From what I remember, there are 3 bolts involved: 1 on bottom of alt, 1 holds the alt to a bracket, 1 controls tension on the belt next to top alt bolt. loosen but not remove the btm bolt first, then top. Loosen the tensioner bolt turning counterclockwise. Push the alt toward the engine block. the top bracket bolt will travel inside the slotted bracket. Move the alt until there is enough slack to remove the belt. Done.

@albumartist Well I ended up buying mine today. I was looking for a beat up one in good mechanical order. Well I found one here in Ohio for $1500. Ill be posting videos about it real soon, I hope to get some video of it when I drive it home in a little bit, might even put it up tonight if I'm not messing with the car all night. i hope you will check it out, and maybe give me some pointers along the way. I'm doing this on a budget so we will se how she turns out. Thanks for the inspiration.

Glad I could help. Are you getting any whining noise from the belts? It is very important to make sure the timing belt isn't too tight.

I just wish you did not skip showing us how to get the two belts off. How did you get the alternator belt off?

I broke my lower thermostat housing on this very car. I was sure I would have to remove the cam gears and timing belt to access the panel that covers these bolts but now that I watched your series here, I seems that the timing belt does not have to come off. I would like to remove as little as possible... Can I leave the valve cover on? The radiator in?

Ezra Goldman From wha i remember, you can access the housing without removing the valve cover. Same with the radiator. You'll have to remove the hoses going to the housing of course. After replacing the housing, remember to burp your radiator.

@bugnutz43847683 Thanks. How soon are you thinking of buying? After I'm done with the AC, which I'll try to get to this week, I may be selling this one. Still don't know if I'll try body work.
