    love the jaylen brown appreciation! he’s been an absolute beast lately, one thing you guys didn’t really mention was his ball handling. It has been far better this season than previous seasons. It is partially because of his increase in strength but his dribbling ability has been notably better and has helped him stop errors that would’ve created turnovers in years past.

    As a Suns fan, I don't have any issues with anything Ishbia tried, I didn't think it would completely work and it hasn't but I'd rather have an owner swing for the fences than have someone like Sarver. Great offense, the defense just isn't there and it won't be there. I think the Suns can give any team a tough playoff series, I think they're one of those teams you want to play on the way to the Finals to toughen you up and make you work to get you ready for a Finals run, but in the end there are a few teams better all around. If we had kept Johnson, Bridges, and Paul we wouldn't be any closer to a title and when you have a Booker you don't want to go into full rebuild so took a swing, so far it's been a miss and that's just how it goes. Disappointing as a Suns fan but this is what it's like being a Suns fan, having good teams that just aren't quite good enough. I'll take this over the Sarver years where we were just bad and stayed bad. You don't win a title either way but at least we have a team that can compete every night and know we have an owner that legitimately wants to win.

    you'd expect Nurkic to learn from his mistake from the Celtics game and concede to defending Bobby Portis at the 3pt line -- atleast give some effort. but I really do think this is a roster issue. dude is has done just about everything the Suns have asked of him. can't expect him to be a quality parameter defender at his size. . . Not sure what more can be said about the offense. Rarely do we see all three of them having it going at the same time -- it's usually small spurts. When they're in trouble it seems like they either force a tough look or seek out a 3 from Allen or O'Neale. not what you'd expect from a super team. Vogel's small ball line-up worked in the second half, but ended with Booker and Durant gassed.

      They beat the Nuggets in Denver. Check what was different about that lineup and how they operated in that game compared to now. The SG they were feeding was Grayson Allen. They didn’t have 3 heavy mid range shooters in that lineup. Allen hit 8 straight 3s in that game because they kept feeding him and he was literally calling for the ball. That was when they were connected as a team. They only had 9 turnovers the whole game. Booker and Beal can’t be co-PGs and SGs in the starting lineup. It takes away from their strengths which is scoring and the offense becomes stagnant when they start taking turns doing isos trying to play hero ball. There’s no clear PG SG and SF when they play Booker and Beal together and move Allen to SF. Beal refuses to run the 2nd unit because of his massive ego. That’s the problem.

    Suns Lifer here as well 👋🏽 and yeah- this ‘23-24 season is making the personal record books along with ‘22 (a year where we were LEGIT title contenders before that epic playoff collapse) as Most Disappointing Season. For me, it’s the expectations coupled with the actual play and effort. ‘21 was special because of our young guys all ascending at the right time, the narrative context was different.
    But this year’s just a mess. We are a month out of the Play-In/Playoffs. 8th place, below .500 against teams with winning records- with the toughest SOS post-ASB. The body language has been deferential at best with the hydra of Book- Beal- KD often times look unwilling to assert themselves. Too many ISOs, too few Spain-style P/R or cutting with a sense of pace or intention. the KD ISOs to end shotclocks have been abysmal and Booker hasn’t looked himself after starting the season as an MVP candidate, then running into a regretable amount of lower body inuries.
    When the Suns traded CP3 and Shamet for Beal and Goodwin- it was a no-brainer, and I still believe that was the right call as those players do not have the same level of impact as Beal. But I also don’t believe Vogel is the guy to coach this team. His defensive schemes are good- Nurk has bought in greatly and has been a season highlight along with Grayson Allen, but offensively, guys have very little direction. Book isn’t using his natural scorer’s gravity to make plays. It’s all befuddling and maddening and makes me wanna watch the D’backs more seriously next week as a sports salve against this poor excuse for a season where we’re barely above .500 despite boasting two potential top ten guys who don’t have it this year.

    • @coltondodd3086
      @coltondodd3086 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Beal was the wrong decision imo. Also changing Vogel won’t solve everything, it’s 70/30. 70 percent the fault of the roster construction, what can Vogel do when his roster is deeply flawed as it is? 30 percent the coaching staff fault for not doing better with what they have.

      @@coltondodd3086 I agree insofaras the Suns capped themselves out of building a more competent team- but my question is, who would’ve taken on that CP3 salary? would it have been better than having Bradley Beal? and the answer is, no, no comparable value players to Beal could’ve been possibly salvaged from a trade.
      I think Vogel’s a decent coach- I’m certainly not trying to scapegoat him or anything, but his rotations are incredibly baffling as are his offensive tendencies. there’ve been boiling-over strays caught by all the assistents this year. There’s obviously miscommunication at the very least, the guys are professional about it but their body language is clear.

    I think everyone who watches the Suns knows their deficiencies but it's always funny to watch the strong reactions KD's teams get from analysts. KD played 8 regular season games last year with PHX and they ripped them when they lost to the Nuggets. Now this year. But those dangerous teams fighting for a chance to be in the play-in...watch out for them 😂
    But for the Suns, they need players willing to do the dirty work. If they want to start Beal, Book and KD then put an athletic PF out there to go along with Nurkic. They need a pg to run the 2nd unit and their version of a Herb Jones/Trey Murphy combo. Infuse youth and athleticism with the core group.

    The issue is the following... you cannot put three small guys together (Allen, Beal and Booker). They cannot defend properly the paint and they are not getting the rebounds. You need 2 of our top scorers in the game (KD/Beal, Booker/Beal, KD/Allen) and have 3 big guys to defend and grab the rebounds. If you put all 4 top scorers without rotating them, you will burn them. So in the 4th quarter they will implode because they are tired. Coach Vogel has to trust in their other guys to defend and rotate the 4 top scorers all the time to avoid this lack of size, defense and rebounds.
