The clay being so fragile and the weight were the two things that kept me from ever ordering a stove tec. This little guy looks very user friendly! Thanks.
This was a great review! I had just found the Stovetec stove earlier today. I was completely unfamiliar w/ rocket stoves. I had my credit card out but stumbled upon your review. I'm going with the Silverfire. I too am concerned w/ durability and weight. You just saved me a potential headache. Thank you! MiF
Here it is years after this video was made, and here I am! I just purchased the Silver Fire Survivor, and it looks beautiful! I haven't tried it out yet, but can hardly wait! It looks like it can also be used as a hand warmer, like a camp fire! Thank you for the video, introducing it for me. When I was shopping for rocket stoves, I decided that if I'm going to pay over a hundred dollars for an item, I should pay a bit more & get the best available! : )
The weight and fragility is what really turned me away from the StoveTec when I first saw them. The SilverFire looks like it has really surpassed all the StoveTec's shortcomings. Putting this on my Christmas list for sure. Thanks for taking the time to share. God bless.
Thanks again !! I got the tent stove !! Now I gotta get this one !!! You are the best prepper on TH-cam !!! I hope I can get a 10th of the skills you have !! Speechless !! Thank you !!! Thank you !!!
so glad to see you reviewing the SilverFire, such a better product not to mention the ethics....StoveTec claims to donate so much, but through some of my sources, "allegedly" they are not going where they say and they have been turned in over this. I'll be reviewing the SilverFire Super Dragon soon. Todd is a great guy with high morals that I appreciate. Thank for this review Yankee
Thank you so much for the great review. I was a bit Confused when I saw the Todd designed and promoted Stovetec AND then that he designed and promoted Silverfire - thanks for clearing that up. Your review was a great help.
Good vid as a chef I can see it would be great in the field as getting the heat up fast and maintaining it is important. Never seen anything like it here, most people have butane can stoves.
Thanks, I was wondering since I deer hunt on public grounds in Wis. And it's FREE to camp there. I currently use a outfitter tent, I do have a wood stove for heat, but cook mostly out on a grill or on a cast iron grate stand over the camp fire. So I thought if I could find something to sever as both the heater & cooking surface, it would save a lot of space in the truck. None the less, still a cool product, thanks for the info.
Thanks. I bought StoveTec long ago and was wondering if an upgrade would be worth it. I will upgrade and keep my StoveTec to share with someone else who might need one.
I don't own a stove Yet, but one of the obvious benefits of the Silverfire, which I don't think I heard you mention was the 4 legs supporting the pot vs 3 legs with the other. More stability means less accidents with kids & beer drinking adults :o)
Thanks for the review. Looks like this may be the front runner for rocket stoves I've been looking at. Almost bought the original stove-tec a few years ago like a few friends did, I'm so glad I didn't now. For once putting it off may have been a better choice.
When do you want me for dinner, again? Great review. Thanks. Finally have a product in rocket stove family I can see myself owning. We cook out in the summer to not heat our house up.
thank you for this awesome video on this awesome stove. getting my gear weekly and this just made the top of the list. again, i thank you and have a blessed day
I love my Bushbudy stove! Did I hear correctly that you designed that? I bought mine a couple of years ago from some very nice folks homesteading in Alaska.
Hi, Yankee, I talked to Todd today, he said he sent you out the hunter. I am waiting for your review of the hunter, since I can't decide between the hunter and the survivor. Also as you say, the survivor is not available for a few weeks. Very good review, by the way.
That's a nice looking stove. They have a couple other products that look promising as well. The "hunter" model has my interest, for a few extra dollars you get a little bit more capability. But I don't think you can go wrong with either one.
Thank you for the review. At this time my buddies and I are put together funds to buy approx 5 of these item and addidtion purchase of 4 more there after.
Once again Yankee, you have provided me with an abundance of information. I was about to buy the rocket stove last week but some internal thing was keeping from acting on it. Well today I open my email and find your video on a better more improved stove that I definitely want. However, it is out of stock now. I sent the company an email asking them to notify me when they are available again. I thank you for all your wise information. My garden table is doing fine how is yours?
How would this stove do for heating a tent you think? On their site I saw they also have a design with a chimny and I was wondering if this could be used not only to cook with but also heat a large wall tent. Any thoughts on this after your testing?
Looks great, thanks for the video! I was also looking at the EcoZoom, how would you say this product compares to that one? This ones burn chamber looks a bit bigger which I would like
Hi, do you have any suggestions for a wood or oil burning stove that would be suitable for living in a van. As i live in England, stealth is priority. Is there any option you know of that doesn't require an external exhaust/smoke/fume pipe.Regards.M.
When u set water on them stick on the silver fire and the cut in your video the stick sure got short, that made fire get going a lot better. The food looks better than the stove👍 I have one coming. I order mine I thought it was and was told it was 304 steel and found out later it is only 302.. just a little not happy about that no big deal just saying 👍

Glad you got back into the swing of making videos recently. I thoroughly enjoy them, thanks.

$120 with free shipping is a great price. I'm going to order one when they are back in stock. Thanks Yankee.
Hey Yankee thanks for your videos. My son and i have built a couple of your projects and will be tent camping for the first time in the near future.
Thank you so much for the great review.
I was a bit Confused when I saw the Todd designed and promoted Stovetec AND then that he designed and promoted Silverfire - thanks for clearing that up.
Your review was a great help.
I own a rocket stove now ,but after your vid I'll be buying a silver fire for the portability. great vid ! You are much appreciated .
Great vid. I really like that you can use the pencil size sticks. People at campgrounds always disregard those. Great review.
thanks nice review ,
did anyone ever tell you your voice sound like George Cloonie?
Thank you for the field test. I have been interested in the stove tec for a while and did not know there was an alternative, good vid.

That was a great comparison review. I want a Silverfire Hunter. I believe it would suit my needs better.
I have the Stove Tech and was going to buy another but I think it would be wise to try this new one. Thank you so much for the great review.

Very interesting. I've been wondering about rocket stoves for a while, and this answered a lot of my questions. Thanks so much for the review.
Just stumbled across your video. and I'm grateful, as I was just about to buy a StoveTec. Thank-you...

I have perfected cooking on my StoveTec, but may have to have the SilverFire also I totally enjoy cooking outside on these stoves
thank you for this awesome video on this awesome stove. getting my gear weekly and this just made the top of the list. again, i thank you and have a blessed day

Excellent review of a great piece of kit. The weight may mean I can finally get one here...

Looks like a great product @ a good price. Would it be possible to rig piping to the top of this so it could heat the tent as well ?

I'm sold on this. I saw the little one and want that as well.

Dang! That stew, or whatever you call it looooooks gooooood!! Little bit of garlic and some red wine, and you got a deal!
How would this stove do for heating a tent you think? On their site I saw they also have a design with a chimny and I was wondering if this could be used not only to cook with but also heat a large wall tent. Any thoughts on this after your testing?
Jasper W yes like to know myself if can use it to heat your tents with stove pipe
Looks great, thanks for the video! I was also looking at the EcoZoom, how would you say this product compares to that one? This ones burn chamber looks a bit bigger which I would like
Finally just ordered one thanks for the great review.
Thanks YP. BTW, what size pot are you using?
Thank you so much for this review. Clearly, the Silverfire is a better product.
Great video😎👍! Definitely going to pick one up !
Is the Survivor both a rocket and gassifier stove?
And the Stovetec exclusively a rocket stove?

Nice! Thanks. I really liked the stovetec, but I get it now.
Thanks for the Review of this, I think I may try to get one, and show my other preppers...
Not all the time no..sometimes. why ? Would you ask ? A large enough store of water will be stored in the van if that is any help to your question ??
good review, but omg the last 3 minutes of you cooking the stew is awesome! im inspired and hungry!
Thanks got the way you presented the different stoves
Great Review and cooking part was so Good !!!
forget the water test... the food is the real test! Also, glad to see i'm not the only one that wears those sandals!
Just brought mine waiting on delivery
Why not replace the clay with that stuff
Thanks for this video...thinking about buying one...cheers
Are you abel to make lower or hiher heat for cooking fast or slow
As a common rule and one of the laws of the Universe ....Less fuel = slow cooking / More fuel = fast cooking
It's an "American comedy" skit. Do a youtube search on "I live in a van down by the river" and you and I can have a laugh together.
Looked at their site to price it and it's a great price at 120, but they're completely SOLD OUT
Just bought a silver fire after watching, always wanted a good rocket stove, glad I slacked off.
Can you use them indoor?
Nu B definitely not. The smoke needs to be vented outdoors
They're the Rolls Royce of rocket stoves. That's what they are.
also, Mad Max called. He wants his sandals back.
Great video, was very practical and informative.
SOLD
Now that's roughing it YP style! Much enjoyed it, thx .
Silverfire is lighter will be cheaper to ship to Australia and wouldn't be broken during shipping.
Great review on this. Thanks.
Nice video.. cool Stove !!! Thanks..
And you can use the chamber door to shave in (mirror).
Dag nab it. Was gonna order one of these on the next paycheck. Now I got to wait in line. Awww poooo. Getting one for sure though.
A little salt lol. But thank you for the review I'm off to buy one in the uk.
I really want one now.
Will this stove last for a couple of years constantly using it. I'm a believer and totally believe their will be a time to run from persecution.
Thanks!
The price is impressive also.
Nice one, thanks.
If SHTF I'm bugging in so I won't be toting my stovetec.
Great video.
