It's interesting what NL said at the beginning about it feeling pointless if either the ball or the hill's level are removed. Sometimes life feels like there's no boulder and sometimes it feels like you're going up at a 90 degree angle. Either pointless or soul crushingly difficult.
I recently accomplished something that had been a miserable grind for six years and everyone thinks I should be happy, but I'm just like "Bro, they took my boulder away!"

thank god hes back from vacation, my parasocial arc as i listen to nothing but NL streams in the BG while i work on moving across the country on the hypotenuse is going crazy rn
People going "what have the mathematicans ever done for us" in the middle of the AI boom/craze is insanely funny to me in a self-deprecating way. Like yeah, that's *technically* IT, but like the entire concept is just rebranded Algebra really, just lines and lines of matrix manipulations, you guys can give us at least some credit
As a professional software developer that deals with financial stuff and trying to make a game on my spare time, I can confirm I take a lot more care at the office than I do while making sure the hitbox on the character model's nuts registers a collision.
I just dont get it. The elden ring playthrough was fun for both him and chat. The multiplayer visit was a lot of fun. He bantered through it so idk what hes complaining about regarding its complexity. If he keeps going down this path hes literally going to be only interested in yahoo chatroom games.
Im graduating from a masters degree in computer science next month (or at least I'm pretty sure I'll graduate, not got the results yet) and I can confirm the coding part is easy, but the theory part is not. Formal methods and maths modules were crazy but those are also the only ones that benefit from paying £40,000 for a degree in it whereas learning to code is done better and for free on TH-cam. In the middle of my degree I did a year as a software engineer, I joined the company the same time as a self taught programmer. I was typically more efficient and wrote theoretically better code, but also he got paid more just because he was a proper employee and frankly the company didn't care how efficient we were as long as it worked because optimising code would just become another task for someone else later.
I graduated as a Chem.E. but I'd argue that physics and C.S. are both harder than Chem.E. I know you were joking but Bio can be really hard depending on the institute. C.S. is super easy and then all of a sudden they transport you into the matrix with data structures.
Yo NL I don't know if you're going to see this but please don't let chat dictate what you're going to play. I'm sure if you told us to behave beforehand, we would. You have a pretty good chat, all things considered.
12:25 Mathemagicians are out here incanting numerological hexes. Arcane geometry the likes of which hasn't been seen since the time of Ozymandias, and people question their purpose. 31:45 Seriously? I think I'd rather clean 20 dishes than cook one meal; it's like pulling teeth, even simple stuff. I end up just not cooking until I'm practically feral with hunger because it sucks. Just feels like such a waste of time, and you have to babysit it for multiple minutes, and there's time limits involved, and sometimes it comes out wrong; same steps, different results; AND to top it all off, it _always_ tastes better when someone else makes it, so why even bother doing it yourself anyway?! ...... Just get canned soup guys.
Cooking, like cleaning, is a skill. You can't just follow a recipe to get good results, you have to learn the theory and practice it. At some point you had to have learned that hot water is more effective than cold or about soaking or when to use brushes versus a sponge when cleaning. Cooking is the same way. I recommend ChefJeanPierre here on YT if you want to actually improve. He teaches the why and how.
lmao it’s so cringe hearing someone say gauss jordan transformation in chat to sound smart. anyone could understand a gauss jordan elimination with 20 minutes of time on the wikipedia page and most learn it in high school under a different name
NL should Ball the fuck up and play the elden ring dlc he's gonna lose either way from chat. Mf might as well just actually play and try to enjoy it if he's going to at all.
I like to pretend Sisyphus is having this deranged dialogue with the boulder
Sisyphus calling the rock chat and yapping non stop is just a great image
The iron boulder reflects a warped reflection back at him and he's talking to that.

I clicked the video and let it play in my headphones. Until this moment i had no idea what game he was playing, which is peak content imo.

Asking what’s the point of philosophy while playing this game is pretty hilarious
why do you let hate fill your mind brother?

We're sisyphus guys of course we must imagine ourselves happy.
What else do us guys like?

Hard mode: This game but in the first person, where you can't see ahead of the boulder 99% of the time.

one must imagine sisyphus playing skeeball
Genuinely yes I was waiting for this lmao

If I were Sisyphus I would just cut the boulder into small rocks and eat them. seems like a skill issue tbh

Or literally force you in the matrix with linear algebra and NN calculations where you need to manually predict backpropagation weights.
