The DM, Slimecicle, did a reaction to this, and while I don't remember what class Jaiden's character was, he mentioned that the Zoot's spell focus was the tattoo on their tongue. That is why you will notice the animation pointing it out at times, and the symbol on it.
Really glad Jaiden had such a great experience getting into it. DnD sessions are perfectly possible through the net and the online tools from websites were great for managing a setting and your characters but man the monetization of those tools has really trashed getting new people into the community. Veterans can just do their own thing and write their own sheets whether its digital or on Pen&Paper but without someone to guide them new people just see the equivalent of a live service model and leave.
Check with your local game shops. The places where they sell collectable card games, and RPG supplies. They might have nights where they run a game, or they might have open tables where people can come in and set play on their own. If not, then maybe one of the employees will know someone who is looking or something. Not guaranteed, but a starting point.
There are discords where DMs and Players can arrange campaigns, look in the descriptions of Dnd TH-cam channels seeing if they have those kinds of discord servers
Also make sure you find a DM who will help you learn and understand the game and making a character. I've been at this for over a year and I'm still trying to figure out my human fighter!!! The grilled chicken breast with salt and pepper of DND
18:25 Time stamp for when i paused the video to make this comment. When you were talking about you being asked to dm, and then told to improv, it got me thinking. I was thinking of a campaign where you first had the players choose a race for their characters, so those races would be the only ones in this entire world. And these races existed on a isolated island, because it's the only landmass on the planet. Afterwards have them choose a class, and then make it so they are the only ones in the world with those classes, everyone else is either a regular citizen with no class specialization, or is whatever class is left over. And then have them to make their background with the requisite that it has to involve them being sent off to meet each other so they can deal with a coming calamity. After all that was done, give them freedom for the rest as long as they stay with in level 1-3 ranges in abilities and stats. The story would then be that they had to fight for the survival of their respective villages by grouping up against the monsters from other worlds invading theirs through portals. The kicker is that each portal that opens up will also expand their island landmass by a small amount. Thus introducing unknown lands and wildlife. It would also introduce more and more monsters. Starting slow and small then ramping up as time goes on. The funniest part about this is that it would also introduce new villages filled with new races. So their character would be dealing with races they know nothing about, leading to possible hilarious encounters and situations. All these new races would have tales of other worlds going through similar tragedies, the difference is they couldn't stop it. The story would then progress to a point where they would reach a strong enough level to then travel to these different worlds trying to save them and then return them to the original races that lived there, only to find it's too late. So instead they would have to save whatever little they can, and take it back to their world, closing that portal after finding a way to destroy the planet or the portal on the other side. The end of the journey is when they are able to kill off, or seal, the group of gods pulling the strings, or their avatars at the very least.
My first time playing DnD was as a Tiefling Druid who was raised by a Sentient Swarm of Bees, and had canonicaly gaslit her way into becoming the Court Wizard (Not a Wizard) of the King, and then subtlely manipulated him into exterminating all Chickens from his nation. This was agreed upon by the DM before the game started. The King was also a Level 20 7 year-old child played by my Sister's non-binary child (Every other character started at Level 4 since it was a One-shot). I also made a Kobold friend, who I couldn't understand the words he spoke, but I managed to charm him into following my will for all eternity, but one of my party members could understand, so while I was hearing giberish from him as he ran down a cave I chose to interpret it as him leading the way towards a giant chicken so I could kill it, since I asked him if he has seen any. But my party member could hear him going "Giant Kobold! The Giant Kobold is this way! We must feed her!". Turns out, it wasn't a chicken, nor a Kobold. But at the end of the session, the Kobold came out with this really deep voice speaking in fluent human... and blamed me for not asking if he spoke the same language as me. EDIT: I uhhh, can't remember the monsters name, but ti was this weird Fallen-Angel/Chimera/Slime thing, the more we wounded her the more slime that would appear, and so there was a river, I turned into a Crocodile to save Jeremy (Thats what I named the Kobold) by diving into the slime since he had been grabed by a giant tentacle, and swam up it to save him, throwing him out before nearly dying from eating the monster's flesh after we killed it.
I suggest checking Dingo doodles's Fools Gold DnD animated campaign. Not the "Sands" one, start with "Doomed the world with Kareoke" as the first episode.
Makari has helped convinced me to give DND a try now. Now I must know how small can I be? Can I be 5 inches tall, ride in other player's pockets and all that? I'm willing to risk being used as a projectile if I can.

It starts off mostly as comedy but it actually gets into a pretty serious story over time, and it's all based off of one of her games she was in. Also she played a wild magic monkey that accidentally almost destroyed a town with karaoke

Dont get me wrong i like 5e but to me way to dumbed down im not even gonna play the new one and all the stupidity that has been going on with the game made me say nah i prefer pathfinder 1st edition now and you let me give you an example of one of my characters her name is Hope Dreamur she is a tiefling her skin hair eyes all white she has rams horns that curl a few times she has clawed hands and hoved feat with a prehensile tail. Hope was abandoned at an orphanage as a baby she spent seven years of her life there she was feed after all the other children ate she received the scraps she was tormented by the other children and those that ran the orphanage didnt care after 7 years being there she was bought by a brothel. Hope for the next 8 years was made to clean, cook, prepare food and drink, and bring items to those who were busy. After those 8 years the first thing they took from hope was her innocence and from here the next 5 years were hell as rich noble men beat, torcherd, and humiliated her. what ended up getting Hope through those 5 years was a kind goddess one of love, beauty, and art shelyn she showed her beauty and kindness and Hope pledged herself to Shelyn. After those 5 painful years she was sold to the army and forced to fight for two years and in all this time all hopes pain and suffering she chose not to be the demon they saw her to be as she has seen true monsters and what not to become
d&d is such a white bread of ttrpg. why would I play if I can have at least 3 different systems with Cthulhu mythos, multiple Warhammer systems, Star Trek & Star Wars, Dune and Fallout. fuck, even MLP has one
It's fine that you don't like DnD. But coming on a dnd video just to say there are better ttrpgs is really lame tbh. We're having fun with our system. You go have fun with yours. It's really just that simple.

It depends on the dm and setting but in an all druids campaign i play in im a fairy thats 8 inches tall lol
