One of the best guitar solo ever.... and he plays this live.. amazing... many players can play fast.but all noise and random notes...but John Petrucci is one of a few rare guitar player that can make anyone cry while playing lighting fast... such a Legend
Joh Petrucci lays down one of the greatest guitar solos you could ever hope to hear. The emotion of the song just pours out in the solo. Stupendous talent, and one of the best live solos ever.
Would be interesting a dive into the more “metal” side of Dream Theater. Songs like The Glass Prison, Endless Sacrifice, Panic Attack, In The presence of enemies…but the best thing to do is listen to the full concept album “Metropolis pt2: Scenes From a Memory”. A timeless masterpiece.
Whoever is recommending these songs to you is doing an incredible job. I hate when people recommend the hard-core progressive stuff right off the bat. These songs you've reacted to by DT were all amazing introductory songs to the band. Love the reaction, keep it up you guys!
Such a delight to see you both enjoying your exposure to Dream Theater. Each member is a world class musician, and they are very diverse in their musical compositions. They sit comfortably in the prog metal genre. That voice you love is the singer James LaBrie and he does have a beautiful sensitive voice. Ironically, many people in the metal world are not fond of it because he is not the stereotypical vocal styling for meta. Without a doubt over the last 25 years DT is the band I have seen in concert the most and I really love their work. Thank you for enjoying and sharing your reactions!
John Petrucci is indeed "the guy"! I've seen them 8-9 times, and each time I've situated myself to the right of the stage, in front of John. I get a good vantage point of the other band members because you can't miss Jordan's antics or Mike's (both Portnoy and Mangini) craziness on drums, or John Myung's sheer dominance of the 6-string bass. But Petrucci's always front & center in my book - no other guitar player alive comes close. Oh, they're coming to Madrid on Nov. 17th for their 40th anniversary tour, and even though I live near Barcelona (700 km away), nothing on this earth can make me miss their reunion with Portnoy after 13 years being separated from the band!!!
This is one of my favorite live performances from Dream Theater. James Labrie did a pretty good job, Petrucci nailed that solo, and the one thing that usually goes underappreciated in this is Jordan Rudess's lick to close the song out.
I wish I was you to discover again their discography… cant wait for more DT reactions from you!! Greetings from Spain (yes the beggining has spanish vibes but spanish guitar sounds way different to this one)
Such a great song, I had the pleasure of meeting the singer, James LaBrie a few years back. He's a lovely down to earth guy. Each band member is spectacular.
They also have long epic songs (20 min plus) that include both soft melodic parts and heavy metal parts, with a little more rawer vocals. The mix is perfect!!! The best two examples are according to me: -A change of seasons - Illumination Theory
I have this concert on DVD and Blue Ray, and I've watched this performance probably at least 50 times or more and I've seen them play this live and every time that solo hits, my eyes water.. So good..
Absolutely love this DT song. As an avid musician and lover of music, my two favorite bands of all time are Dream Theatre and Tool. Sheer talent and just hit the soul differently
You deserve a sub guys, you felt it right? That's the magic of DT. Once they touched your heart and soul, you can't ignore them right? This band is so outstanding. Different from anything else, like you can't really out them into a specifc category. They make music for the sake of it and nothing else. No attitude, no BS from those guys.
I love that Dream Theater's music touches you guys the same way it does for me. Their live performances are truly spectacular. I can't wait to see your reactions to more of their songs. I would love to see what you think of some of DT's harder pieces like As I Am, Forsaken, or Peruvian Skies.
At this point you have only chosen ballads from Dream Theater (and their ballads are so good). They do have a lot of very heavy songs as well. Try one of those songs next time for a change. Example of some of their best heavy songs: - Caught in a Web - Honor Thy Father - Under a Glass Moon - The Glass Prison - Enemy Inside - Fall into the Light - The Alien - The Shattered Fortress - As I am - Endless Sacrifice - Peruvian Skies ... just for mentioning a few Keep up the good work!!! Loving your Dream Theater reactions!!! More Dream Theater, more!!!😊 /Johan from Sweden
It's John Petrucci on guitar and important thing about Dream Theater is that they are perfect live. Please do react to Under A Glass Moon (Score Live) and Octavarium
I’m glad you’re loving the softer side of DT, which often gets ignored because their harder songs are iconic, but their ballads are just as good! Some say this isn’t the “real” dream theater, but they have at least one or two ballad type songs on each album, so this is just as “real”. That being said, it would be great to see you experience some of their harder offerings as well. A good blend before you get into their truly epic prog masterpieces would be songs like Home, Dying Soul, Misunderstood, On the Backs of Angels, In The Name of God, or Solitary Shell. A lot of people are going to be asking for Dance of Eternity, Octavarium, Count of Tuscany, Glass Prison, Change of Seasons, etc, and don’t get me wrong they’re all fantastic epic songs, but be aware that they are very long compositions and very intricate in their story telling and music so they represent a significant investment of time and effort to delve into. It is a worthwhile deep dive, but be ready for it. XD
Singer introduced him: Mr. John Petrucci. That solo isn’t in the studio version. It’s like the whole mood of the song shifts in the second part and something bad happens. A bit, a small bit, like a motorcycle crash in the middle of the Bat out of Hell solo.
If you liked that intro part you should check out "An evening with John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess" it is an album with just the guitar player and Keyboardist.
Guys next time check out Under a glass moon live score 2006 by Dream Theater or if you really want to see how instrumentally insane these guys are, then check out Dance of Eternity live at the Boston Opera House. The guy on the guitar is John Petrucci. One of the most technical modern guitarist out there if not the best. Not just John Petrucci everyone here is a living legend!
Cześć Dominika, Hi Andrei! :) Wasze dotychczasowe reakcje na piosenki Dream Theater nie maja sobie równych na TH-cam, a uwierzcie mi widzialem chyba wszystkie :) Przede wszystkim przemawia przez was milosc do artyzmu, do twórczości pełnej emocji. Jest jeden święty graal związany z muzyką Dream Theater, "Scenes from New York, Metropolis 2000" Gdy obejrzycie ten koncert szczeki Andrei nie da sie juz podnieść z podłogi :) Trzymam za was kciuki. Pozdrowienia z Polski :)
Welcome to the journey with Dream Theater, with a great pool of surprises.

I'm so excited to see you both enjoy my all time favourite Progressive Metal band. I think it's time for another emotional song but with more power. The song "Sacrificed Sons" Live. Dream Theater frontman James LaBrie wrote the lyric to "Sacrificed Sons," which is a reflection on the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York City. At the beginning you hear clips from news coverage of the event. th-cam.com/video/-884PYAfoiw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lw_6JZ_AbPWsXRpY
I would like to make a suggestion for your reaction ,since you find James LaBrie ,vocalist for Dream Theater soulful ,and very feeling of every word he sings ( which I agree with) He has a few solo releases ,and side projects ,that are very good listens , but one in particular is with "FRAMESHIFT" ,BY Henning Pauly ,off the "UNWEAVING THE RAINBOW " release ,and the song "LA MER",a concept album which Henning wrote specifically for James' vocal ability, that deals with DNA and genetics. Its truly worth the listen. Thank you, Mark.
I think the two of you should dedicate the next month with reacting to Dream Theater only. They certainly have enough songs plus I can tell you’re fans just after hearing 3.
Since i have seen which dream theater songs you like, i suggest you listen to these next Breaking all illusions Barstool warrior Lines in the sand Through her eyes The best of times Blind faith Surrender to reason Sleeping giant I am pretty sure you will love all of them. And then there are their most crazy, heavy and longer songs, like Metropolis pt1 The glass prison A change of seasons Lie Home Octavarium In the name of God And many many more Welcome to Dream Theater fanclub!
Ive just contributed to your "thanks" page . Would like to be a Patreon. I have quite a few suggestions that Id love to hear your reactions to. I am a recording musician from New York ,and California ,and I find your reacts very insightful ,and from the heart.
Only 1% of people know their music and almost all of them are big fans. In absolute nombets they are not that big, but in relative, they are the kings. You won't find the audience more loyal than theirs! Never and nowhere! DT don't have a very large audience, but they have the most loyal audience ever.
THIS, friends, THIS is how you introduce people to Dream Theater! NOT Octavarium, NOT Dance of Eternity...NO!!!!! STOP DOING IT!!!!!...Start with choices such as these...
Next do Once in a Livetime mid section :) Or To Live Forever Tokyo!

Guys these songs are amazing but they are no very representative of DT's catalog. You should listen to songs like metropolis pt 1 or take the time to start with them.
OMG! There are TONS of epic dream theater songs yet all these saps keep recommending all these slow girl ballads. Pick a few on your own and listen to the REAL dream theater.
You just witnessed one of the greatest solos from one of the greatest guitarists on the planet
One of the best guitar solo ever.... and he plays this live.. amazing... many players can play fast.but all noise and random notes...but John Petrucci is one of a few rare guitar player that can make anyone cry while playing lighting fast... such a Legend

"when you know what you are doing. you know what you are doing." Perfect for dream theater
Dream Theater -The Best Of Times, best emocional song ever
Yes, they should react to this one 100% the studio version is just fantastic! You guys will love it
I also agree with this song choice
Would be interesting a dive into the more “metal” side of Dream Theater. Songs like The Glass Prison, Endless Sacrifice, Panic Attack, In The presence of enemies…but the best thing to do is listen to the full concept album “Metropolis pt2: Scenes From a Memory”. A timeless masterpiece.
Never have I seen a better comment on youtube
All of these songs are great choices. I would also add Pull Me Under
And the another Awesome song - Lie 😎
I absolutely love their Budokan DVD. The whole band was just killing it that night.

James Labrie is the singers name. You are correct he does emote the lyrics which fits with music brilliantly.
They also have long epic songs (20 min plus) that include both soft melodic parts and heavy metal parts, with a little more rawer vocals. The mix is perfect!!!
The best two examples are according to me:

I love your reaction so natural
I have this concert on DVD and Blue Ray, and I've watched this performance probably at least 50 times or more and I've seen them play this live and every time that solo hits, my eyes water.. So good..
Amaizing Song, amaizing band! Thank You!
Nadie toca mas bonito que John Petrucci
John Petrucci got guitar lessons from Steve Vai... apparently, it worked out quite well;)
Sorry but when was he Steve Vai's student?? R u joking? Lol.
@@AttilaHun-p9e hm... come to think of it, don't know how I came up with that;) would have been awesome though;) my bad....
John Petrucci : Guitar God!
You should react to Dream theater - Count of Tuscany.... the ending of this song is simply EPIC
John Petrucci, one of the best on Earth
Absolutely love this DT song. As an avid musician and lover of music, my two favorite bands of all time are Dream Theatre and Tool. Sheer talent and just hit the soul differently

Bands that transcend, are those that sound better live and dream theater is not an exception.. legendary!!
