I’ve been at usf since I was a freshman, and I can say for sure that the campus life and school spirit has gotten way better the last couple of years. I can’t wait for new stadium, go bulls!
Hey Claire, I am also a transfer student. I will be starting Spring 2025 semester. I am majoring in nursing, and I'm glad I found this video. Very helpful! :)
awww yay! thank you so much for watching, I’m glad I could help you get a feel for what USF is like :) I hope you have the best time at USF, I miss it sm! 💚
I agree with everything you said, although I feel like with the kick ass mass comm program we just happened upon might make us more privileged than other majors as far as the actual education goes
hiiii!! I don't have a video explaining it - I totally should have made one though. long story short, USC was my dream school, but it was VERY expensive and honestly too academically challenging for me. I really loved my one semester in LA but it really didn't make sense for me to stay. if I would've stayed at USC I would've been in over $100K of debt after my 4 years 😭 so I ended up coming home to illinois, getting my associate degree from a local community college, and then chose to transfer to USF due to it's great location and relatively cheap tuition. it ended up being the PERFECT school for me and I can happily say that I graduated completely debt-free! thank you for watching - hopefully that helps answer your question :)
Hi I’m considering going here and was wondering what the process is to getting into a sorority? I’m also considering the rotc program and didn’t know if being in a sorority would take up too much time.
greek life was definitely a big pro for me! I never got too involved with the frats so I don't have any first-hand knowledge of any crazy hazing that goes on, but I don't think it is a huge thing in USF greek life. I truly don't know though. sorry I couldn't be more helpful!
hiiii I just responded to your other comment with some links! I don't know the answers to all of these questions but I’m sure your academic advisor could get you some answers/point you in the right direction :)
I’ll admit I’m old, graduated in ‘69 but as a mass communication major I would hope you have a vocabulary bigger than “Sucks” eg food, Starbucks, Amos’s. Also, as a resident, I always had to walk across campus: rain, heat, tornadoes. I love your enthusiasm and happy to hear about the advancements but no need to whine a out the mail, parking or food. It’s a university and will always be difficult if it’s worth going to. Go BULLS!
hi! the reason I "whined" about the things I didn't like is bc this is a pros and CONS video! 😆 also, using the word "sucks" does not mean I have a poor vocabulary...it is just how the people in my generation speak, and my videos are created to relate to them. thanks for watching!
hey!! unfortunately I didn't receive any aid and had to pay the full out-of-state price :( the only financial assistance I received was a major-specific scholarship that I put towards my study abroad
I will say though, USF ended up being one of my cheapest options even when compared to other schools that did give me some aid. USF prices are cheaper than the average university!
Quick question, would getting an apartment be a good option? I’m looking to transfer to USF possibly next fall after I’m done at the school I’m at now and I’m planning to bring my dog so I’m just curious cause right now I’m looking into as much as I can about the school
hey justin!! yeah, I think if you have a pet with you it would be best to get an apartment. there are a bunch of options near USF. I just recommend that you look into it as early as possible so you can get the place you want!! good luck!!
@ Hey 👋 thanks for the advice, my 2nd to last semester ended here and luckily I got my cumulative GPA up even higher now. We’re planning to look at town homes and apartments on spring break
hi! I can't say I have one - the mass comm program at USF is completely separate from any other programs. I don't even think i've set foot in one of the STEM buildings on campus tbh 🤣 sorry I couldn't be more helpful!
hi i am looking to study abroad at USF, what is it like for international students? also how is the nightlife, do you party on campus or in tampa? thanks!
hey marcus, since I am not an international student myself I can't speak too much on what the experience is like, but I met a lot of people at USF from out of the country and they seemed to enjoy it. there are a lot of different cultural groups on campus to join which seemed to be popular with the international student body as well! I’m not a big going out kind of person so I might not be the best person to speak on this lol. but in my experience, there wasn't a lot of partying on campus. most people would go to bars/clubs kinda close to campus (like ivy) or go to soho in downtown tampa for happy hour/on the weekends. one thing I think USF does lack is a designated "college town" kind of area that is walkable from campus and has bars, restaurants, etc...there really aren't any walkable bars near campus hopefully this helps!!
I actually don’t know much about the University of Florida, so sorry :( But if you’re wondering how to apply to USF (the University of South Florida), I can answer those questions!!!
hi, and congratulations!! that's so exciting! I have no doubt you'll love your time at USF. I don't know much about cybersecurity or USF Master's programs, but my biggest piece of advice to you is to explore Tampa as much as possible! definitely take advantage of the different resources USF has (free/discounted kayaking, sailing, etc) for exploring the area. here's a link www.stpetersburg.usf.edu/student-life/facilities/campus-rec/outdoor-recreation/index.aspx
thank you so much!! the USF application process is pretty simple -- I didn't even have to submit essays :) just follow all of the prompts on this page!! admissions.usf.edu/application

Sorry, fell into your vlog by accident, but now curious to see if you have a video that reveals the reason you switched from USC to USF? Thanks 🤟

You mention the Greek life being a pro in both pro and con videos. Do you know if the hazing and pledging is bad in the frats?
greek life was definitely a big pro for me! I never got too involved with the frats so I don't have any first-hand knowledge of any crazy hazing that goes on, but I don't think it is a huge thing in USF greek life. I truly don't know though. sorry I couldn't be more helpful!
