Watching this after watching Snyder Cut. There are so many differences in just this one scene. From milliseconds of footage being cut that make it run smoother to dialogue that change how we view Stephenwolf. Like wow WB really didn’t know what they were doing

Still it would have been different because alot was cut away, Steppenwolf also turned a Amazone into a parademon here, but they cut that away. Jesus christ I just saw this scene in the Snyder Cut. The Amazons actually showed they were actually slowing him down. Holy shit I had no idea how much they butchered this moment until now.
The ZSJL version... They are literally throwing themselves at the enemy with a fervor that could earn them sainthood in the Imperium of Man. They actually use tactics and brutal, overwhelming violence with the clear goal of "if we can't kill him, we can at least buy a moment with our lives." They drop the entire fucking bunker into the sea like they actually understand how to deal with a super being. More of them actually have classical style armor instead of _just_ the leather archery bikinis.
It's.... It's honestly beautiful.

Correction:
Queen Hippolyta had already sent the Mother Box with one of her soldiers to her army. She paused at the cliff to pay respect to her fellow soldiers who were sacrificed with the hope of repelling Steppenwolf.
She wasn't expecting steppenwolf to be such a badass that he would somehow break free of the sealed bunker submerged in the sea and do a high jump that crossed a cliff.
That was one Helluva move 🐐
That one scene where the Amazonian with the bow slid just a liiiittle further so that she had time to aim and fire the bow before she got axed by Steppenwolf

Since they were bodybuilder strong, I'm pretty sure they knew they would have to sacrifice themselves in order to keep the wall up for a few seconds. 😂 What I don't understand is why didn't they hit the poles in succession, instead of all at once?? Each wall had a few seconds to spare in order for them all to get out in time.

To be fair the box was active for a while for the Amazons so they where better prepared while it was a surprise after 5,000 years of inactivity for the Atlanteans.

This was probably the best scene from the original garbage justice league, and the 15 sec Snyder Cut clip I just saw blows this out of the water.

Except for one thing: what's the point of killing yourself to seal a set of heavy stone gates, in a building with a skylight? From a villain who could simply boom-tube in and out at will? This scene is more Snyder than Whedon, a bad story device that just gives him an excuse to show muscles being flexed.

This was most of the heartbreaking, brave scenes ever. Hippolita had no choice but to leave the building, and close it off, leaving amazons trapped inside with those monsters. Also those amazons who closed the barriers were so brave, knocking the walls down on top of themselves, willing to die just like that. Must have been hard for the queen to just leave them like that.
Especially when she looks down with grief at the Amazon who was crushed by her own horse... Tears man
I couldn't enjoy this scene at all, because of the huge plothole.
Steppen Wolf was driven off once before by an alliance of Amazons, Atlanteans, human, Green Lantern Corps and Olympian Gods.
If you are unfamiliar with the last 2 , here :
- Green Lantern Corps are the Universe police of DC. Some of those guys can fight Superman head on !
- Olympian Gods are well, GODS ! Diana's father is one of them. Or, remember Ares from Wonder Woman ? Yep, they are that powerful !
If all of them need to fight together to beat Steppen Wolf, what is the chance for the Amazons to secure the mother box alone ? Absolute 0. The Amazons are brave but they're seriously dumb if they think their plan would work !

@Ultra Boy1000 Its pretty bad.... it has its moments, like flash vs superman after hes revived... but the CGI is so fucking bad man. Like when the perademons show up in this scene, and steppenwolfs face/mouth.... takes you right out of the movie. And the plot is fucking terrible. But thats what happens when it gets hot potato'ed between 2 polar opposite directors.

Ok, this movie was weak overall, but I was so amazed by this scene. The Amazons were so epic and intense. You got to see them use a variety of weapons, and make incredible sacrifices (those Amazons crushed under the gate were particularly intense.
The only major downside of this scene for me (besides Steppenwolf) was the armor. Even if Themyscira had a bikini season in terms of armor, I can't help but think they'd add some extra plates when facing an ancient apocalyptic evil.
Doubt armor would do much, even the amazons with armor were still one-shotted. In this case, mobility would have higher priority than defense since the Amazons are much more agile than steppenwolf
The movie was great but people always desperately look for other reasons to diss it. Like most things.

They didn't have time to put such armor on even if they were inclined to... it all happened in minutes. Besides that type of armor would weigh them down. Ancient Greek and Roman warriors didn't wear all that shit and the Knights eventually fell easily to crossbows because they were easy targets wearing all that crap.

This scene was over twice the length in the Snyder cut, and everybody involved (including Steppenwolf) comes across way better. More strength, more grit, more emotion...It's a tragedy what Whedon and WB did to this film. I'm ecstatic that we finally got to see the real thing.

I always thought this scene was the best in the whole movie. It was badass how all of them were willing to sacrifice their lives without hesitation to try and fulfill their mission. I also thought it was cool how it show cases different athletic bodies of women and how they all have different strengths but the same determination

This scene is like just kind of sad compared to how epic and amazing it was in the Snyder Cut.
IMO, the movie should've started here. Establish Steppenwolf from the jump. He whips the Amazon's asses and takes the Mother Box. Hippolyta lights the flame, Diana sees it on TV, prompting her travel to Gotham to find Batman, and we're off to recruit the team to stop the Invasion. Easy peasy.
