Interestingly enough someone that lived near me decided to circuit bend Mario paint one night. Now we didn't take it apart and mess with the border nothing so as straightforwardly complex. No we opened up that thing on the bottom of the super Nintendo that look like it was going to be an SNES version of 32 x for Sega and while it was on WE jammed forks and butter knives inserted scraping around until I hit something it caused an air so bad somebody wrote code to go to a black screen we're strange objects and things not seen on Mario paint and music and sounds not able to be heard or used on the Mario paint music maker. I couldn't replicate it so at the time I just thought that hey I broke it, 20 years later I realize somebody wrote that program did you do that instead of well doing whatever it would normally do when you stick butter knives and forks into live circuitry 🗿

I've played with this a lot, despite not ever owning a SNES or Mario Paint! XD that is to say, I used the digital version of Mario Paint Composer, as a standalone computer file I downloaded. No pitch alteration like you have, but otherwise seemed to work... _mostly_ the same? Idk if it was available in the original, but in the one I used there was an ability to chain different files together as an arrangement, and I used that to make bits repeat rather than inputting the whole set of notes in a second time.

When pitched down, it reminds me of chamber music. Also, another, talented young man from the UK Sabre pulse use's the mario paint sounds (almost) extensively in his early productions like the album ChipBreak Wars. Highly recommend. I was never very good with the Mario music part so I usually just try to throw something together. That is because I would pair it as a background for the 16 slide(s) movie. The best one I could ever make and I still remember was a plane comes out of nowhere on fire explodes near a house Yoshi comes running out of the house on fire back and forth back and forth before dropping onto the ground. (LS, the plane would fly past trees also setting them on fire . it took me a week to make.

i have mario paint and it's great but a better way to do music with nes sounds is that program that lets you import the roms and it breaks out all the samples and instruments for that level on to different midi channels automatically...it's really cool...forgot the name of it right now but it's easily searchable...i think you may already know about it though
