Take on the biggest of big boys and beat them. When Utah clobbered Harbaugh's Michigan at Michigan so bad that the only fans left in the stands at the end of the game were Utah fans it was glorious. 100k stadium empty if not for the remaining Utah fans. Michigan, Alabama, USC, Oregon, etc. Be afraid of nobody and eventually they will be afraid of you.

Love Utah. As a student in 60s and 70s, I sat in Utahs stadium for 1-10, 1-11 seasons for 20 years while others and the Y cleanedup on us regularly. I am thrilled we are playing well now. But, the Fickle Finger of Fate can turn at any time. Enjoying it while I can. . . .

No one wanted the BCA until the powers that be saw an uppity program from the WAC win the NC and realized their control on the money from the game was at risk. Couple that with the OU court case regarding TV rights and the "need" to control that revenue stream and keep it in the traditional powers hands and the BCA was born. BYU was first in line to bust the BCS but laid a fucking egg against Hawaii in the last game of the season.
I’m a die hard Utah fan and have been my entire life. Most everyone I know is excited and honored to be part of this new conference. I hope to see friendlier, more respectful dialogue between all the fan bases moving forward.

K-State fan here. I root for my team's best interest first, Big 12 second, unless it's KU. Don't have any history with Utah, so I don't hate them yet. I'm glad they're in our conference. They're a great program that gives the Big 12 another shot at the playoffs.

I'm a KSU Cat fan. I lived in the benches of Salt lake city for a few years. And actually played pickup Bball on the practice courts at Utah U.. I do like the Utes. Welcome to the Big12.

I remember that article too. BYU was totally what the U is today. That’s when I was a huge fan of the U and went those classic WAC games. Best memory was Utah clobbering BYU in ‘88 I was only 15 y/o at that time. My worst memory was Fresno State drilling us in ‘90. After that game I stopped going for some reason but kept being a fan until their move to the PAC. Not because of the move necessarily but their willingness to just leave BYU behind and not continue the rivalry. Utah wanted cream puff opponents for 2 games and the third game a ranked team. It was BS, imho.
I have been a Big 12 fan since it's inception. I was a Southwest Conference fan going back to 1960. I like Utah. Great addition to the Big 12.. I have no hate toward Utah at all. Hope they have a great season.
As a Ute fan, I'm excited about playing new teams and going to the games I can. I'm not from the state of Utah so always have to travel. I've never seen obnoxious Ute fans only passionate about their team. Even if our team is losing we fans stay in the stands supporting them. I've been to games we've lost, including at USC before we finally won in the coliseum. When Utah lost there the USC fans sitting around us were very rude but we stayed until the end supporting our team. When we were finally winning the USC fans flocked out. It was sad. We go, we stay, we support. Hopefully, we see that from other Big12 fans at games. Also, if the team we're playing makes a great play or is doing well or beats us, I don’t hesitate to say it was a great play, etc. Bummed if we lose of course, but have no problem acknowledging great play. I also hope the Big12 does well and can take out any SEC or Big10 teams any of us may play this season and in the future. Go Big12! Go Utes!
Utah is a state that is fiercely defensive about who we are and what we stand for. I’m not Mormon but I feel like Utah always has a sense of strong self respect. That goes for our teams ie the Jazz and our cities and our parks and our skiing and economy. We are not taking the disrespect anymore, some could argue not being included in the P2 conferences is an example of such type of disrespect. The truth is all I’ve seen is BXII insecurity and attacks since we’ve joined and it makes me feel more strongly to stand up for my people. Really great people, btw

The Utah fan base is loaded with ex-Mormons who enjoy turning the sports rivalry into a vendetta against religion in general or the LDS faith in particular. The rest of the Big XII will soon see, if they haven't already, that sports conversations quickly devolve into jabs about Joseph Smith or polygamy or you name it. They just can't leave it alone.
As an Utah fan, I am pretty tired of this Big12 vs Utah thing. I think both sides have been frustrating and I’ll start with the Utes. Some Utah fans especially on social media have become more arrogant in recent years and definitely looked down on the Big12. However, as an Utah fan it is annoying to continually have accolades dismissed for a variety of excuses with the most used being that we played in a weak conference. I hope this year as the Utah fans travel to other stadiums and visiting fans from the rest of the Big12 come to Salt Lake City that the overhyped bad blood from the offseason will mend itself.

As a program I think Kstate, OSU, are definitely same level and consistency as Utah (TCU & Baylor can be too in the past but less consistent) - The reason why Utah got the benefit of being on top this year is really effected by the fact we got our 2 time P12 winning QB back this year. Media likes betting on winning QBs

I’m a BYU fan. I have ties to Utah. My grandfather played for Utah in early 50’s he was really good and got drafted by Chicago Cardinals. My father though was BYU fan so I’m blue through and through and love the Y. I though don’t hate Utah. I don’t care if they win except for win they play BYU.
Well, when you are good, they all gang up on you. Utah beat Oklahoma State without Cam Rising. The final score looked like it was a great game. But Utah dominated until the last half of the fourth period. It was never really that close. Look ahead to the remainder of the schedule, the Utes likely run the table and win the conference championship.
I’m a BYU fan but the people I interact with about college football are Utah fans. What I’ve found is beer, sometimes lots of it, make all college football fans more tolerable for myself.
As a Ute fan I’m rooting for every big12 team each week that’s not playing us besides TDS. Every team is gonna have annoying fans, but super happy to be here and looking forward to creating new rivalries 🙌

It is the job of every one else in the conference to give the frontrunner hell. If iit wasn't Utah iit would be OSU or KSU. Big East fans hated WVU for the same reason. They especially hated the hype video that began with the voice of Will Smith from Ali chanting, " The Champ is here, the Champ is here," while the video showed the litany of Conference Championship and BCS Bowl trophies, when they came to our stadium. It is likewise the job of the Conference Champion or front runner to brag and rub it in. It's part of football fandom.
As a Utah fan I can agree with you about the natural hate but we never root for BYU to do well. Individual former players yeah but not BYU as a whole. We hope you go 0-12 every year.

Sam Leavitt is alot better passing than he has shown. Just look at his highschool stats. He has a very talented receiver group. He will get it going in the passing game. ASU hasn't needed much of a passing game so far, cause they are dominate rushing the ball. If Texas State trys to take away the run, it will open up our passing game. ASU gets the win! GO DEVILS!
This is long but educational Drake ~ Actually, I have a lot of admiration for Kyle Whittingham and his program. The disdane for Utah is about their AD/Administration and much of their unbelievably obnoxious fan base. You have to understand the substantial histori difference between BYU and Utah in so many ways. A quick summary: 1. Utah owned BYU until LaVell Edwards came along. BYU was 5-35-3 vs Utah before Edwards. 2. After Edwards became HC, BYU dominated Utah until really K-Whitt and Urban Meyer teamed up. Oh how the pendulum swings after Edwards retired. 3. Academics and religion matters in two key ways: ___a. BYU is a really high achieving institution, top 100 for decades, currently #36 in the 2025 Forbes best list. Consider Notre Dame is #42. Utah was essentially the after tough institution for Utah HS graduates because getting into BYU was and is a very elite two stage process. Oh it will say something like 65% of applicants get in, but the ecclesiastic screening process that proceeds ALL applications weeds out 65% of young freshman wanna&be students before an application process even begins. Enrolled can't even apply until step one results in an invite. Handg some faux testicles from the trailer hitch of your big ugly Dodge Pickup and pull a 2.7 GPA, Utah would take you until it got a PAC12 step it up or out invite. Utah dis and so a 3.2 GPA is now a benchmark for most applicants. BYU is near 4.0 99% of the time. But ___b. It means LDS kids who are rejected from getting into BYU and often their parents become Ute fans and haters because they see BYU as snobbish. Since 2/3rds of church members real cost tuition and fees (1/2 for non members) is paid for by church funds keeping tuition very low, these is some resentment among tithe payers who's kids don't make the grades, literally. So a lot of jealousy is there at Utah. All BYU kids did was party less, study hard and got good grades while developing some talents. Extracurricular talents are also keys to getting into BYU and rightfully so when you consider every student is actually on a significant partial church paid for scholarship, including non-Latter-day Saints. 4. Another reason for the somewhat mutual dislike between fan bases is that BYU dominated the state when good and even when bad, it's Utah's version of Notre Dame to a Purdue and Indiana. The USU Aggies and Utah are the real little brothers. 5. Utah got a P-5 invitation from the PAC because of religious bigotry and everyone in sports media knows it. At the time Utah was in its last year in the MES it had still never really sold out RES except when playing BYU. Meanwhile BYU has been averaging nearly 62,000 fans a game since 1982, and 45,000 since 1972. BYU was truly a P-5 Athletic Department long before Power league designations existed. 6. When BYU was evaluated by ESPN and Fox prior to the Big12 invite, it was net revenue estimated to be worth $75.4 million a year and it boosted the then other 11 schools net media values by about $4 million. Utah was valued at less than $20 million. It's claim that it was worth $50 million lead to a rejection of ESPN's offer to match the Big12 and ACC and ultimately lead to the demise of the entire PAC12 conference. 7. The HOLY WAR. To be frank most Mormons hate this media created handle for the game. It has always been a huge rivalry and many people do not realize the number of television firsts that involve BYU and to a lesser extent Utah: ___ a. Television as a concept was actually invented in a BYU physics lab in the mid 1920's by Philo T. Farnsworth ___ b. The first NBC color broadcast of a sporting event was the BYU @ Utah game in 1953. Utah won 33-32 in a thriller. ___ c. The first post Burciaga SCOTUS ruling live TV broadcast was ESPN, Sept 3 1984 when #16 BYU traveled to #3 Pitt and beat the Panthers on national TV in color. It began an unending and highly agreeable partnership of various forms with ESPN every since then. BYU went on to win the NATTY that year, proving the value of seeing them play on the national stage. 8. Utah has done some remarkable things, especially under Kyle Whittingham. A 2-TD underdog to Alabama, the Utes crushed the Tide in a Sugar Bowl. Utah has a lot to be proud. Most dislike for them is self inflicted by a fan base that hates kids that are just smart, and drinks a lot of adult beverages win or lose. In the Interest of fair disclosure, I did go to BYU. But I covered both schools closely for two decades. I write articles for both Utes and Cougar Illustrated as well as the Football News out of Detroit. I'm a die hard Ute fan, but there has been way too much chest pounding in the media this year. I understand that the media, and Utah fans think the team is poised to be something special this year, and so do i, but let's see how the games play out during the season, before bragging takes place. My take as a lifelong PAC fan and new Big 12 fan. Utah was coming from the Mountain West, a lesser division when joining the PAC. Although Utah was playing at a higher level than the MW most of the time when they got bumped up to the PAC their obnoxious fan base, which is about 90%, had a little mans complex and constantly talked trash to opposing fan bases, not doing much on the field. The Utah fan base would get delusional in their hyperbolic rants online and successfully annoy any other team's fanbase they play, definitely not just limited to the Big 12. However, the last couple years in the PAC they started playing better and were able to win the conference. Now some of their obnoxious bravado is backed up by good team play, which makes them even more annoying and means they won't stop anytime soon 🤷♂
It could reasonably be argued that at the time, the MWC was the stronger conference when Utah left. Not moneywise, but in strength of teams. Think about it. Utah, TCU, BYU, with Boise St heading into it, with San Diego St doing pretty well too at times. Those b-ball teams were also pretty impressive. MWC would have eclipsed the PAC had they been able to convince the big three to stay, and kept it together.
Well, y'all should if not love us at least like us. Don't judge on a few fans on twitter. We love our Utes and are a passionate fanbase for the Utes and college football. And once you meet us you may just find out we aren't that bad. As many Baylor fans found when they visited last weekend we're pretty easy to like. Did we want the Pac12 to survive - yes. Do we wish we were part of the P2 - probably yes. As should all of the Big12 teams - the P2, if things continue as they are going - will rule the airwaves, the money etc. But, the truth is as a Utah fan - I've always had an affinity for the Big12. I felt we were more alike than different. It was the big12 & pac12 against E$ecPN and the talking heads pushing the big10 and sec. I hope the Big12 can push in and at the end of the day make the media want a P3! So go BIG12 win every game, except when you play Utah, and except for the TDS, its ok if y'all lose every game! 🤣🤣🤣

I think Utahs willingness to leave the rivalry behind ticked me off about them. They could’ve played every year still. Utah thought they were too good. They wanted 2 cream puff plus one ranked team on the OOC schedule. Funny thing was back in the day when BYU was big brother, they stood behind little brother and wanted them to move to the PAC with them. But Utah wasnt PAC material back then. Then Ron McBride came in and changed the culture. He deserves all the credit imho for Utahs ascent into the CFB stratosphere. Not Urban Meyer. McBride put Utah football on the map.

Trust me Utah fans can accept when our team is bad and be honest about it. Look at how we talk about the offense with Cam out last week. You guys are meeting us at a unique time in our programs life, made it to conference championship a few years in a row and then won back to back P5 conference championships for our breakthrough and then last year we genuinely had a pretty valid excuse with how many injuries (and that was even acknowledged by national media) and still won 8 games in the regular season. We haven’t had a true normal down season to humble us in a little bit. Utah is a program that ascended from irrelevant and not even in the club, to a nationally relevant and consistent team that just wants a little respect ✊🏻

Two undefeated seasons in 2004 and 2008 to bust the BCS as a MWC program. Yeah, sure, nothing of consequence... Pac-12 was down? In 2021, Utah upset #3 Oregon to win the conference. In 2022, Utah upset #4 USC led by the Heismann winning QB to win the conference. In both those cases, the Pac-12 makes the 4 team playoff if not for Utah. So yeah, you're right. Actually, very impressive.

We are returning a top 10 defense, have the most receiving threats in program history, and the best throw game/ throwing QB since Alex Smith who has already won two conference championships. Tail between our legs coming into a conference with a bunch of good but not great teams (Utah could very well be one of them at seasons end btw). Utah won in g5 and a weak pac 12. 10 and 4 title wins while playing 1 ranked team. Byu went 5 and 0 while utah won the pac title. I dnt hate utah. The fans expect us to believe in pac12 as a good league. 7 and 5 beat a 11 and 2 utah in bowl. Utah is up on the top 25 winning games still below osu and tcu. The bigger issue is the play at least 10 less game play to top 10 games.

My family has been big Ute fans all their lives and I’m a lifelong BYU fan. Attending some games at RES, long before the internet, I had bad experiences with drunk mean idiots in the stands during BYU games. It’s not just social media. As a UCF fan, we've REALLY tried to be the Big 12's villain. But damn Utah makes it hard to do it. lol
UCF is following in in Utah's footsteps. There is a formula for growing and climbing from irrelevant to powerhouse. Utah is still workin on it. UCF keep t up. Shoot high. Take on the biggest of big boys and beat them. When Utah clobbered Harbaugh's Michigan at Michigan so bad that the only fans left in the stands at the end of the game were Utah fans it was glorious. 100k stadium empty if not for the remaining Utah fans. Michigan, Alabama, USC, Oregon, etc. Be afraid of nobody and eventually they will be afraid of you.

Love Utah. As a student in 60s and 70s, I sat in Utahs stadium for 1-10, 1-11 seasons for 20 years while others and the Y cleanedup on us regularly. I am thrilled we are playing well now. But, the Fickle Finger of Fate can turn at any time. Enjoying it while I can. . . .
BYU created the need for the BCS....Utah broke the BCS... now they are both sitting at the big kids table.

No one wanted the BCA until the powers that be saw an uppity program from the WAC win the NC and realized their control on the money from the game was at risk. Couple that with the OU court case regarding TV rights and the "need" to control that revenue stream and keep it in the traditional powers hands and the BCA was born. BYU was first in line to bust the BCS but laid a fucking egg against Hawaii in the last game of the season.
I’m a die hard Utah fan and have been my entire life. Most everyone I know is excited and honored to be part of this new conference. I hope to see friendlier, more respectful dialogue between all the fan bases moving forward.

K-State fan here. I root for my team's best interest first, Big 12 second, unless it's KU. Don't have any history with Utah, so I don't hate them yet. I'm glad they're in our conference. They're a great program that gives the Big 12 another shot at the playoffs.
Please study the schedule before making that claim about Colorado…. They are going to win the next two games and get back their undeserved swagger, and then on the fifth game in 30 days, second away…. And the Nations leading rushing offense will go against Colorados non existent rush defense

I remember that article too. BYU was totally what the U is today. That’s when I was a huge fan of the U and went those classic WAC games. Best memory was Utah clobbering BYU in ‘88 I was only 15 y/o at that time. My worst memory was Fresno State drilling us in ‘90. After that game I stopped going for some reason but kept being a fan until their move to the PAC. Not because of the move necessarily but their willingness to just leave BYU behind and not continue the rivalry. Utah wanted cream puff opponents for 2 games and the third game a ranked team. It was BS, imho.

I have been a Big 12 fan since it's inception. I was a Southwest Conference fan going back to 1960.
I like Utah. Great addition to the Big 12.. I have no hate toward Utah at all. Hope they have a great season.
As a Ute fan, I'm excited about playing new teams and going to the games I can. I'm not from the state of Utah so always have to travel. I've never seen obnoxious Ute fans only passionate about their team. Even if our team is losing we fans stay in the stands supporting them. I've been to games we've lost, including at USC before we finally won in the coliseum. When Utah lost there the USC fans sitting around us were very rude but we stayed until the end supporting our team. When we were finally winning the USC fans flocked out. It was sad. We go, we stay, we support. Hopefully, we see that from other Big12 fans at games. Also, if the team we're playing makes a great play or is doing well or beats us, I don’t hesitate to say it was a great play, etc. Bummed if we lose of course, but have no problem acknowledging great play. I also hope the Big12 does well and can take out any SEC or Big10 teams any of us may play this season and in the future. Go Big12! Go Utes!
Utah is a state that is fiercely defensive about who we are and what we stand for. I’m not Mormon but I feel like Utah always has a sense of strong self respect. That goes for our teams ie the Jazz and our cities and our parks and our skiing and economy. We are not taking the disrespect anymore, some could argue not being included in the P2 conferences is an example of such type of disrespect. The truth is all I’ve seen is BXII insecurity and attacks since we’ve joined and it makes me feel more strongly to stand up for my people. Really great people, btw

I’ve never met an Utah fan that is the way you describe. During the Holy war, maybe. Outside of that we always root for our conference because when our opponents do well, it makes us look better.
The Utah fan base is loaded with ex-Mormons who enjoy turning the sports rivalry into a vendetta against religion in general or the LDS faith in particular. The rest of the Big XII will soon see, if they haven't already, that sports conversations quickly devolve into jabs about Joseph Smith or polygamy or you name it. They just can't leave it alone.

As an Utah fan, I am pretty tired of this Big12 vs Utah thing. I think both sides have been frustrating and I’ll start with the Utes. Some Utah fans especially on social media have become more arrogant in recent years and definitely looked down on the Big12. However, as an Utah fan it is annoying to continually have accolades dismissed for a variety of excuses with the most used being that we played in a weak conference.
I hope this year as the Utah fans travel to other stadiums and visiting fans from the rest of the Big12 come to Salt Lake City that the overhyped bad blood from the offseason will mend itself.

As a program I think Kstate, OSU, are definitely same level and consistency as Utah (TCU & Baylor can be too in the past but less consistent) - The reason why Utah got the benefit of being on top this year is really effected by the fact we got our 2 time P12 winning QB back this year. I’m a BYU fan. I have ties to Utah. My grandfather played for Utah in early 50’s he was really good and got drafted by Chicago Cardinals. My father though was BYU fan so I’m blue through and through and love the Y. I though don’t hate Utah. I don’t care if they win except for win they play BYU.

I’m a BYU fan but the people I interact with about college football are Utah fans. What I’ve found is beer, sometimes lots of it, make all college football fans more tolerable for myself.
As a Ute fan I’m rooting for every big12 team each week that’s not playing us besides TDS. Every team is gonna have annoying fans, but super happy to be here and looking forward to creating new rivalries 🙌

It is the job of every one else in the conference to give the frontrunner hell. If iit wasn't Utah iit would be OSU or KSU.
Big East fans hated WVU for the same reason. They especially hated the hype video that began with the voice of Will Smith from Ali chanting, " The Champ is here, the Champ is here," while the video showed the litany of Conference Championship and BCS Bowl trophies, when they came to our stadium. It is likewise the job of the Conference Champion or front runner to brag and rub it in. It's part of football fandom.

Sam Leavitt is alot better passing than he has shown. Just look at his highschool stats. He has a very talented receiver group. He will get it going in the passing game. ASU hasn't needed much of a passing game so far, cause they are dominate rushing the ball. If Texas State trys to take away the run, it will open up our passing game. ASU gets the win! GO DEVILS!

Actually, I have a lot of admiration for Kyle Whittingham and his program. The disdane for Utah is about their AD/Administration and much of their unbelievably obnoxious fan base. You have to understand the substantial histori difference between BYU and Utah in so many ways. A quick summary:
1. Utah owned BYU until LaVell Edwards came along. BYU was 5-35-3 vs Utah before Edwards.
2. After Edwards became HC, BYU dominated Utah until really K-Whitt and Urban Meyer teamed up. Oh how the pendulum swings after Edwards retired.
3. Academics and religion matters in two key ways:
___a. BYU is a really high achieving institution, top 100 for decades, currently #36 in the 2025 Forbes best list. Consider Notre Dame is #42. Utah was essentially the after tough institution for Utah HS graduates because getting into BYU was and is a very elite two stage process. Oh it will say something like 65% of applicants get in, but the ecclesiastic screening process that proceeds ALL applications weeds out 65% of young freshman wanna&be students before an application process even begins. Enrolled can't even apply until step one results in an invite. Handg some faux testicles from the trailer hitch of your big ugly Dodge Pickup and pull a 2.7 GPA, Utah would take you until it got a PAC12 step it up or out invite. Utah dis and so a 3.2 GPA is now a benchmark for most applicants. BYU is near 4.0 99% of the time. But
___b. It means LDS kids who are rejected from getting into BYU and often their parents become Ute fans and haters because they see BYU as snobbish. Since 2/3rds of church members real cost tuition and fees (1/2 for non members) is paid for by church funds keeping tuition very low, these is some resentment among tithe payers who's kids don't make the grades, literally. So a lot of jealousy is there at Utah. All BYU kids did was party less, study hard and got good grades while developing some talents. Extracurricular talents are also keys to getting into BYU and rightfully so when you consider every student is actually on a significant partial church paid for scholarship, including non-Latter-day Saints.
4. Another reason for the somewhat mutual dislike between fan bases is that BYU dominated the state when good and even when bad, it's Utah's version of Notre Dame to a Purdue and Indiana. The USU Aggies and Utah are the real little brothers.
5. Utah got a P-5 invitation from the PAC because of religious bigotry and everyone in sports media knows it. At the time Utah was in its last year in the MES it had still never really sold out RES except when playing BYU. Meanwhile BYU has been averaging nearly 62,000 fans a game since 1982, and 45,000 since 1972. BYU was truly a P-5 Athletic Department long before Power league designations existed.
6. When BYU was evaluated by ESPN and Fox prior to the Big12 invite, it was net revenue estimated to be worth $75.4 million a year and it boosted the then other 11 schools net media values by about $4 million. Utah was valued at less than $20 million. It's claim that it was worth $50 million lead to a rejection of ESPN's offer to match the Big12 and ACC and ultimately lead to the demise of the entire PAC12 conference.
7. The HOLY WAR. To be frank most Mormons hate this media created handle for the game. It has always been a huge rivalry and many people do not realize the number of television firsts that involve BYU and to a lesser extent Utah:
___ a. Television as a concept was actually invented in a BYU physics lab in the mid 1920's by Philo T. Farnsworth
___ b. The first NBC color broadcast of a sporting event was the BYU @ Utah game in 1953. Utah won 33-32 in a thriller.
___ c. The first post Burciaga SCOTUS ruling live TV broadcast was ESPN, Sept 3 1984 when #16 BYU traveled to #3 Pitt and beat the Panthers on national TV in color. It began an unending and highly agreeable partnership of various forms with ESPN every since then. BYU went on to win the NATTY that year, proving the value of seeing them play on the national stage.
8. Utah has done some remarkable things, especially under Kyle Whittingham. A 2-TD underdog to Alabama, the Utes crushed the Tide in a Sugar Bowl. Utah has a lot to be proud. Most dislike for them is self inflicted by a fan base that hates kids that are just smart, and drinks a lot of adult beverages win or lose.
In the Interest of fair disclosure, I did go to BYU. But I covered both schools closely for two decades. I write articles for both Utes and Cougar Illustrated as well as the Football News out of Detroit. I have great respect for a lot of the people at Utah. My wife and much of her family are Utes.

I'm a die hard Ute fan, but there has been way too much chest pounding in the media this year. I understand that the media, and Utah fans think the team is poised to be something special this year, and so do i, but let's see how the games play out during the season, before bragging takes place. Too much is bad karma.
My take as a lifelong PAC fan and new Big 12 fan. Utah was coming from the Mountain West, a lesser division when joining the PAC. Although Utah was playing at a higher level than the MW most of the time when they got bumped up to the PAC their obnoxious fan base, which is about 90%, had a little mans complex and constantly talked trash to opposing fan bases, not doing much on the field. The Utah fan base would get delusional in their hyperbolic rants online and successfully annoy any other team's fanbase they play, definitely not just limited to the Big 12. However, the last couple years in the PAC they started playing better and were able to win the conference. Now some of their obnoxious bravado is backed up by good team play, which makes them even more annoying and means they won't stop anytime soon 🤷♂
It could reasonably be argued that at the time, the MWC was the stronger conference when Utah left. Not moneywise, but in strength of teams. Think about it. Utah, TCU, BYU, with Boise St heading into it, with San Diego St doing pretty well too at times. Those b-ball teams were also pretty impressive. MWC would have eclipsed the PAC had they been able to convince the big three to stay, and kept it together.

Well, y'all should if not love us at least like us. Don't judge on a few fans on twitter. We love our Utes and are a passionate fanbase for the Utes and college football. And once you meet us you may just find out we aren't that bad. As many Baylor fans found when they visited last weekend we're pretty easy to like. Did we want the Pac12 to survive - yes. Do we wish we were part of the P2 - probably yes. As should all of the Big12 teams - the P2, if things continue as they are going - will rule the airwaves, the money etc. But, the truth is as a Utah fan - I've always had an affinity for the Big12. I felt we were more alike than different. It was the big12 & pac12 against E$ecPN and the talking heads pushing the big10 and sec. I hope the Big12 can push in and at the end of the day make the media want a P3! So go BIG12 win every game, except when you play Utah, and except for the TDS, its ok if y'all lose every game! 🤣🤣🤣

I think Utahs willingness to leave the rivalry behind ticked me off about them. They could’ve played every year still. Utah thought they were too good. They wanted 2 cream puff plus one ranked team on the OOC schedule. Trust me Utah fans can accept when our team is bad and be honest about it. Look at how we talk about the offense with Cam out last week. You guys are meeting us at a unique time in our programs life, made it to conference championship a few years in a row and then won back to back P5 conference championships for our breakthrough and then last year we genuinely had a pretty valid excuse with how many injuries (and that was even acknowledged by national media) and still won 8 games in the regular season. We haven’t had a true normal down season to humble us in a little bit. Utah is a program that ascended from irrelevant and not even in the club, to a nationally relevant and consistent team that just wants a little respect ✊🏻

In 2021, Utah upset #3 Oregon to win the conference.
In 2022, Utah upset #4 USC led by the Heismann winning QB to win the conference.
In both those cases, the Pac-12 makes the 4 team playoff if not for Utah.

And that was the Oregon team that walked into the Shoe with a mediocre QB and ran roughshod over Ohio State in their own house. They may not have ever won a Rose Bowl but they sure as shit will ruin your chances of making it there as well. We are returning a top 10 defense, have the most receiving threats in program history, and the best throw game/ throwing QB since Alex Smith who has already won two conference championships.
So honestly, what do other fans think we should be acting like? Tail between our legs coming into a conference with a bunch of good but not great teams (Utah could very well be one of them at seasons end btw). My family has been big Ute fans all their lives and I’m a lifelong BYU fan. Attending some games at RES, long before the internet, I had bad experiences with drunk mean idiots in the stands during BYU games. It’s not just social media.
