    Team Ewok for me! I love finding faces in trees. I liked the horizontal version of the vine with it looking more sprawled out with a gorgeous background. And I'm okay with path shots too! My kind of park!

      Team Ewok yes indeed! I can't fathom how people look at that and don't see an Ewok!?!? Glad to hear you like the path shots as well, they are often times the prettiest part of the forest! Glad you enjoyed the vine shot as well, mother nature isn't always beautiful, but she is always amazing! Thanks so much for watching Juanita! Hope you are doing well and have a great week!!

      Thanks for that mate! Autumn is just beginning to kick off around here. Trees that line the roads seem to start first. The forests are still pretty green, but they are fading to yellow fast. Their predicting season being mid October so they are going to have to start changing here pretty quick. The locals have told me though the color stays around into November, unless we have a big storm. So definitely stay tuned for some autumn glory! Hope you're doing well my friend, have a great week down there!

    COOL TREE! I see a bear, and then down from that a little bear side view. Neat find! Hope you and JoAnna have fun picking up appropriate clothing for your new climate. Next time we see you guys, I probably have some sweaters I could give her, I still need less clothes 😂 My 2 favorite images in this one is the two trees with the sun between them and the last photo.

    • @paulcookphotography
      @paulcookphotography  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much Michelle! I knew some people would see a bear, my mind automatically goes to Star Wars. I see Star Wars references everywhere I go 😂 you'll have to talk to Joanna about the sweater situation, but I don't think she has much in the way of Autumn/ winter clothing. Glad you like the video and the images! Hope you guys are settling into your new location and having a great time!

      I'm glad you enjoy that one! Adrian! I hadn't planned on making a video about it until you commented about it a couple weeks ago! I'm really glad you're enjoying the West Virginia content. I do miss the seascape photography, But I absolutely love being out in the forests and hiking the trails and taking images of the woodlands. Despite the bad rap that it gets, West Virginia is a pretty special place. Looking forward to showing you guys more of it! Hope you're doing well, have a wonderful week down there!

    Ewok ! Keep off that local 'Moonshine' you are beginning to see things 🤣 Lovely photos and relaxing vlog. Don't forget to buy some snow pants 🤣Glad you have a great area local to photograph now. 'Winter Draws On' looking forward to seeing the fall colours. Have a great week.

      I swear I haven't run into a moonshine distillery out there in them hills...and I don't want to either, very dangerous! Found myself a pair of hip waders based on your last video (different brand I'm sure), should come in handy this autumn and winter. I'll definitely be looking for a pair of snow pants here soon, I already have a parka for the coldest of days. Autumn is really starting to happen right now. Peak season should be mid October so really looking forward to it! Thanks for watching, Andrew! Hope you're doing well, have a great week!!

      Thanks for watching Deryck! There's definitely no shortage of places to go. The biggest problem here is getting there in the morning in the dark. It's pretty dangerous with the deer that stand on the side of the road and occasionally run out in front of the car. It definitely makes for some tense driving! But the locations are beautiful and autumn is just beginning here. We are expected to hit peak season around mid October, So definitely more to come! Hope you're doing well! Have a wonderful week!!

    The cool temperatures there must be quite a change from Florida! You must also be at a higher elevation there as well as being further north?
    Autumn colours in East Anglia don't peak until mid November.
    That path shot at 12:17 was worth taking, one to return to when the autumn colours arrive.

    • @paulcookphotography
      @paulcookphotography  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much Russ! Yeah, we are just absolutely thrilled with the cooler temperatures here, even in the summer it was about 20 to 25° cooler at any point of the day than it was in our old home in Florida. We're also looking forward to the winter. I personally have never photographed in snow before so I'm looking forward to that challenge! Autumn, it's just now kicking off here, mainly along the roadways. Roadways. The forests are still pretty green but individual trees are starting to change. They are saying peak season will be mid October but color will last into November. I see you have a new video out, will be watching later this evening! Hope you are doing well, have a great week over there!

    Get yourself some heated gloves or mitts. On the pricey side, but need to get a pair myself as my fingers suffer walking Otis on that first morning walk. Get a water wicking long sleeved under shirt too...and always dress in layers. I'm just hoping that there will be leaves left on the trees to turn colours after Lee blowing through...some trees are pretty bare. Hmmm...ewoks...all in the eye of the beholder! lol Oh, and a wool toque...can even get some lined so that you don't have that itchy feeling. Well, I can see the vine as snake! I think a pathway makes it special as it shows everyone that the area is accessible and you too can get out and enjoy everything the outdoor world has to offer. My, sometimes I have a lot to say...so I'll end with...have yourself a wonderful week! Bruce and Otis Oh, one more thing, I think that was Otis in the tree begging for a banana!! LOL

    • @paulcookphotography
      @paulcookphotography  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching Bruce! I can see Otis' face in that tree eating one of his bananas as well 😂 Thank you for all the clothing recommendations! We didn't get to go shopping that day but we have plans for it this coming weekend. I have bought a pair of hip waders that should really help out when trying to get into one of these streams without freezing! I was wondering if that last storm you had blew the leaves right off the trees or not. It is just starting to kick off here, mainly along the roadways. The forests are still pretty green, only individual trees changing slowly. Our peak season is predicted to be mid October, so plenty of time left! I'm glad you're a fan of the pathway shots, so am I! Thanks again for watching, hope you're both doing well up there! Have a great week!!

    Lovely area, that tree when I first looked at the wider shot I could see a lion , but with the closer perspective j could definitely see the Ewok! That's a great tree to have locally. Autumn is definitely getting closer. Lovely images, really liked the last one turned out really nice. Hope the shopping trip was as fruitful, all the best mate , take care.

    • @paulcookphotography
      @paulcookphotography  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching Lee! Yeah, people are seeing all kinds of different things... Ewoks, bears, lions, characters from the movie Labyrinth 😂 Definitely an interesting tree. At first I thought somebody had carved it, but after looking at it further, it's all natural. Glad you like that last image, Definitely my favorite from the video as well. Autumn is just kicking off here, mainly along the roadways for now, but individual trees in the forests are starting to turn. Peak season will be mid to late October. Looking forward to seeing all the autumn images from your side of the pond as well! Have a great week mate!

      Mickey Mouse 😂 Yeah mate in just 2-3 weeks from now that place is gonna be lit up! It's beautiful now, but I'm looking forward to seeing the colors, it's been a long time. I definitely need some Bogs boots and some hip waders. Lots of water to go in around here, but it's a bit colder than Florida. Glad you enjoyed it pal, have a great week down there. Chat soon!

    Definitely getting some Chief Chirpa vibes😁
    It’s awesome seeing how similar the landscapes are to what we have in Yorkshire compared to what you had in Florida not to mention the temperatures.
    Based on what you said it seems like we’re running somewhat parallel in terms of autumn colour, still quite green here too.
    Great video, Paul. Have a good one mate🖖

    • @paulcookphotography
      @paulcookphotography  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The fact that you even know Chief Chirpa's name makes you automatically one of my people. How people don't automatically think that looks like an Ewok is beyond me. Yeah, the similarities between the two are pretty striking aren't they? I think we get a little warmer during the daytime than you, but it doesn't even come close to the heat and humidity that Florida has. It's absolutely wonderful!! Glad you enjoyed the film! Have a great rest of the week over there!

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paulcookphotography it’s actually been pretty warm here (for Yorkshire) as we’re still getting a solid 20C during the day and still in the low teens at night. I still have some of the original action figures from SW around here somewhere including Chief Chirpa and Wicket W Warrick 😂
      Take care mate, looking forward to the next one 🖖

    Some great subjects here Paul - I definitely saw the Ewok! I'm not one of the people asking "why West Virginia" - I know that for the landscape and weather conditions alone, I'd love it there! Great shots, can't wait to see the autumn images.

    • @paulcookphotography
      @paulcookphotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching Robert! Yeah, I think the landscape part is pretty obvious. Over here, West Virginia has a pretty bad rap. It rains pretty low on the education scale versus other states and is considered pretty "hillbilly" and "backwoods". Why that might be true, It more than makes up for it in other areas in my opinion. Definitely might be a video on it. Glad you liked the Ewok tree! My mind is automatically goes to Star Wars, I see references everywhere 😂 Glad to hear I'm not alone! Glad you enjoy it mate, Have a great rest of the weekend over there!

    Paul for me the best image is at 12.17, but I also like that vine shot very nice, as for the faces in the tree I noticed the babies first, very cool, I will say again the image at 12.17 is top notch as good as any woodland stuff I have seen, Cant wait to see what fall bring you, I have been out a few times getting ready for fall, and I am heading to Ontario so hopefully I will get some nice stuff there, as always thanks for sharing have a great week.

    • @paulcookphotography
      @paulcookphotography  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's quite a compliment. John! Thank you very much. I'm really glad you like that image. I've only taken a handful of panos in my life, they never made much sense in Florida for some reason. But here they make perfect sense and I plan on doing more of them when called for. I really like that image myself, it's just a stunning scene. Autumn is Just now kicking off, mainly along the roadways. The forests are still pretty green, but individual trees are beginning to turn. Peak season will be around mid October so still several weeks left! Have a great trip to Ontario, can't wait to see what you get from there!

  • @LetsClickPhotography
    @LetsClickPhotography ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I saw the face as soon as you were stood in front of the tree, didn't see an ewok though (although when you mentioned it, I could see a resemblence to Wicket), my initial thought was (and here's an obscure reference for you) the hand faces from the film Labyrinth (David Bowie, Jennifer Connelly early 80's?). Love the final shot, and the whole thing about cliches....you just gotta do you, what you love, the beauty where you see it. And anyone who wants to critique that, f-'em! 😀

    • @paulcookphotography
      @paulcookphotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahaha... Odd that you would say that, that was JoAnna's first reaction as well... She saw a character from Labyrinth the moment she looked at it. I've never really liked that movie but her and the kids absolutely love it (as well as The Dark Crystal). My mind automatically goes to Star Wars, I see Star Wars references everywhere! I just had to have a little mini rant about the pathway shots. Too many people apologizing and calling them cliche. For too many people are far too worried about what others think. Glad you enjoyed it mate, thanks for watching! Autumn is just starting to kick off here with peak season being around mid October! Hope you're doing well, have a great week over there!

    I do verti-ramas fairly often and enjoy them. And don't ever apologize for taking a path shot, even a dirt road shot. There is a reason the shot is seen as a cliche shot, it is because it works so well. Not taking a path shot because it is a path is like refusing to shoot tunnel view in Yosemite. Beauty is where you find it. Enjoy it and share it when you can. I thought the tree shot looked like an ent from Lord of the Rings. Maybe Treeboard's wife?

    • @paulcookphotography
      @paulcookphotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching Phillip! Verti-ramas...never heard those called that but I like it! After living in Florida the last 12 years, panos rarely seemed like a thing to do for some reason, but here in West Virginia they make more sense to me. I couldn't agree more about the path shots...as you said, beauty is where you find it. I can definitely see the Treebeard similarity - or his wife! I like the way you think! Thanks so much for watching, have a great week!

    Great stuff Paul, definitely a face, not sure if it was an Ewok, I think I saw something a little more sinister. I wasn't convinced when you were standing by the vine that there was a shot there but you made a great composition out of it. When Autumn kicks off you're going to get some great images.

    • @paulcookphotography
      @paulcookphotography  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is definitely an Ewok there! But on the other hand, I'm the kind of person who sees Star Wars references everywhere I go. Dave saw a character from the movie Labyrinth, which is the same exact thing Joanna said when she saw it as well 😂 I'm glad you liked that image of the vine, I thought it worked out pretty well. Autumn is just now starting to kick off here, mainly along the roads. The forests are still pretty green with only random trees turning right now. Yeah I would bet that is true, those vines just seem to strangle the trees. Very interesting. The way mother nature works though, isn't it? I've been in Manchester, United fan all my life but the older I get the harder. It is for me to watch top level football. I lose interest with a huge contracts and sometimes the seemingly lack of effort. I've gone to at least one Warrington Town game on all my visits over there. I really like that small town level football. Same over here... I watch college football, but once the players move on to the NFL I lose interest.
