The fact that you’re still trying to feed them in this temperature is mind boggling. No wonder they are flashing with all that rotting food polluting the water.

I feed them a mix of pond flake a fish additive and garlic mix have done for 10 years and when I had a camera in the pond a couple of years ago I watched as they took it yes some gets left behind and I take it out weekly dont do it daily as I dont like turning the air or skimmer on in the winter which makes the water colder. The pond has a 6" thick layer of insulation around it 2ft high on the outside wall which keeps the lower part of the pond at around 6 to 8c.
In Japan many people feed koi well below 8°C if they are active and koi taking food emerge in spring in good health. The same applies to the UK if the koi feel the need to top up the energy reserves that they are depleting in winter running their metabolic processes such as osmoregulation, their heart and their gills. Those koi also emerge in spring in good health with no signs of any digestive problems. I would also say I have not had any parasites on my fish in over 6 years and although I have everything to treat the pond and koi I have never used any. I feel the fish start to eat early and have the ability to fight off infections more through the year. I would not feed them sinking food like a lot of keepers do. Everyone has a differant idea for the winter feeding. Some drop Micro Worms into the pond these are live food which you can grow yourself in a 2lt bottle and Vinegar Ells. The fish will take these all winter.

@@PondKoiTipsTricks 90% of your fish look like rugby balls though which would suggest that they are eating far too much than they need.
