Several of you have pointed out the MAJOR Audio problems in this video I am sorry; I had even edited out all the sniffles and HQ is a disaster! I think I must have pushed something to knock it all out of sync! Won't happen again! 🙏

Great video Alex. Have to say you've got an amazing permission there. You've found more Roman coins in one day than I've found in 9 years of detecting 😮
Congratulations on the finds. I recently found my first ever Sestertius, unfortunately the chalky soils down here in Kent destroy everything copper and bronze that's older than 150 years or so. All I could see was the slight outline of the head.
Loved watching the bit cleaning the coins with the brass insert from the composite pencil. I've just had mine sitting doing nothing, but I'll be trying this out with confidence having watched you do yours. Thanks Alexander
I am ever so slightly jealous, in a kind hearted manner, as to the number of finds you achieve on some wonderful coin bearing land. May it continue and maybe one day some of your good fortune will rub off on me!! Cheers. Great vids.

Really enjoy watching these videos. Never been metal detecting & probably never will but always in the back of my mind is the thought that the Romans didn't half lose a lot of coins!
I know.. that crosses my mind too Andy, but then it was close to 400 years of occupation so it sort of makes sense... I detect on a field where there was a small house until the 50s... you wouldn't believe the amount of mordern-ish coins etc in that field .... from just ONE small building! Anyway, Hope all well with you and thanks for watching!
Once again, thank you for a great video and insight . I am still learning my Deus 2 , and I keep reverting back to my Deus 1 . Looking forward to your next video
Hi Alexander. What a great day of quantity and really stunning quality. That sestertius is in great condition (I think the reverse might be Fortuna) and the follis is superb. (it looks as though it is a RIC VI 519b,II/ 520b/ 525b, depending on what Maximian is wearing, from Trier 302-303 AD) Despite its size, that field really is worth traipsing over again and again.
It gets drilled as soon as the last crop is harvested that field! But thats good too as it cant get too done too quickly! Hope all well John and All the Best!
I have a similar sestercius, lovely bit of metal 🙂 Well I clean my roman coins with a toothpick, enough on my sandy soils, but I have a difficult soil and I use the pencil with the brass end to clean them, juste like you, you scratch the concretion until you get to the patina, and it is magic, it doesn't damage the patina on bronze coins (it does on copper coins)
I really enjoyed the cleaning lesson. I really should use that composite cleaning kit more. Glad you had a superb day cleaning all that Roman rubbish off the field 😉
Good advice on the cleaning, Alex, and as for using metal on metal - professionals can be seen to use a scalpel under a microscope, so don't give the cleaning snobs any leeway whatsoever! Wish my soil was as kind as yours - them there coins are remarkable. Great video as ever, boyo.

Can I ask a dumb question? How do Roman coins end up buried in agricultural fields? Who dropped them?!!
Not dumb at all - it can be a sign of a settlement of sorts, wether a villa or even a military camp... or it might be as simple as losing them like we might lose a coin today... or maybe lost in a skirmish - could be anything really. Hope all well and hoper that helps - All the Best, Alexander
That follis! That looks better than most George 3's I see dug up! Wow! But oh my....the sound on this video is not working right. Not your usual standards.
Sorry Cyndye I dont know what happened I was playing with some software to cut out wind and i think it knocked the entire track out... on top of that all the work I do syncing a separate audio track recorded on a separate audio recording device with such good results has been spoiling you! Hope all well!
Anytime you have discrimination set low (-6.4) and sensitivity set high (94 +), there will be falsing. No way around that.
Good knowledge Chuck thank you 🙏
