Bodyboarders are like ants, as soon as one finds a a tasty crumb there's a bazillion of them swarming a once tranquil wave...well I guess surfers do the same thing too. Just seems that much more annoying when it's spongers. And yes, I myself a surfer, admit that spongers appear to fair a bit better than the standups
bodyboarders dont own standups. standing up in waves like this is deadly hard. bodyboarding isnt. i ride both. and i admit standing is harder more rewarding if you make it yet way more deadly.bodyboarding you just kick and paddle into it under the lip or over the ledge. look at how much fitness and skill goes into the standing. i hate this argument but i hate more bodyboarders with no respect or understanding of both, make that standups too who have no idea about bodyboarding as well.
I love how all these bodyboarders vs surfer kooks go on about who's better or who owns this wave,fact is that this slab is one of a million slabs cranking in in Ireland and this one just happens to be the one spot that's flooded with surfers and bodyboarders,they had to blow this spot out of proportion to keep you all away from the other spot you kooks!and one cant say surfing is better than body boarding and visa versa.surfing takes much more balance and taking of on a wave like Riley's on a surfboard is way more technical that a bodyboard,however doing aerial moves on a bodyboard you don't have the option of bending your knees to launch of a section or swinging your arms to rotate,doing an air reverse on a bodyboard is alot more technical and requires using your core strength...the differences go on and both sports a different you cant compare kricket to football???
