    Great video now I know how to change my blades.

    Actually just replaced my blades and I did notice that they actually have a particular grove or spacer to fall into on the spindle so that the blades are flush, if not the blade would not be level and flush after tightening bolt, I have a Z345M , but any way those are my two cents … good job 👍

    About blade up or down direction (if the bolt falls out and you don’t know which way)….. the “lifters” go up towards the deck. A blade diagram can show you what the lifters are….. again, if you don’t know

    Question: I have both of the blades going in the correct direction as you noted, but I hear a sound every seven or eight seconds. It sounds like something is hitting. Brand new blades, and no damage to the mower. Any words of wisdom?

      We recommend taking in your mower to a service technician to prevent further damage. Thank you!

    Why didnt you need the wood block and a wrench on the top bolt with the impact

    • @SunSouthJohnDeere
      @SunSouthJohnDeere  ปีที่แล้ว

      This kept the blade from spinning around while trying to remove it.

    • @hardbushido
      @hardbushido ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SunSouthJohnDeere I'm asking why they DIDNT use the block or wrench while using the impact wrench

    • @skrubol
      @skrubol 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Same reason an impact doesn't rip your arms off when delivering 1000 ft-lb of torque. Impacts deliver torque in quick bursts, much too fast and short to start the blade spinning.

    I wonder how many residential owners have a fancy mower lifter. I can turn bolts, but I was looking for how to pull the deck out, replace the blades, remount the deck, without a mower lifter (I have not received my lawn mower yet).

      I’m gonna try a jack, Jack stands or car ramps.

      I use an automotive floor jack and jack stands

    • @skrubol
      @skrubol 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My car jack isn't tall enough to clear my impact wrench. I've ordered a farm jack, which is quite a bit cheaper and more compact than a lift.

  • @boomer2095
    @boomer2095 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was told to use 90 ft lb of torque, but then this is like going to repair shop and them rotating tires with an impact wrench and it is all good till the next rotation and they use a impact wrench. But no so great for the owner when they can’t break the lugs loose if they have a flat and need to put on the spare.

    Those ar good mower blades ..... just need sharpening ..... my blades were destroyed by rocks over 6 years ..... the 2x4 for my replacement had to be horizontal with a 2nd 2x4 to make a t-shape

  • @marc_svsengineering4319
    @marc_svsengineering4319 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Is this a joke???? Just pull the three pins and slide the deck out (don't forget the fan belt on the motor side). rest it sideways on the mower and change the blades. I would never recommend jacking up a mower and working underneath it (if you even have the ability to raise it high enough).

    • @simnope8632

      @marc_svsengineering4319 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@simnope8632 Ya I called it a fan belt. If you like, drive belt. Guess you missed the rest of the safety and built in features the mower already has to make this a real easy way to change blades. I'm sure your comment helped a lot of people.

    • @marc_svsengineering4319
      @marc_svsengineering4319 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rickrolled9938 Sorry, I first tried his method for a different reason. Maybe it's because I have weights in the front, and some add on features but picking it up and putting it up on jackstands was going to be something I couldn't do by myself (for this old guy anyways). A jack wasn't working due to no safe jack points. Could I rig it up and make it work...maybe. Then I thought, do I really want to crawl under this thing on my back. Maybe my John Deere zero turn is different. It literally has 3 cotter pins to remove to slide the deck out to change the blades (and clean). It was super simple and light weight and designed for it. But, hey, you do you. Just my experience.

    • @rickrolled9938
      @rickrolled9938 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@marc_svsengineering4319 i changed my deere zero turn and it only took two pins to take it off, so I did take it off, but that's cause I don't have a jack or anything to lift it. I like lifting it more it's easier

      @@gibbsmeedat3954 He shows how to change the blades, he DOES NOT address if the blades have to be oriented in a certain way. He admits that in his replies to me. Further research on my part was inconclusive. Some suggest that they be perpendicular to each other, and others say it does not matter. John Deere says they usually position them perpendicular for cutting efficiency. But, technically it doesn't matter. You might work on your reading comprehension, then you would have understood my very specific question. ADDITIONALLY, you will see that I am not the only person that asked about blade orientation.

      @@pakviroti3616 how am i going to understand a question you just posed in your reply that came after my response? My reply was way more helpful than a reply saying "this is not helpful". just don't put it on upside down. Trying to orient the blades relative to each other is pointless since they are belt driven and belts slip.
