  • Hey everyone! After a long time of being inactive on TH-cam, I'm back with some new content from my journey around China. I'll be sharing a lot of videos from 1 month of experiencing this beautiful, diverse and culturally fascinating country!
Our first stop in China was Shanghai... I didn't make too much content from here, but I'm starting off the vlogs with our second stop - Huangshan. A beautiful scenic area in the Anhui region, surrounded by some of the most epic mountains.
I hope you enjoy following along on this journey, thanks so much for watching!

I went to Huangshan Mountain in January 2009,it was snowing and I thought I was walking in a fairyland. I stayed in the mountains for one night, just to watch the sunset and sunrise. I took more than 1,000 photos with Nikon D80.

The phrase “五岳归来不看山,黄山归来不看岳” is a famous Chinese saying. It roughly translates to "After seeing the Five Great Mountains, one does not wish to see other mountains; after seeing Huangshan, one does not wish to see the Five Great Mountains."
This saying expresses the idea that the Five Great Mountains (五岳) - Taishan, Huashan, Songshan, Hengshan, and Hengshan - encompass the beauty of all mountains. However, Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) is so uniquely beautiful that it surpasses even the Five Great Mountains.

You are right in 9:17, As the mountain workers are getting older, scenic spots like Mount Huangshan have begun to use the "UAV+mountain workers" collaborative mode to transport materials. Now it's DJI FlyCart, the DJI carrier drone
FC30, abbreviated as FC30, is responsible for transporting materials up the mountain, and then the mountain porters carry out the transportation on the mountain.❤

This is the first time I saw Huangshan, and the first time I saw Western TH-camr filmed there. Thank you for showing us. The stone formation is amazing and it reminds me many old Chinese paintings.
The four words you were asking about (I googled them) are the short version of one verse from the poem of a famous Chinese poet, Li Bai (701 - 762 B.C.) in Tang Dynasty. It means "Landscapes provides writting materials". But, in the modern days, it often means "Long and lengthy article." The far left character is written differently from the custom today.

Good job! My last visiting to Huangshan was 10 years and 4 months ago, and through your camera, I think it has been developed even more up there.
I carried my food/drinks up, and stayed in dorm rooms to save money for the 2 day hiking. Not sure about now, accommodations and supplies used to be very expensive up there since almost everything were moved up by human muscle power, that's an occupation called "挑山工" (porter for the mountain), you could see them on the trails if choosing hiking up/down instead of cable car. I wonder if anyone still takes that job nowadays, after all even back then young man were hardly seem doing that.
Sorry you had not meet the cloud sea. And from my old information, the 2 highest peaks open in a rotation of every 5 years, not sure which is open this year and you visited. IMHO the highest 天都峰 (Tiandu Peak) and the trail 鲫鱼背(Jiyubei, literally back of crucian carp) leads to it are absolutely stunning, not for fainted heart. 😉
Also there's a lot of beautiful old villages around the surrounding area of southern Anhui province worth exploring, actually I suppose the background of my profile picture is Huangshan from distance. And the area is especially famous for its gorgeous colorful autumn view with peaceful ancient village scene, which draws a lot of photographers every year.
Wish you a great time in China and looking forward to more vlogs.

As an old Chinese saying, well only 400ish years old, says:“五岳归来不看山,黄山归来不看岳”. Means there are 5 mountains in China, generally called 五岳, are so beautiful beyond all other mountains, should you return from “the five”, you never wanna see any other mountains. Yet, if you come back from 黄山 the Yellow Mountain, you would ignore “the five” for they cannot be competitive. 😂😂 Well personally I disagree though, I like 华山 the Hua Mountain which is one of “the five”😂😂

At 10 minutes and 16 seconds into the video, the four characters '大块文章' are translated as 'grandiose piece of writing'. This borrows the majestic beauty of Huangshan to describe the article's immense and magnificent characteristics. The intentional misspelling of '章' also has a special meaning, suggesting that the article is as good as something written by God.
