She still blames her election loss on Susan Sarandon and the Russians even though Bernie was robbed by the neoliberals in the 2016 primary. If you hate Trump, blame her as she pushed the media to prop up Trump thinking he would be easy to beat in a general election. Also blame Obama for being a neoliberal sellout that bailed out Wall Street while ignoring the middle class and poor. I doubt he comes back to college coaching for a year or two. He really hurt himself at JAX. But let's also be honest: Urban was told to leave at Ohio State. It was not reported that way, but I believe Ohio State gave him a 3 game suspension to let him save face, but told him he had to resign at the end of the 2018 season. I know some Buckeye fans love him, but I'm a Buckeye fan and would never want him back as coach. I doubt Florida fans want him back either. But I am sure there will be a college desperate to win who will offer him a job. Sad, but true. My feeling is that more stories of abuse from Utah, Florida, and Ohio State will come out and pretty much seal the deal on his future in coaching college ball. Give me Jim Tressell any day over this guy.

My gut feeling is telling me that we got played by Urban Meyer, I truly believe he intentionally sabotaged his career just for a money grab. I remember him having heart issues and when you watched him on the sidelines this year he'd constantly be leaned over with his hands on his knees. The lap dance, the kicking of Josh Lambo, not flying back with your team after a game? This dude knew exactly what he was doing, he took advantage of Shad Kahn's generosity with a large payday and now he's at home counting his chips.

      1. What the two commenters posted above as evidence is sufficient to dispel your theory.
      3. Beyond that evidence, to believe that Urban Meyer intentionally shot himself in the foot to get out of coaching in the NFL you would have to believe that he would rather be considered a pariah with a few extra million dollars then remain a football legend and compete to win in the NFL. Nobody expected the Jags to compete this year, so he was under no pressure to win now. Meyer was hired to build a program, and that is what he intended to do. It appears that the players and coaches didn’t appreciate how he was doing that… and that’s why he was fired.

@@benjaminberman6200 heres a little caveat to your last point tho. Maybe the rest of the team and maybe even the upper management knew that turning the teams fortunes around wouldnt happen right away or even this season. They knew it would probably take time. But maybe meyer didnt know. This is what i believe, because i think his bar grinding issue, his kicking of a player, his losing the lockerroom, stems from his frustration from losing almost every game. I dont think hes used to having a losing season in anything before. Hes pretty much won wherever he went before until the jags so maybe frustration and impatience got the better of him. Not excusing his behavior, just saying because all he ever did is win (most of the time) in the college ranks, he wasnt mentally prepared for a job in the nfl as a coach of a team that needed to essentially start from scratch.

Meyers Should not be hired back by any college. Society is telling us that they will not stand up for these types of abuses. So let’s see how smart the colleges are. If he’s back coaching within the year that tells you that the colleges don’t give a damn about their players their staff and humanity. They are more concerned about winning and getting money. And that is a sad comment.

The way he left Florida (“I’ll stay as long as Florida will have me” & “it would be a travesty for me to coach at any other school” then bolting a matter of months later, only to go to Ohio State less than a year after that… and don’t get me started on the Aaron Hernandez stuff), the way he left Ohio State, now his antics at Jacksonville… this is not new behavior. He has a history of saying one thing and doing another, and people ignored it because he won championships. Now we shouldn’t wonder how we got to this point. I agree, he doesn’t need to be coaching anyone ever again. Coaching is more than X’s and O’s. We need to live like character counts instead of just saying it does.

Art Briles hasn’t returned to college coaching. Urban is 10x better the coach but he also has 10x larger the target and attention on him. I don’t think Urban’s ego will allow him to go somewhere that he can’t get top recruits. He’s never been known to be the best X’s and O’s guy so not having the recruiting will be a massive obstacle for him. He’ll also be one college player speaking up away from the school getting a lawsuit, that might not be a big deal with a top program but it would be for a smaller program.

Nobody who wants to keep their job operates the way Urban Meyer was accused of doing concerning his behavior... now his behavior was 'on purpose' and not accidental. Now what happens is, he gets paid and compensated while relaxing and then he'll do the humility role showing the changes he's made so another situation will be his... he'll be a college and even pro coach again but he was coaching Jacksonville... remember, he was a candidate for the Dallas job but Dallas said no... so he's wanted other jobs in the NFL. Once you have a job you don't want, you plot your exit strategy and that's exactly what it appears happened.

I'd like to agree with you. Chances are, however, some downtrodden college program will pick him up. He wins. Wins = money. Money talks. I'm sure that if Ryan Day were to leave, THE Ohio State University would hire him in a heartbeat. In fact, had Pervin Liar done what he did at JAX while at OSU, they wouldn't care. They'd say things like "Well, that kicker deserved it!" or "His wife must have driven him to that lap dance!" Or "Come on, he was just trying to give that racist coach another chance. Are YOU perfect?" Or how about "Maybe he doesn't HAVE to know everything about all his players. That's why he has assistants. And maybe they ARE losers! Maybe he was right to call them out. Call me cynical, but I could see it happening. That's how it is in Columbus (and in America) these days...
