I appreciate your honesty Jimmy. There are some who totally sugar coat the nomad life. That can cause some people to make a huge mistake. You show us the bad with the good. Take care and be safe out there Jimmy and Olive.
You should be proud you got it fixed. Remember, most vans and campers don’t have off road clearance. They were made for nice smooth interstate highways.

Yes Jimmy it was a tough year for everyone. I'm glad for good people in these times. I hope your doing well now. Thanks for sharing. We appreciate you.
That was a beautiful shot of you at the end!!! I understand your dilemma, it's hard to live on the road, but then, what would you do? Living in sticks and bricks is very isolating, especially for someone who tends to have depression. Maybe if you did like Ausia and Rainey and bought a small lot of land to have somewhere to land for times when you need a break from travels. Maybe purchase an older travel trailer to put on the land for comfort. Then you could invite nomad friends to stop over during their travels.
maybe sell the van and buy a new one. once repairs start its never ending with a new one its just payments, in the long run payments and piece of mind may be much better, just a thought, hope you don't give up the nomad life you really seem to be happy doing it I wish you peace and serene times.........really miss Becky!!!!!!
I feel like I missed one of your videos. I don’t know how you came to be at this place. Or maybe I’m just forgetful. I never thought about the dangers before of living in a 55+ community. Wow. If I was living on the road I would have to be close to a tribe because I’m not mechanical in any way. In all my years I have never even had to change a tire. But, I was just able to buy a new travel trailer this past Saturday and it is being delivered today to my lot in a private campground. Over 1200 lots. Not allowed to live here full time though. I wish you well and hope you can find what and where your heart wants to be.
@@pattiwhite9575 I personally wouldn’t call him secretive. I think he enjoys sharing certain things but also enjoys a bit of privacy. Some days more than others. I can relate to that.
I tune in at times to several of the RV life channels & I have followed you since before your back surgery. I am 62 yo & not an RV'er. I do appreciate being honest on the cost & trials that a nomadic life deals with. For one thing I find the dessert totally unsuitable to me. You couldn't give me a million dollars to live in it. You are still a young man & I'm sure you have a lot of talents & I wish you well in your future. Choose wisely .
I spent 6 months at my parents home in a over 55 community last year. My car was hit 3xs. The first two minor dings in the walmart parking lot. The last one, she totaled my car, as it was parked in front of the house. Hit it so hard she ruptured the gas tank. I was told it was not her first, she took out their garage door in the winter.
Oh my goodness. It sounds like that gentleman definitely should not still be driving! I couldn't help but laugh at the image that came to mind as you were describing him sitting in front of his window.🤣
You did well to do the repair yourself. It had to make you feel some good to have such a great accomplishment. Terrible what the dealership wanted to charge. That was awesome of Russ to give you advice and safe place to repair it. Must be a lot of drinking in the park to be so many accidents. Beautiful sky in the end. Blessings in your days.
Glad things worked out, blessings to those who help sincerely🤗. Yesterday when the temp dipped down to -17 F, my van did turn over to start but it would not move! I needed to warm it up with charchol underneath- but didn’t have any so stayed home- getting Spring fever, so I took more things to get ready. Today it started and warmed up enough to drive. I live right near a lake, so, when the temp comes back up above 0, I might be brave and take it out to go ice fishing ( or just watch)... driving ON a frozen lake will be exciting enough.
I've truly missed your voice-I'm sorry about your van but God led you to a safe place to take care of things. Tomorrow will be a better day. Beautiful shots of you, Olive & the sunset. Thanks Jimmy-may God bless 🙏💕😘
Well, there you are. You disappeared again. Leaving me hanging on what was up with van problem. Glad you worked it all out on where to go , who to ask for advice, and help with fixing it yourself. You need to put yourself out there more on your channel and ask for advice. This is a big platform of helpful people. You could have gotten all kinds of offers of help if you just would have said something. You can do anything you set your mind to. When my son was about 8 I had to get my house ready or a hurricane. My husband was busy so I had to cut some boards to fit my windows. I found a jigsaw and started measuring and cutting large boards on the back of pickup. My son told me "You can't do that your a girl". I whipped around in shock and horror and angrily told him "I can do anything I want, If I set my mind to it". I did a great job and saved the house. Same house year before. We had a neighbor that had a habit of going out to his truck at night in his tighty whiteys. But, wait....He was a very dark black man. LOL the tighty whiteys would float across the yard by themselves in the dark. He also would scare the shit out of me with his deep gravely voice. I go to take the garbage to the street and not see him out there and he would say hey or something to me.
How about going to a place like CVK did, rent a space or a mobil that is inexpensive, get a job in Phoenix or somewhere and take shorter trips to be with your friends. Seems like that would be less stressful so that you could save money for your emergencies.
Olive is such adorable baby you are good fur baby Dad. Glad your van repair worked out for ya. I was thinking what you said about not being long for nomad life. I was thinking how nice if you got a home base and then all your nomad friends could come visit you and have a place to camp for a while.
Jimmy at one point it looked like you were getting ready to cry knowing how dirty you were going to have to get in order to repair your Van's transmission. You reminded me of my baby brother, who (due to the closings of COVID) had @ 45 finally had to change his own oil and if you had seen him you would have thought he was decked out like a surgeon. {He's worked in the car business for over 20 yrs😂}. I really have felt bad for you this year with so many things going wrong with the van! Thank heaven you have a strong support group of friends! Russ must have been an excellent teacher & is a great friend. You and Olive hang in there! Things will get better!
You sure do have more than your share of mechanical trouble! 9:22 awwww.... What do you think you might do if you leave the road? So awesome you have Russ there, who helped you and likes Olive! Cool dog cookie toy! 19:23 that's one exhausting toy! So nice to see you and Olive again!
I used to live in Yuma 20 years when my ex was stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station. I wonder if that is the same Walmart I would shop. Weather is really good this time of the year. Enjoy. Good luck with the repairs.
Jimmy, get a offset box end wrench to get to that top bolt. If the wrench still wont get to it, heat and bend it to fit. I've done that too. Good luck.
Well I think I just learned where the term “elbow grease” came from 😆 and your assistant is adorable. Glad things worked out for you and you’re safe and sound. 👍
Dang Jimmy, stop off-roading in your van! 😮🤣 Hats off to Russ for helping you out with the mechanic work. I'm glad I had a tool that helped him out with it. Safe travels!
Im glad you aren’t sugarcoating van life. Its very easy for everyone to get lulled into just seeing the good parts. I want to get a van and would love to do a long trip but I dont think I would like to be constantly on the road. Frankly looking for a new place to sleep every night would stress me out. My place is AZ is at a 55+ park. I havent been there since last year but I am sure we have similar people at our park too. I just hope I dont encounter Tidy-whitey’s twin at my park.
Glad you had a great friend to help you with your van! Thanks for being honest about Van life! Most vanlifers only show the good. Good to hear the good & bad. Olive is so cute!
Hey, I've saved myself a lot of money being able to work on my RV and my truck I tow behind it. Have had to tow my RV with my truck I fixed the tow bar so I can attach it to the bumper on the RV and tow it with the truck if I need to, which I have done a couple of times. Can only drive at 35mph but save from $200-$300 tow bill. Stay safe and have a good one.
Im glad to hear your safe and working things out... Be well.. I think the shopping and they not only let you take the carts but someone else brings them back! Wow...
Love and hugs to you, Jimmy! Personally, I don't know anyone who's claimed to have lived on the road for 20 or 30 years. I'm not even sure I know anyone that's done it for 10 years by choice. I know you'll end up doing what's right for you and Olive. In the meantime, it sure is good seeing you two!
Good ol YT algorithm... 2 views and 16 likes??? Very understandable feelings. I’m glad you’re so honest on pointing out how the nomad life is not all scenic views and glamour. Keep in mind, this “year” has been rough on everyone to some degree because of the added pandemic and political stress. On top of that you’ve had major van stresses happening, now twice. Don’t be too hard on yourself for feeling burned out. How to find that balance between peaceful isolation and roads that don’t tear your house apart? Be well and good luck wishes for you. I’ll watch as many commercials as I can tolerate to do my little bit to help. 👍👏🖖😷
When you start doing things for yourself, the more easy it gets. Plus think about the money you save. It’s all about trail and error. It’s get better every time! But never bite off more the you can chew. Always work in you comfort zone. Good luck and best wishes.
I remember when you first got Olive and how frustrated and depressed you became. It’s such a JOY to watch and listen to you now. Olive is just precious and she enjoys your lifestyle so very much! I am so proud of you for sticking with it and so happy for you both! Hey! Get a park model and sit around in your Hanes so the new nomads have something to talk about. 😂LMAO 😂 I love you guys!!!❤️
Jimmy recall when you were stuck in one place due to your back/health issues, you got so depressed. You went into money shock over the possibilities of the transmission. Back in our youth, drag racing was changing out the transmission during the week after work so we could be back tearing it up the next weekend. A very expensive hobby, but with those challenges you learn to be a very good mechanic. Try finding a place and renting for a while to satisfy this current feeling. Owning a home is expensive also, just like a home on wheels you have constant repairs and maintenance. Either way, it comes down to money, so which would make you happiest ?
We're in a campground nearby you in Yuma and I know about the noise factor!! Plane's, trains, and automobiles!! And helicopters too!🥰 A whole lot of white noise and then some. We're looking forward to going back to the desert 🏜.
Your mechanical capabilities are stronger than you think, good job on getting your transmission back together. That park seems like a dangerous place, best to get out of there. Whatever you decide to do regarding being on the road, you and Olive will still be best friends.
Yes, nomad life is challenging!!! After 20 mons full-time, I’m questioning staying on the road much longer - so I get your solo wandering on a budget quandary! Maybe have a homebase & wander part time?
We were going to go full time, but due to these uncertain times, my husband's brain injury issues... we'll just travel part time. You just do what you need to do..
I never realized how much noise I had to put up with for over 50 yrs until I moved into our new house. We live out in the forest. Our noise is usually only the neighbors chickens and occasionally a plane will fly by.
Olive is nervous because she knows that another elderly driver that can't see over the steering wheel, might be headed out for some shopping and will probably lose control at any given moment... 🥺🥺🥺
Our neighbors at my mom's house used to back out and crash into our mail box all the time. Every member of the family did it a few times, too funny. After 10-12 times they built a brick mail box thing, lolol!!!!! The ppl in that trailer need to build a couple big concrete planters to keep the old guy from crashing into their house again.
Community is really important and good friends are hard to come by. Sounds like you've had a crap few months but I wouldn't give up. Maybe find a part-time home base so when you get tired and fed up, you have a place to retreat to.
Jimmy I am glad you are so honest. I am a lot like you . I am noise sensitive and not antisocial but I need time alone to recharge. The uncertainty of traveling sounds exciting but also exhausting
Well that was nice of your friend to fix your van... Goodness not to many people like that any more.. what ever you decide it will be just right for you and Olive...
Wow, that sure is a dangerous place to live, scary. Hi to Olive, nice to see you both. "Tried not to look", I know what you mean. That place would be far too noisy for me and the doodles.
Well I'm glad that you got your transmission fixed wow be very careful in that Park do what you feel is best for you Jimmy just share what you want us to know y'all take care be safe give Olive a belly rub for me and we'll see you on the next one
Wow the images are beautiful ..... Hang in the Jimmy .... things will get better .... you have been under a lot of stress and that alone will do a number on you ..... Big Hugs for you ..... !!!
I’ve settled in to T or C, NM. It was hard being on the road during this time. Great inexpensive place with a bohemian vibe. Hot springs soaking at very low rates. Very friendly people. Great places to drive to for overnight camping adventures. Hit me up if you need a local connection.
Glad too see you're okay. And Olive is doing good. Having good friends is wonderful. Having a safe operating vehicle especially in the desert is necessary. Where would you go if you had to get off the road? Doubt you'd head back to the Midwest. Could you really stay put in one place long term? 🤔. Maybe a different vehicle would help? Or get a parks membership thing like 1000 trails somewhere you could relax enjoy and move around the country. Its not free but as you've discovered free doesn't really exist for nomads . Take care of yourself Jimmy and give Olive a scratch for me . Peace.
Nice to watch your video Jimmy & Olive... Life could be challenging and could be more challenging even living in sticks and bricks... we work full time but we are stressed out on how we meet ends need... there's utility bills; mortgage; house expenses like stuff to fix etc; ... we watch nomad videos we wish we can go there in Arizona or travel around United statesas as we wish wherever we want to BUT since we own a house; family; bills to pay etc... the stress is more than nomadic life people... We can't just flick in one finger and go on the road for adventures because we have a lot of responsibility to take care.... Just hang in there Jimmy & Olive we love watching your travel and adventures... If you think you need to have a job maybe get a part time remote job it'll be easier for you & Olive.
Had elderly gentleman in a $500,000 RV drive it from Scottsdale to Quartzite towing a car with towbar while the car was in park. He had no business driving . Could barely walk.It was a new RV. Tore the car up. I heard someone came in from his home in Sacremento to drive it home.
Hi Jimmy I don't know what kind of bushes those are but if they're oleanders it's a good idea to not let your dog walk near them they're very deadly to animals I lost a dog years ago from accidentally getting some of the sap in their mouth just a heads up
Get a little condo in Florida or rent something. The long term wandering has got to get old. I did in 80s & 90s, and finally stopped in 2001. Best decision! Now, I can take small trips, then come home to my quiet comfy home.
Hi Jimmy from Florida, glad your making videos again. Hi Olive🐾🐾🙋♀️. I stayed at a real nice park in Yuma. I am in a nice one in Florida now. I have been looking at park models also but I still want to travel haha not wanting to waste money paying for spot if not there lol safe travels

Wishing you and Olive the best. You’ve done so well dealing with all the roadblocks put in your path. Peace and love.
You should be proud you got it fixed. Remember, most vans and campers don’t have off road clearance. They were made for nice smooth interstate highways.
Olive is such a precious little girl...we have blessings as well as trials in this life. Hopefully more blessings. Thanks for the video, Jimmy!
That is really cool of the campground host to bring the baskets back to Walmart. You are right, it's not all glamorous on the road.

Great to see you and Olive. Hope the fix works out, stay safe.
Olive is nervous because she knows that another elderly driver that can't see over the steering wheel, might be headed out for some shopping and will probably lose control at any given moment... 🥺🥺🥺
Olive and jimmy 👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼
Wow! Glad to see you again.
🙏🏼👍🏼👋🏼☀️
Tell it like it is Jimmy. Many think the RV lifestyle is glamorous. Glad you were able to fix your van. One less thing to worry about. Take care.
You are in a tough place. Hang in there, and things will work out. You will make the decisions that you have to make!
Jimmy I am glad you are so honest. I am a lot like you . I am noise sensitive and not antisocial but I need time alone to recharge. The uncertainty of traveling sounds exciting but also exhausting
Yes. Euc. trees, are very high in pollen, when in bloom....
Hope the van runs and drives great. Good to hear from you and Olive.
Glad you was able to get the van fixed cheaply. The sunset at the end of this video was awesome.
Many thanks for the new video. Glad all is well with the van now.
I’m sure we all can agree, true friends are worth more than money.
Well I'm glad that you got your transmission fixed wow be very careful in that Park do what you feel is best for you Jimmy just share what you want us to know y'all take care be safe give Olive a belly rub for me and we'll see you on the next one
Hang in there life is full of ups and downs no matter where you sleep, on the road or in a house.
Dave's RV Life recommends Shifters Transmission Shop in Jacksonville, FL (give them a call...perhaps they can refer you somewhere?) HTH
Wow the images are beautiful ..... Hang in the Jimmy .... things will get better .... you have been under a lot of stress and that alone will do a number on you ..... Big Hugs for you ..... !!!
Hey Jimmy, so glad you got your van fixed. I'm like you, no very mechanically inclined. Stay safe my friend!
You never respond to other comments to questions. I hope this new journey will be safe and satisfying. Love to watch you and Olive.
lol seems to be a semi safe place to stay.. I'm glad it all worked out, Russ is a great guy for sure. Hoping that we see you before long.
I’ve settled in to T or C, NM. It was hard being on the road during this time. Great inexpensive place with a bohemian vibe. Hot springs soaking at very low rates. Very friendly people. Great places to drive to for overnight camping adventures. Hit me up if you need a local connection.
Call senior protective services and get him some help. Some can't see it when they are declining.
Bless your heart. You sounded so sad. I’m sorry.
Peace.
Glad you got ur van fix see yah Jimmy and olive hugs always
Nice to watch your video Jimmy & Olive...
Life could be challenging and could be more challenging even living in sticks and bricks... we work full time but we are stressed out on how we meet ends need... there's utility bills; mortgage; house expenses like stuff to fix etc; ... we watch nomad videos we wish we can go there in Arizona or travel around United statesas as we wish wherever we want to BUT since we own a house; family; bills to pay etc... the stress is more than nomadic life people...
We can't just flick in one
finger and go on the road for adventures because we have a lot of responsibility to take care....
Take care I hope the van stops giving you trouble. Yeah 2020 was in the drain. 2021 not sounding to fab either. Could Scott give you advice?
Hi Jimmy I don't know what kind of bushes those are but if they're oleanders it's a good idea to not let your dog walk near them they're very deadly to animals I lost a dog years ago from accidentally getting some of the sap in their mouth just a heads up
Get a little condo in Florida or rent something. The long term wandering has got to get old. I did in 80s & 90s, and finally stopped in 2001. Best decision! Now, I can take small trips, then come home to my quiet comfy home.
Condos are pretty expensive and so is rent, unfortunately.
Hi Jimmy from Florida, glad your making videos again.
Hi Olive🐾🐾🙋♀️. I stayed at a real nice park in Yuma.
I am in a nice one in Florida now. I have been looking at park models also but I still want to travel haha not wanting to waste money paying for spot if not there lol
safe travels
I think that the gravel roads are hard on the vehicles. Best Wishes in your future endeavors. Life is a constant challenge I think.
