- A special steam run was held on November 22, 2015 from Delhi Cantonment to Rewari Junction and back, conducted by the Indian Steam Railway Society (ISRS). The rake was hauled by the bullet-nose Pacific class steam locomotive WP-7161 "Akbar".
In my video it can be seen whistling and chugging out of Platform 3 at Palam Station where it had halted to allow the Chandigarh - Bandra Superfast Express to run past. Do not miss noticing the locomotive's driving wheels slipping as the train begins to move out of the station!
A friend of mine, Vikas Singh waves after spotting me beside the track, while foot-plating on the steam locomotive. Later, as the barriers lift for road traffic to pass the Palam West Rail-Road crossing, chaos ensues - a normal scene here.

Glad to see WP loco in action... But was sad to see it hauling only 3 coaches at a very much reduced speed.. I remember in 1970s and even in early '80s watching WP loco cruising as a bullet hauling some superfast express trains. Sigh... Those days will never return...
Yes, they used to haul express trains, but most have been scrapped and the ones restored have no power to move more than 40 to 50 km/h. This was a special run.

It even carries the vistadome coach. That's interesting. Now I really like to board this train.
The steam engine look is vary excellent. But the driving since vary intelligent skill. But the working crew was three parson. One was drive the engine other two parson name was firemen. Mainly maintain the steam pressure. All the three parsons work was hard. But the health concern was vary fine. Beautiful journey and maintained was vary tough. Vary excellent engine.
I have seen first time this type railway engine in 1965.

This steam engine is having a set of four drive wheels .Certainly its maximum speed would be 90 kmph. Does it run at such speed?
Steam engine is maintain ninely. Because of the old edge a rake of only three boggies were carried. Thanks.
