- I've seen a couple of people saying that using the D-pad during QTEs does work, but I tried doing that and it didn't seem to work for me, I might be missing something. Either way, I failed the QTE once here but I got it on the second time and I decided to go with this run if only to see how failing it looks like. Really great fights here.

I love how Yagami ended the fight with the same roundhouse kick to the brain that Soma used against him the last time they fought. The little details man.
It's also a karma for soma 'a taste of his own medicine' for killing sawa and for stabbing kaito.
another amazing details is the setting of their fight. since soma has dust allergy he immidiately flee to a less crowded and cramped place. in the freezer room on top of that, where the dust were non-existent and go balls out without any disturbance

I find it pr cool that Soma was a member of the Nikkyo consortium and uses almost the same counter that Sera does lol, kicking the leg to throw you off balance.
I absolutely love Sera as a character, so this makes my day
Sera taught his boys well
Since this game is set in dec 2021, I doubt that sera himself could have taught him that though, since Serena left the consortium to be the Tojo Chairmen in 88. Soma would’ve been a kid at that point in time. But it’s a nice reference all the same.
I love the fact alone that him and Akutsu were Nikkyo Consortium. I'm surprised they referenced Sera's group so many years later, and in a JUDGMENT game.
@@kaz101 Which makes me think they could reference MORE things like this in Judgement. Characters and organisations that Yakuza don't reference anymore. To help us see this things didn't disappeared and evolved/changed in the background.

I love how in the first phase of the fight, some of the grunts with Soma are reccurring RK Subbosses such as Miyamoto from the Tatami Room boss fight, or even Kaneda, Akutsu's direct underling and the one who asked about Kawai, and the one to unmask Saori's ploy to leech off info
That was such a cool little detail.
Or that one buff guy that you had to take down in the RK stealth mission and was in basically every RK boss fight

My favorite boss fight ever especially with the theme that sounded like a slasher movie soundtrack. Really fits well for someone as sinister as Soma. Luckily I was able to do a tiger ex boost ex action finisher on this guy just like being able to use crane's ex action on those group of guys.

What I love about Soma is that while he is extremely smart, he’s a dramatic bitch and keeps making careless mistakes to be cool and intimidating, like how he walks away all dramatically and leaves killing Yagami to Akutsu
@@jeremytewari3346 Let’s be real, the main reason Soma is like this is because of how he’s written here. Realistically, I doubt he would say and do all the dumb shit that makes him “dramatic”. Don’t take this as me hating on Soma though, he’s an amazing villain regardless.
To be fair Soma admitted that he enjoys fighting and killing. Kinda like Hisoka from HxH, he's gonna have fun while he's trying to kill you.

Snake Style was definitely useful for this boss fight tbh
I found it much easier with Crane Style to improve my speed. But Snake is good enough for timing with parries.

Personally, I consider Soma and Kuwana to be final boss 1 and final boss 2 respectively, kind of like Tendo and Masato in LaD.

i think Soma might be the only RGG boss i used all styles available against. not because i needed to, no no. It's because i wanted to hurt this asshole ever way Yagami knew how to

Gotta love how the intro to Soma's boss fight is not just a dynamic intro but also a battle with a mob that's almost like a long battle.

Had a hard time beating this boss a few days ago. Making good use of the Snake style charged attack to apply Agony status was a very big factor that helped me pull through this fight (and the one that followed).
Soma can legit teleport behind you. Scary shit 😨
I like how Soma also dashes around when he's doing his stab attack. Just like Majima using Mad Dog counter in Majima Saga K2. Same asset probably.
Also, happens in Yakuza 0 when you Grab-Throw using Thug/Brawler for Majima/Kiryu if you move L joystick as animation starts.
I felt that this fight felt like more of an end game fight than with kuwana.
Same for kaito files and yakuza 7
Both had their toughness but this fight is 100% harder to cheese w the ex actions u have compared to kuwana.
Kuwana's final clash is more about a clash of ideologies whereas Soma is the fight against the main threat of the game.
Soma's theme sends shivers down my spine....

The implication is that Yagami’s senses are dulling due to the temperature of the room. Or at least that’s the explanation ive come up with as to why Soma’s movements would be interpretted as such from Yagami’s point of view.

The song name is viper which basically describes Soma in a nutshell.
I am very aware that its not something to be cocky about on Normal, but i love the idea of not healing when fighting the final bosses... Makes the rush feel so much more powerful! I beat Soma with very little health, and when i started the fight with [Redacted, no spoilers] i quickly healed up, but didn't heal at all through the remainder of the fight, also beating the boss with like 1 health. It was super epic.
I almost wonder if Soma is more twisted than Kuroiwa. They seem as equally psychotic and yet, there’s something about Soma that makes me think “Who’s crazier? A guy who works for the government that tortured and murdered an innocent woman or a crooked cop who killed for money professionally and killed yakuza as well as a father figure to the main characters?”
I say Soma is more a twisted fusion of kuroiwa and arai from yakuza 4. Arai was a undercover cop join yakuza who was to keep tab on the tojo clan and was a man with some honor even if he has to get his hand dirty who works for the chef of police. Kuroiwa was a information dealer turn assassin.
Soma is pretty much someone who loves his job in a twisted way. I don't know much about Kuroiwa except his obsession to gouge people's eyes (I know there was a reason for it don't kill me >_>U)

Honestly, I thought he was a fusion of Hamura and Kuroiwa.
Soma is somewhat the Leader of Yakuza Clan who have power and he was cunning and plus Hamura loved brining the fear out of people.
But Hamura lacked strength in battle I mean he was one of the easiest boss fights. Hell that why fighting the hired the hitman to fight us contantly.
But Soma also is just as scary,deadly, ruthless as Kuroiwa.
@@alphawilliams7923 the first fight with Soma he won against yagami and almost kill him if the bartender didn't call. Kuroiwa was losing the first fight to yagami so bad that he have to pull out a gun to stop the fight so Soma is a better fighter and hit man than kuroiwa.
When Yagami got separated, I pumped myself up, took a deep breath, ... and spammed energy balls at Soma until he was on the last 2 bars of health. After the ki dust cleared, he didn't seem as tough as I thought he was going to be. Then I tried to use Tiger Dances with Crane, but I couldn't put him in agony (he kept parrying my snake attacks), so I just used the ground recovery EX move.

@@senorbongo4975 A DLC essence thing. I found myself using cheese tactics like that (essences and easy EX moves) a few times in this game. Kinda sad, but now I'm replaying Yakuza 0 and getting better at regular combat.

That one Serpent style move that counters knife attacks made this fight a cakewalk tbh. I'm surprised more people don't use it to fight him.
Considering there’s in my opinion 2 final bosses, I wish you could’ve fought Kuwana and Soma at the same time. That would’ve been epic, but the story would’ve had to change drastically
Or make that a Mêlée à Trois. A final boss battle which makes you fight both Soma and Kuwana but they are not allies and will attack each other as well.

What I like about this boss is his walk that makes him go full Ashura senku and stabs you in the process. It gives me a creepy vibe that reminds me of Walter from Silent Hill 4 (except for the guns I guess)

Soma was incompetent he had a opportunity to kill yagami but didn't that because he's a guy and most men think small and he believe he was invincible thank to public security and the RK also he didn't have to kill sawa she wasn't a threat and he shouldn't have left the tojo clan before it disbanded both judgement games so far had incompetent antagonist
i liked the fight a lot. but in my opinion it wouldve been cooler if kuawana and yagami dealt the final blow together in the following cutscene. it would furthermore underline that yagami fought a foe who is more capable than him. and it wouldve fit the theme, since soma was a villain to both the Main protagonists.

Same, and even though he had to lose for the sake of the plot, realistically I think Kuroiwa would've beaten Yagami and made short work of the villains here. The dude was casually sidestepping bullets in a cutscene ffs lol

Kuroiwa was shown to be at least equal even during their first fight. In Soma's first fight he's in control the entire time, and even when you "beat" him he's not tired or bleeding and he just one kicks the shit out of Yagami.
I still find Kuroiwa more entertaining tho, equal fights between mirror matches are the best.

Lost judgement has the worst antagonists because they were incompetent weak and no brains. Judgement also had bad antagonist but some of them had brains
Somehow fighting Soma with almost no attack is much more fun than having upgraded your attack

Is it normal to consider this game has 2 final bosses? Both of them has the same health amount and different objectives.

Is it just me, or does the ally AI seem less aggressive compare to how they were in the first game? Because i don’t see them attacking the enemies aggressively like in the first game
I don't know what the deal us with that. I've noticed it a lot where they clearly could've attacked but just stood there for no reason while I'm fighting someone.

Maybe the devs didn't want to rob players of their opp to earn more SP? Still find it incredibly dumb and somewhat immersion breaking tho since it wouldn't have been much of a loss in terms of points, given how infrequently you get people fighting alongside you throughout the whole game. And players can always grind on their own if they wanted to farm more SP. The opp to actually see the others kicking ass and taking names with Yagami would have been so much more meaningful.

@@TheDude-xp4vb There are other bosses in LJ more aggressive than the final one. So I think it's based on character and fighting style, though Judgment's final boss was definitely supper aggro as an enemy.
