The rye remains are actually used for animal food, so yes they are correct if it produces cut grass because that is what FS modding can do, they have to improvise and nothing they can do about. But YES it is correct if it gives grass swath.
Edit: fun fact actually, the rye swath or remains or whatever you call them, were used for roof building being the roof, cause they grow the tallest out of all the grains.
If a combine is harvesting rye you wont get hay/grass.It needs to be a green crop because yellow crop produces green remains? Thats not possible. But if you swath rye/ mow rye in the green growing state yes then you will get cropswath (looks like hay/grass) that can then be used to feed the animals.

Modconflict with straw me I assume. If you disable strawme it just gives straw like normal..

I think you are using straw me mod i did have the same if you disable straw me then it just gives straw like real life...
So Rye needs to give straw. Its a modconflict with Straw me...
