    Excellent! I've listened to the track at least 20 times now and I think it's great, great atmosphere, lots of liveliness. I use the RS7000 as my main sequencer for MIDI synths, but I seem to have underestimated the sonic possibilities of the RS.

      Thanks a lot mate.
      I think most users scoff at the internal sounds but patience and an open mind will go a long way in crafting something worthwhile. RS or elsewhere.

      @infiniteheight  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cheers! Yes, it was a fun box but I just used a few presets over and over so I didn't keep it. If I ever miss it I'll have a look at the cheaper NTS version :)

    • @iiaaiiaannaaiiaaii
      @iiaaiiaannaaiiaaii 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@infiniteheight Yeah, Its kind of nostalgic for me because at one point I sold all my gear but still had a drum machine the KP3 and a 4 track which used to make some songs. It's definitely flawed and kind of cheesy but I found the UI to be inspiring.
      Definitely more curious about RS7000 since Ive seen you and others use it on TH-cam. Can you use the Lfo's on samples?

    • @infiniteheight
      @infiniteheight  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, the LFO works on samples, but don't get the machine for its sampling. It does sample, and it does often yield quite good results, but unless you absolutely feel the need for more archaic workflows in your life, my advice would be to look elsewhere for a sampler :) Also the LFO is just fine but it is not the most powerful aspect of the machine. Have a look at the tutorials on the channel, it should give you a pretty good idea of what it does well. There's also one (mostly) sample based track on the channel, called "slow house" or something like it. Cheers @@iiaaiiaannaaiiaaii

    • @iiaaiiaannaaiiaaii
      @iiaaiiaannaaiiaaii 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@infiniteheight Thanks, Yeah, I checked your tutorials out, very cool stuff and some the ideas I am going to try to apply to other gear, like the 707. Really liked how you doubled the drum track and used time stretch and midi delay to layer the two tracks. Also, some of the melodic tricks you showed, very clever.
      A trick that I've come up with ( sure I'm not the first) is to run drum beats or whole parts into two hardware looper that I have wired up to send back and forth to each other or out to my recorded. Anyway, I leave the loopers unquantized and grab bits of the beat in ways that it loops back on itself in maybe a different timing or use them to collage a new part. I dont do this all the time but it makes me build parts that I would never have thought to order this way and also this technique can be used to create micro-times. Its fun, if nothing else, but I have built some tracks starting this way.
      I didn't mean to imply that I was in the market to buy an RS7000, just that i was interested in how it works/it"s capabilities. that being said when you said it has an archaic work flow, maybe its because you have mastered it but it looks very intuitive- Ive worked with some very frustrating pieces of gear and this actually looks really fun and I like the choices of parameters Yamaha arranged for the knobs and it definitely seems very powerful. Of course, I will take your word for it...hahhaa... I imagine sequencing could be tough (?).
      cheers.

      @@iiaaiiaannaaiiaaii the RS is a beast and it’s fast. The sampling aspect is archaic.

    I just have seen your RS7000, starting from scratch video. And now you combined the Kaossilator with it. I have the Kaossilator also. How do you combine those instruments. Are you feeding the audio from the RS to the Kaos? or do you use also MIDI to synch them both?

    • @infiniteheight
      @infiniteheight  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! I should make a playlist with all RS tutorials gathered in one place.
      This is a Kaoss Pad, I'm not sure it works the exact same as the Kaossilator, because I've never used one :) In this track I'm feeding the stereo out of the RS to the ins of the KP, and recording the stereo out of the KP through my interface. It's not ideal because the RS sounds great but the KP not so much, so you're getting a degraded signal. An ideal setup would be to have a mixer in between and using the KP as a send effect.
      For this kind of setup you can use a midi cable with RS as master or tap the tempo on the KP. It doesn't make much difference because it's really just to have them at the same bpm. Thanks for your comment, just let me know if you have other questions!
