I can't believe what I'm seeing, I had the same motorcycle, built in 1994. In '99 I needed the money and had to sell the Ducati. It was my second motorcycle, no electronic helpers, no ABS and a clutch that was unbelievably tight. A motorcycle for men that didn't forgive any mistakes but was more fun to ride than today's motorcycles that don't demand anything from the driver because the motorcycle corrects every driving error itself. Thank you for uploading this and I'll keep an eye on the Duc too. Rust on the bottom of the tank and constantly sweating cylinder. Greetings from Austria
A beautiful demonstration of the smooth on rails handling of a well prepared Ducati demonstrated by a rider who knows exactly where he is and how to make the most of it. Watch the G meter this guy was just riding on the limit smoothly no extreeme bracking, accelerating or swerving. Piloting for comfort, swiftly. Reminds of young Hailwood.
This Grandpa can surely hustle 😄. I love the white frame&wheel combo on this generation 900SS. It seems like a very forgiving and sweet handling bike. The intake noise is addictive. Keep the videos coming and be safe!
This guy knows what he's doing,i can see how things could quickly go very badly wrong for those without great track knowledge, there's no room for error on a motorcycle and mistakes are brutally punished, particularly one without ABS,traction control etc.
😍🤩👍Luftfilter offen, offene Termignoni, entsprechende Bedüsung, Brembos - damals war‘s bei mir. . Herrlich war es und schön ist es immer noch oder? Danke 👏
A great riding and very efficient style! I tested the 900SS and the even more beautiful 851 in the spring 1990, when they came on the market. And bought the 851 the same day. It was way more precise and much easier to ride - and the difference of power, whauuuuu. But hey, your are doing a great line and let that old lady fly. There was no other bike those days which could keep up with the Duc‘s in these high speed corners! And in good hands it‘s always fast, still today. With 70-80 HP at the wheel we were flying over the Land. Todays riders have no clue what was possible those days 😎. Another member of the famous 150+ generation 😱.
I’ve owned several Super Sports. All from the last fuel injected series. These are truly honest motorcycles. That one in the video might be making 85 HP, 62 FtLbs. max. This is the example of more chassis than motor. Yes, very forgiving, easy to ride all day without wearing yourself out. The key to going fast is to hold throttle, and back off throttle as you turn. It’s very hard to turn throttle on. Then, just power through the turn, and on your way. My present bike is a Ducati Super Sport 800, with GDM done forks; a track refugee. It makes 74 Hp, probably 54 FtLbs. It’s the perfect bike for spirited riding, and can do, and hold its own at a track day. Ducati ought to bring back the Super Sport series. After all, it is the bike that brought Ducati first real world wins, as well as saved the company. It should be priced $12K~.
One of the best bikes I have ever ridden and owned. I love the midrange. Note the rider spends most of the time in the 5~6k rpm range. No need to spin it like crazy. Roll off the throttle and she glides through the turns. Nice sounding roar from the big twins, but not enough to hurt anyone's ears. I wish I didn't have to sell mine. Loved it!
A "95 900SS was my first Ducati. I .loved it and rode it for years.. Only sold it when it started getting hard to get parts. Tempted to get another, just for the occasional ride. Very nice riding. Fun to pass the youngsters on their new bikes.
Having munched an RN12 with such an old bike must have made your day! It certainly would have made mine. I like that lap like I hate my steak - Very well done! ;-)
Spooky this has just been suggested to me by youtube algorithm. 😲😲 Picking one up for my Brother later on Today, be my next project. Rear cylinder head bolts snapped on both most rear position. Got new improved stronger bolt set to replace all four. Just finished his Kawasaki ZZR600 and its in for MOT as i write this. 14-30 4th November 2024. When our mate Steve drops my Brothers bike off at my Brothers house later, going to pick up the Ducati with the trailer. Ducati is in mint condition as Steve did all the fasteners and nuts and bolts in Zinc. Fairing panels were in excelent condition. Hopefully ZZR as passed its MOT and i can get started on Ducati 900SS. 😎😎😎😎 Few other jobs need sorting first. My missus Mini cambelt kit and water pump. , 1.6 HDI diesel. My ZZR1100 my SAAB full suspension kit and replacement alternator and starter motor leads to positive battery terminal. 😮😮😮😮😮
Wow - impressive for an antique bike and nice riding. You really see how fast a modern Porsche GT car is though when it passed you and the other bike and disappeared! Also impressive!
Nicely done! 👌 Very consistent, you know your way around the "Green Hell" quite well! And it shows that the good ol' SS if well driven can still show a wheel to more potent and more modern bikes.
What a really rousing ride! You drive a perfekt line, so it's good to see, that you know the "Green Hell" very good! In 1996 i drove nearly the same way, same speed and same style with a 1995 ZXR 600R with a little bit over 100 HP. That was a very good time - not to much power, easy handling - so you can often drive with full throttle without fear! Thank you for this Video!
@Elaba_ I got after it more than my st2 and my multistrada. Rode it to California from Pennsylvania in 1993 . A few valve adjustments, and chains, oil and tires, tires tires!!! Crank main bearing failed at 195.000. First time it was apart. Traded it in for my 2001 St2. Sold that with 205,000 miles.
Nord is awesome for bikes. Polyphony Digital's TT had it before any Grand Tourismo. Didn't get to ride the real bike there but TT is one of those sims which you ride and start leaning left/right unintentionally.
Nice video and nice riding. Carrying plenty of pace through corners. Looks like Ducati sold them in Europe with no oil temp gauge. My Australian one from the same year has a third gauge.
Sounded like you were still dragging something (pegs?) in the tightest corners. I used to ride with a guy who had a 1986 F1. He rode in the BOTT race at Daytona in 1987 with it and placed in the top 10, and it was basically stock except for suspension tweaks and an open exhaust. It was a great looking motorcycle and one I'd look for if searching for a vintage street bike.
Awesome video! Which data logger (I use an original SpeedAngle) are you using to capture the lean angle and which software (I use some old software called Dashware) are you using to overlay the data on the video ?
Well done, but it looks like you could have gone a bit quicker, you never came close to the rev limiter, and 1500 rpm extra makes quite a difference with a Duc, at least it does with mine 😂
reving higher than 7500-8000 rpm does not make much sense with the old 2-valve engine, because it has no more power there and it also creates really strong vibrations. The engine is telling you clearly: "Do not want...." ;)
Although the redline allows more revs the heads do not, even with a gas flow treatment. And if you do the major work you then need the bigger (flat slide) carbs and shorter route to the engine. Then you have relatively less mid range and perhaps only 90 rwhp or a bit more. I had 2 different 900 S.L.’s and the only changes I made to optimize were a lower resistance air filter, dynojet kit, heated carburetor bowls for winter and a pair of Termignonis. Some said cutting a hole in the airbox lid helped but I’m not sure it did much. The oil pressure switch can leak (right side case) so watch that. And the swinging arm can crack on the early bikes near the shock mount. A fireblade or Kawasaki master cylinder was a cheaper option than brembo radial master and has brake light switch, steel brake lines also helped. Change the (good) oil often is important. Ohlins rear shock help if you push a lot as does a decent front fork internals kit. With that lot a steering damper wouldn’t hurt IMHO! On a road you don’t need more and it’s a ton of fun frightening modern sports bikes with all that easy torque out of bends :)
Plenty of life in that old girl yet, nice riding too 👍👍
Wow. Danke für die flotte Runde über die Nordschleife mit der wunderschönen Ducati. Eindrucksvoll. Ohne ABS, ESP, ASR, ARD und ZDF. Hut ab… Stay save
Fabulous lap. Great to see an expert rider showing at the 900ss can do on the ring. Thanks

Seeing how those newer bikes pull away like hell, but you catch them even quicker when the track is twisting, is really impressive. Nice drive!
Nice ride. I bought a 900SS new in 1993. I never got to the Nurburgring on it but did do a quick lap of the M25.

They brought the Supersport back in 2017 with a 937 Testastretta motor. They’re $15.5k now.

Excellent video. Still plenty of go in the Supersport model. I have a lightly modified '95 900SS. A most enjoyable and great performing bike. 👍👍
Its not the Bike .. its not the Rider ... Eggs, we call it Eggs ( and a lot of Practice ) Well done my old Girl & the Rider :)
Life was much better in analogue lol , nice riding fella
What a cool video, that makes me wanna pull out my 97 900ss and go for a hoon, well done from New Zealand mate,Im watching this again 🤠
Ring con 900SS ? Tu sì che sei un Pilota! 👏
Plenty of life !!¡ you better believe it!!! Put 197.000 miles on my 91 !! Loved that bike 🏍 👌
How many times did the engine needed repairs? What was your driving style?

The early 90s models don't have a oil temp gauge. Later models have it :)
No électronic. Just a bike with a ( good😄) man ….💪
Love it! I have a M900!
Amazing.....I Remember when I was young....the sound it's great...cottone filter? Open...?
Filter is standard
nice job man! nice bike!
Great ride , must be a race bike , because on left turn on 56° shifting up - 1:27
Ein wunderbares Motorrad, nur der Lenkanschlag ist übel🤕
ja, der ist gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber es geht schon in Ordnung :) ...merkt man ja nur beim Rangieren

Great riding. Guessing it’s running on modern rubber.
"semi-modern" rubber ;) ....Conti Sport Attack II ...more than enough for 77hp
It's amazing!
Listen to that thing GO!!!! wow!

Fantastic!!
Richtig geil 👌🏻
what do you think it would run for a time if you could get a complete clean lap with no traffic?

great ride!

GoPro can measure the lean angle :)
Cool
salut, très belle moto...
quelle monte pneumatique utilisez vous ? merci
Hi, I don't use a pneumatic lift actually. I raised the bike by sticking the fork more out and with a length adjustable Öhlins rear shock.
@@NBR_SK en fait, quels pneu ? cup 2 ?

how you measure degrees? Racebox?
Gopro is able to measure it
I think your lean angle is a bit 'optimistic' to be honest
it's actually quite accurate :)
Note: the road also has a certain angle in some places. This adds up with the lean angle of the motorcycle.
Sounds like the clutch is slipping
It isn't :)
Nope, they lock up tight and work great. Not so good for city work, but if you don't abuse the clutch, they last a long time.
