While anticipation and execution of set moves is a massive part of it, it doesn't mean that "reacting is too late" (which please, let's try to sound older than a five-year-old making inspirational quotes). Reaction is a huge part of any sport, it's just a matter of how fast one can react to something. A pro's reactions usually are on the point of looking like they are predicting, but really it's just they are used to the speed of the level of play they are at. It's like riding a bike or driving a car. At first, you need to put a lot of effort into making sure you are doing everything correctly, but after a while you don't even really need to think to do it.
That shot from Endo is so impressive. In such a defensive position against one of the best net player, but in to a winning shot. I don't know how you could hit that far from that position. Yamaguchi also similar but more closer to net shot.
