    One reason I like these videos is that I can see how large a print actually is. It's one thing to see an option in a dropdown but it's hard to get a sense of what it actually means until I see someone literally holding one in their hands. I'm in a wheelchair so I'm not a good judge of this but you seem like a reasonably tall man.
    I have a DesignJet T210, got it used for about $100. HP ink is total extortion but the prints are good quality for a hobbyist and it's low maintenance. I print something simple once a week if I'm not printing anything major just to keep the printhead happy and it doesnt use much ink for simple prints or for the maintenance checks which I appreciate. I have read the Canons are really bad about using ink for maintenance prints, but not sure about the Epsons.

      Thanks - I'm 6 feet tall ;-)
      It's not really fair to accuse a whole brand of excessive ink use - the Canon TC-20M I'm testing at the moment seems quite good. That said all 24" printers do benefit from regular use

    My wife raised an eyebrow at the size of the P-300 I bought, which by the way delivers gorgeous B&W as your review suggested and thank you for that.
    If this turned up I am sure I would need a new home :-)
    Thank you for showing us what we could have if single :-)
    I wish you well sir.

      Ah, Karen helps run the photography business, and sees this as 'marketing' so will go along with it for a strictly limited period ;-)

    A most enjoyable and informative video, and shows the joys of printing large prints

      Thanks - yes i've been waiting for a 'big' printer to come here for testing for some time.
      I like all the A3+/A2 printers, but 'big' makes all the difference ;-)

      By the way, I have no business getting a printer like this - but you make it seem so tempting. But then I watch Captain Q and he checks out sail boats for sale and I have no business getting a sail boat! LOL

      Thanks - after looking at the big print, I'd make a few more adjustments and probably print it on a heavier paper, similar to the one I used in another video.

    free paper, free ink? have fun! :)
    You also spoke about color profiling etc., can you tell me how you profile your camera?
    Is this method also used "on scene" for pictures like that? Or when it is not used.
    I'm confused about that and wonder why I shouldn't be loosing all these nice colors if i would place a color card and profile with that in this situation, or use a grey card for white balance.
    In my mind that's totally counter productive for a sunset situation. or am i wrong about this?!
    thanks for your passion and dedication!

    • @KeithCooper

      I don't profile cameras in general - it's of no benefit for most things I do.Certainly not for photos like this one.
      I do sometimes make a DNG profile for handling specific light sources for some industrial and product photography, but it's not my standard approach.
      See here for an example using the more advanced SG CC card - normally I just use the standard CC card

      and

    I've watched other videos on the Epson 7570 printer and "paper meandering" happens all the time. Don't know why but hitting continue is the only way to finish a print.

    • @KeithCooper
      @KeithCooper  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes - I'm going to be some P9500 testing at some point, so I'll revisit this issue.

    What is the smallest size paper you can run through this printer. I like to use 4x6 inch paper when I proof with my Epson 3800 17" printer.

    • @KeithCooper
      @KeithCooper  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, you need to check the technical specs on an Epson site - it lists all defined paper sizes.
      The P7500 will not work with small paper like that IIRC
      Larger format printers like this really don't like tiny bits of paper ;-)

  • @kuau714
    @kuau714 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Keith if you had your choice for this image what paper would you choose…

    • @KeithCooper
      @KeithCooper  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A heavier one than this - most likely a semi-gloss baryta style.
      For a more 'commercial' look I might even consider a gloss canvas - not perhaps something matching my taste, but more likely to sell ;-)
      I've quite a lot of papers here from past reviews, so I may well return to this image and give it some thought...
