and 400cc. Easy to get parts and maintain, yet still light weight w/ plenty of power to get you airborn quickly.

    I was pleased to see your straight up "confession" that it was a Kitfox Lite, as opposed to claiming it was a propriety design you just dreamed up! This is from a RANS S-7 pilot (for the last 22 years now) who will never forgive the Zlin Aircraft company for their SHAMELESS ripoff of the S-7 ! Though copying is a compliment, at least admit it. Your engine choices look very good, as a 600 hour 2 stroke pilot before getting into the Rotax 912S, I have no fear of them. But as others have mentioned, run the recommended oil mix, more isn't safer or better! It is great to see this cool design find a new home, looks you are doing a great job with it.

    • @Yellow_cub
      @Yellow_cub 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      portnuefflyer the difference here is that he purchased the rights and jigs for the design. They first went to Belite, and then to Baldlands. So nothing copied. He took what he had as a base and then altered it to his own thing.

    40:1 is actually LEANER than 50:1, you have 20% LESS fuel in the included mixture flowing through the jets, fouling risk increases as does seizing. Slowly add oil to the ratio on a TZ250 or RS250 GP bike and see what happens. Always mix per the manufacturers recommendations.

    • @thewheelieguy
      @thewheelieguy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, no, you have the math backwards. 20% more oil, but that changes the petrol fraction from 98% to 97.5%, a trivial difference. I suspect the difference is more what someone else mentioned, the change in fuel viscosity making the less flow through the jets.

    Could someone compare this to the Belite UltraCub with a 1/2 vw engine because i like this aircraft more overall but it seems like the Belite UltraCub is half the price for the kit and is made to take the 4 stroke engine that I would really prefer to the 2 stroke Pollini.

      There are electric airplanes in development and I believe there are even one or two available for sale. The challenge with electric is finding batteries and electric motors that are light weight enough to stay 103 legal.

    • @scbane
      @scbane 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Electric with any useful flight time is hard to do in an ultralight. 100 lbs of batteries gives you an hour of useful flight time, plus the weight of the electric motor, and you are already almost all the way to the Part 103 ultralight weight limit.

    I wish you would not tell people that by NOT using the 50:1 fuel mixture as recommended you us a 40:1 mixture and saying it is safer - IT IS NOT SAFER ! ! !
    A 40:1 mixture is TOO rich in oil and it will cause a carbon build up on the spark plugs deep inside the plugs causing spark failure because the motor burn chamber is now burning cooler than it was designed for. Also you will get a carbon build up behind the piston rings because of the oil rich mixture. This build up of carbon behind the piston rings will make your motor wear out more quickly because it forces the piston rings to be tighter to the cylinder and more likely to size as well as not producing it's full power.... But wait there is more the carbon build up will also be present in your muffler and it will harbor a oil build up which can cause a backfire burn that can disconnect your muffler from the motor....... Also this oil rich mixture of not burnt fuel can make the exhaust muffler get hot enough to start to glow red. So please stick to the letter for fuel mixtures as recommended by the motor manufacture. I have rebuilt more low hour two stroke motors because the owners thought they were doing GOOD for there 2-stroke motor by giving it that EXTRA oil. Remember if you were an engineer and knew more than the motor manufactures they would have found you by now and you would be working for them ! KEEP IN THE SKY AND NOT LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO LAND......

      Right now (March 2020) there is a possible rule making regarding unmanned vehicles and hobby RC aircraft that is being reviewed by the FAA which could potentially require a remote ID on those aircraft... but that hasn’t been approved yet. It has been met with extreme opposition. And even if it did happen... that has nothing to do with ultralights.

    A lot of people will be dying in these planes too. No license, no experience needed just money. This is not a good thing! This is why they call the Beech V-38 a Doctor killer. They can afford a high performance airplane but aren’t qualified to fly one. I already know this is not a high performance airplane but it can get you killed never the less. Just saying, you may want to get properly trained first.
