Got my first uke a month ago. Been watching this man like crazy. I'm in love😗. You're an amazing teacher with great humor! You make learning fun and easy. However, you should sing more!!!
This one truly is a great beginner song for uke players. My wife and I just played this for our family for Thanksgiving last week. Thanks for the Dsus2/Dsus4 tip, I've been wondering how to spice this up a little bit.
TenThumbs Productions She got into it after I started playing, so she's been playing for about 6 months, me a year. She saw me playing it, and liked it so i bought her a Kala Soprano, now she's hooked :)
I think this just might teach me to play the Island Strum .. finally! I am going to play this until I am playing it in my sleep! Thank you for this awesome beginner tut, Tyler.
Your lessons are so nice and easy to follow! Thank you so much!! P.S. I love John Denver and its very sweet of you to show respect for him being gone too soon!
Kat Cook It is going to take a little while put it will get more and more natural. Try to come down on the Ukulele and just take it slow. A little bit every day and it will happen and turn into second nature.
+Karen Dunn Music teaches a lot of lessons, and one is harmony. It takes a lot of things working together to sound good. So, what I really want to say is, I am luck you are here. Without the Karens, no one would watch, and we wouldn't exist. So, thank you! Thank you for watching and thank you for playing Ukulele, happy birthday, you are going to have so much fun, let us know if you have any questions we would love to help.
A lot of love right back at you man, I appreciate at the really kind words and feedback. Have you checked out the website? tenthumbspro.com under the Ukulele tab we have all the songs we have done to date listed alphabetically by artist so you can go over there and browse through the songs and discover some new ones and some other resources to help you with your learning process. Thanks for the love again, right back to you!
this is my first song on ukulele, it's a really great lesson, I managed to do it pretty well, but it's still difficult for me to play and sing at the same time. I need lots of practise. But really thank you. What else can you advise me as a beginner?
+Yana Petruk Here is a tip to help get ya started on singing and playing at the same time. th-cam.com/video/_dV_-wEKLtQ/w-d-xo.html check out our website. If you are into the classics you could do Walk On The Wildside by Lou Reed th-cam.com/video/TYsbgFieZcM/w-d-xo.html a great beginner song.
Hey there. I'm brand new to playing the uke but I'm loving all the beginner tutorials. I've been searching for a tutorial of hootie and the blowfish, I only want to be with you. If possible could you post a tutorial or a link to this really cool song. Thanks 👍🏻
I have been working on this song as my ‘2nd’ song to learn. What I’ve been playing is ‘C’, ‘F’, and ‘G’ in place of your ‘G’, ‘C’, and ‘D’. Is that okay, or should I switch it up before it’s even more engrained in my mind that way?
It depends on your voice. I am playing it in the key of G, the key John wrote it in. If you want to play it like the original you should switch now, if you sing it really well in C and you don’t mind not playing it like John, you can stay with your version.
M Abramczyk Yes! Excellent, I go to Michigan once a year and have now for the last six years. I live in Medellín, Colombia. My Dad is going to retire next year and leave Michigan so next summer might be the last hurray but we are looking for ways to keep a summer presence in the mitten. When I go, if I can make it for more than a week, I always try to go the UP and I alway pass through Traverse on the way. Hand picked cherries for the camping trip are a must.
Try it without the strum pattern at first and just count, 1 2 3 4 and switch on the one, like G 2 3 4 C 2 3 4 and repeat and repeat and than strumming will be like coloring in the lines instead of painting, making it a lot easier.
Absolutely love your Ukulele tutorials! Me and my friends love to drive over to Lake Michigan and play by the beach! Keep up the good work! (: #ukelife
Hahaha, people hate the way I sing. For a long time it made me feel like crap to be honest, but hey, life is way too short, so sing bad if that is all you got! Thanks for the support.
TenThumbs Productions don't get me wrong I don't hate the way you sing. I'm worst if you must know. Haha. By the way, thank you for this tutorial. I actually have a struggle strumming before I saw your video. And it helps me a lot. I'm a beginner, the problem with other video tutorials who can really sing, their strumming was so complicated. Makes me miserable. Haha..thanks for making it easy.. life is short, yeah. 😂
Lord 124356 The are easier chords, but not some much songs. I would maybe start with a C chord and an Am chord, those being the two easiest and just change between those two with the strumming pattern. Once you get that strumming pattern down you can start to apply to these chords that may be more difficult for you. No two people learn the same, so just take your time, dont get frusterated, and it will come together faster than you think. If I can give you any tips or anything else besides that let me know.
I officially pick this as my first song to learn! Thank you so much for the clear easy tutorial
practice makes perfect :)
I just got my first ukulele and Im so excite to learn this song!!!
Katie Hemmings Super happy that we could help you get your first song going Katie. Awesome to hear.
Easy to follow, thank you!
Thank you so much!

+Hunter McDow Got to! That is the good stuff. Thanks for the kind words.
Loving your lessons, but I cant seem to get the hang of the G finger placement! It just feels really awkward for my hand.
Kat Cook It is going to take a little while put it will get more and more natural. Try to come down on the Ukulele and just take it slow. A little bit every day and it will happen and turn into second nature.
There are so many reasons why I love this video! Thank you so much. What a great find. Consider me subscribed. 😄

Concert, my preferred size of the Ukuleles, but I enjoy them all.
Is there any changes if i use soprano ukulele???
Nope, Baritones are tuned different, but soprano, concert and tenor will be the same.

D DU UDU
Yes he died to early
You entitle this video as "your first song" and then make it complicated which puts beginners off..just makes you look good, if that was the purpose.
I'm getting it, but when he started to sing i lost it 😂
Hahaha, people hate the way I sing. For a long time it made me feel like crap to be honest, but hey, life is way too short, so sing bad if that is all you got! Thanks for the support.

@@TenThumbsProductions I can't sing either unless I'm in the car alone and singing to a song on the radio, lol
these songs are not easy
+Lord 124356 There really aren't any songs easier, easy doesn't mean learn in a second, you still have to do some work, but this is an easy song.
TenThumbs Productions ohhhhh???
