ABOUT SATURN AS A 'GRAHA' ('SHANI DEVA')
Astronomically, Saturn is the planet that is almost at the end of the solar system. Yes there are other planets that come beyond it but they're much further away in proportion to the inner planets one the other side of the asteroid belt and then the gas super giants that are Jupiter and Saturn.
In the solar system, Saturn actually plays a huge rule in protecting the Earth from vagrant asteroids that can smash into it and end all life. Saturn's gravitation is in many ways a protective shield for the inner solar system.
In 'Vedic' astrology, Saturn or 'Shani' is the planet of hard work, struggle, stamina, resilience, business and discipline.
Saturn can be a very restrictive planet as it teaches through difficulties and often gives the native many problems in the area of life represented by the house that Saturn sits in. This is why most people hope to have Saturn in a good placement and giving good results otherwise they fear bad things might happen to them. At the very least, with a tough Saturn placement, people expect a tough life.
See 'Shani' is the 'deva' of justice and order. That is why it is famously said "Saturn delays but never denies."
SATURN IN SIXTH HOUSE OF BIRTH CHART
When Saturn is placed in the sixth house, it is in the place of a friend since sixth house corresponds to the natural sign of 'Virgo', which is ruled by Mercury who is friends with Saturn.
However, since the sixth house is a very important house in terms of all practical matters of day-to-day activities that need to be done in a time bound manner, debts, routines, competition, calculations, finances and Saturn is well.. slow, steady and 'cynical' in nature unlike Mercury who is fast and 'collaborative', this placement becomes tough to channel in the native's execution of plans & tasks.
The planet in the sixth house is key to the individual's interactions with all things that are 'uncomfortable' and 'difficult' to deal with. With Saturn here therefore, this becomes a heavy energy to deal with since the individual's struggles, plans, karmic debts and 'stuck' situations become that much slow to resolve.
Although this is a great influence in the long term since Saturn slows things down not to 'mess' with you and give you pain but to force you to learn how to do it 'properly'.
Even so, at least till the age of 35, this is a very frustrating placement to deal with. Every other malefic here would probably work better than Saturn even Mercury himself and I have seen in my opinion, even Moon.
What do I mean by that?
I mean if you have let's say the North node 'Rahu' in the 6th, then it naturally lends a 'smartness' in dealing with matters of debt, struggle, conflict and competition. Even though in the long term it may be tough to deal with, in the early part of life, it ensures the individual doesn't struggle as hard (to the point of breaking down).
Similarly let's say you have Sun in 6th house, it makes you quite confident & courageous wrt your ability to take care of all the uncomfortable things in your life. There is a level of 'happiness' & 'confidence' attached.
With Saturn here up till 35, it just seems like a heavy heavy burden one has no other choice but to bear!
The twist here is that everything that makes this placement 'dreary' & 'hellish' even in the first part of life, is what leads to this individual becoming a tough-as-nails badass later in life.

Unbelievable. I had tears listening to this. No one realises how much we have gone through with a retro Saturn in the 6th. No one cares, no one understands. Born with two swords in our hands, constantly at battle with situations.
All we can do is embrace these 3 things I call it the 3d's. Discipline, Dedication, and Devotion
Literally!.. I have retrograde Saturn in 6th house.. and Saturn Maha dasha was also going on.. i got so many health complications starting from 20.. doctors said that many of my diseases could never be cured.. I got weaker and weaker and at one point, I wondered if I will even be alive for another 10 years.. around 29, it got worse when my dad got bedridden.. I was delaying marrying my BF cause of my health complications and it got really worse after my father became bedridden.. I had to take care of him and my mom.. he was bedridden for almost 4 years before he passed away.. I was close to getting bedridden myself.. I had to give up my IT job and lost all the money I earned.. life was like a snake and ladder game with only snakes, but no ladder.. haven’t been able to marry by BF and all the things that happened to me pushed him into depression.. I’m not into energy healing and my health is slowly reversing.. The storm is over but I’m still not fully out of darkness.. but I see the greater good in all this.. I know I have bigger purpose in life.. all the pain we went through, will make sense some day.. hang in there.. Just stick to path of dharma.. Your life will turn beautiful at one point..

Every single word is so true. I am engaged in problem solving of people professionally, and I always feel I have experienced everything, so I am able to solve others' problems. 28 to 30 years was so much difficult for me. Depression, skin issues, break ups, and whatnot. It definitely helped me become a stronger person. Sometimes I am exhausted by being so strong. But i struggle with discipline in life.

No entertainment, no social life , no support from friends or family . No one even cares, what am I doing . Life is full of obstrucles , hurdles and challenges. Oh my gosh that sang my Story. I am a cancer son, Aquarius Moon, and Virgo Rising. My Saturn is in the stix House and I had to raise my three sisters with profound autism. There was a large age Gap and to be honest it was too much for my mother to bear on her own. I have since gone on to have two children of my own and that has been enough to make me realize I truly did raise my sisters. I had to fight like all hell for just basic services because this was in the early 2000s. I was pulled from school in order to help my mom three different times. I had to put myself through college. I worked the entire way through pulling super long hours at a preschool while I was studying to be a teacher and having to do all kinds of practicum hours for school inside of schools. I ended up becoming a special needs teacher and ended up in advocacy work. The amount of work I've had to do in this lifetime is ungodly. My soul is exhausted but I will say this for it. I feel like if there's any karma I ever had I've paid it back. Threefold and I also got the chance to learn more with in a 10-year span. Then most people will ever do in a whole lifetime.

So true, he has a very deep voice and a very angry person, my son has Saturn in 6th house. He suffered a great deal , I'm always praying for him. He has Jupiter in 9th house. He is not working now, lost in married life, almost divorced. I can't blame my daughter in law. But he's a good photographer. His sun is exalted in 10th house. Cancer ascendant. He is 37 now. I am Leo ascendant so Saturn is in own house. Got thru tough childhood and faced various problems which got me good experience and made me tough. Every problem looks so small and easy as I have faced in life whether it plumbing electrical lawlessness technology related to finance budget skills etc. Now in later part nothing bothers me. I can understand any situation of life, political mechanical and adapt to it easily. You people have it in different signs, think about me I have Saturn in 6th in Aries with Jupiter. From the age of 16, I don't remember enjoying life, always difficulties and hard work and yet many times getting settle for low. However, I know that this blessing of disciplined hard work, perseverance, changes the equations and gives me the best, but I need to sacrifice my every relation, friends, enjoyment is also very short lived, things pushes me to do extreme hard work. Of course, I have become strong, but for 200% of my hard work sometimes I receive, 50% of results.
I am 25 now, and I pray to Hanuman (because Jupiter is with Saturn and Mars is in 12th house) everyday to give me strength, motivation to keep doing but also give me some relaxation such that I don't burn down. I can attest that for a 6th house Saturn retrograde native, age 28-30 can be quite tough. I had brush with death and faced financial, emotional and health related hardships between age 28-30 . I never shared this with anybody while I was going through the tough times, not even the so called family, now in my 40s, I am aghast when I look back. Also, I have came across some very crooked people in the past and Rahu being in the 6th has helped tremendously.

Oh boy!! The motivational messages were helpful. I have Shani in 6H in conjunction with his best friend Shukra in Sagittarius. Ketu is in Ascendent house too. Life is certainly difficult for me. I definitely feel that this is not my first rodeo on this planet and I'm an old soul. Lots of challenges and delays in life. However, I feel Shani is just making me tough to be a fighter. Shani is the strongest on the Shadbala strength table too. I feel I was born with intense past life karma. I'm currently going through Sadesati and on the 17th year of my shani mahadasha, life is tough but I know I'm going to make it. Everything you said is right.

Saturn 6th house retrograde in Scorpio. Yes, I have touched death many times and not died. My worst years started after the age of 33. Before then they were still bad but I had a little support. Now it’s zero support and lots of new problems daily.

I've this same placement but its retrograde and saturn is my atmakaraka too; going through saturn mahadasha. When saturn mahadasha started my kantak shani also started. The worst time of my life 2015 now I'm recalling i was exactly 31-32 when my Saturn made around, totally broke and devastated, cant remember worse period in my life. Luckily my Saturn is in Chitra, i survived. Meanwhile my Ketu is in 7th in Jeyshtsha, with Mars in the 3rd in Pushya.
