My first drive-in with a car of my own - double header - 48 hours & Flash Dance. The theaters would never let us in - but a truck full of kids at the drive in - it was all fair game. Gawd the 80s were great.
Such a great song! The other version doesn't have the tempo this one does and I can't find it anywhere else...The slower version is all that's out there...This version blows it out of the water!!!
I know what you mean ! I just watched that version and it doesn’t have the pace and rhythm and fury . I think the other version is a “Saturday Night Live,” performance, or Jay Leno or David Letterman Show gig? We’ve never managed to duplicate that sort of late night, appointment viewing , general entertainment and interviews show here in the UK . There’s just something about the genuine American shows like that!
One of the catchiest songs ever !!! I saw the film 48 hours when it was released in the cinema and then about 50 times since, and love this song and the movie!!! 👏👍
[last lines] Reggie : I'm gonna be an honest man from now on. Right? Jack : Good. Reggie : But if I *did* decide to be a thief, what makes you think you can catch me? Jack : [pause] Can I have my lighter back, Reggie? Reggie : [laughs]
LOL! Don't forget James -- at the end of the sequel (i.e. "Another 48 Hrs.") , Reggie succeeds in swiping Cates' lighter -- remember the last scene when Reggie is in the ambulance? :D
Cates: "I ran into your friends today Reggie -- they shot me six times!" Hammond: "Wow -- you don't look bad for a dead person!" Cates: "Well, I would be if it wasn't for this bulletproof vest! Now that would be a hell of a way to go, wouldn't it Reg? Getting killed by a bullet that was meant for you!" :D
Who doesn't know this song? which that's been the original soundtrack of 48hours and the perfect duo Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolten, I can tell when I have seen movies that there was pure action and adrenaline by all nice of them : a great couple of american uncommon on the San Francisco' streets, gags, amusement and many laughs. 🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️🎬🎬🎬🎬🎬🎬🎬🎬🎬🎬🎬🎬🎬😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Such a great song and such a fab movie ! It’s like Ivan Reitman Directed it . I’m not sure who directed 48Hours but it seems to come from a very similar school as the original 1984 Ghostbusters movie.
It was (co?)-Writen and directed by Walter Hill. Hill has scripted a lot of films. Amongst those writing credits are the movie Alien which was co-written with David Giler and production credits for those too through Brandywine productions. Ghostbusters was co written by Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis primarily. Both of SNL fame ofc.
The oldest one I can find is Freebie and the Bean, from 74, but 48 Hours is definitely one of my favorites (along with Running Scared, with Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines).
It is a shame the BusBoys felt the need to 'rerecord' this song. Like others, I think the original version is MUCH better. The only other way to find this is to look for old '80s movie compilations. I think one was an old VH-1 Big 80s movie edition (by Rhino I think.)
The sequel wasn't bad by any means : the studio had autonomy over it, original cut was over two hours and Haden (the late Frank McRae) was in a bigger role, reduced to a non speaking extra, Brion James (1945 - 1999) who played the main antagonist explained in some detail about this - check iMDB for its story. Despite fierce competition with Die Hard 2, Home Alone and GoodFellas et cetera, Another 48 Hours took $80,000,000 - rather good - if one adjusted inflation, its probably $300,000,000 in today's market!.
this is just ridiculous. they took the thin lizzy title and made a lounge act bullshit song. professional bar-band bullshit this is. having said all that, i kinda like it
Great song from a great movie. Back in the days when people actually made movies and music.
Amen brother! ❤
Reggie: “Jack? Tell me a story?”
Jack: “Fuck you!!”
Reggie: “oh that’s one of my favorites!”
Love that part
The funniest scene in the film
😂😂😂

"Jack, tell me a story"
I feel like driving down the 66 route.
This movie launched the whole Buddy cop genre.
Without 48 Hours, there'd be no Lethal Weapon & no Rush Hour XD
The oldest one I can find is Freebie and the Bean, from 74, but 48 Hours is definitely one of my favorites (along with Running Scared, with Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines).
Right you are Joe -- and there certainly would NOT have been Beverly Hills Cop! :D
...from the time when movies were cool, had good story and the misic in it was great.
Thanks for posting this Ken:)
Love this one and the sequel

Look I can help you get Ganz but you gotta get me out of here....gotta be in the street....I want Ganz as bad as you do...!
Could not imagine this movie with Clint Eastwood and richard Pryor. Nick and Eddie made a masterpiece . Too bad the sequel was garbage.
I honestly didn't mind the sequel
The sequel wasn't bad by any means : the studio had autonomy over it, original cut was over two hours and Haden (the late Frank McRae) was in a bigger role, reduced to a non speaking extra, Brion James (1945 - 1999) who played the main antagonist explained in some detail about this - check iMDB for its story.

Sequel was great the fuk you on boy?
Garbage? Not as good as the first but definitely not garbage.
