    Perfect video, now I feel more comfortable changing out my snapped antenna mast. You did a great job showing how to diagnose and fix a broken tooth cable and keeping it in the shot with good views of it all. Extending the antenna before sucking it down does make sense, because it would be though to handle all that loose cable and maybe even cause damage if the mast doesn’t get sucked into its hole immediately, but with it extended it gives you time to line it up and get it in its slot as the antenna lowers.

    • @tongo117
      @tongo117  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what I've read the motor should stop running when resistance is met.. If the teeth on gears or cable are worn down not enough resistance and the motor keeps running.. Or possibly if your new mast is cheap aftermarket could be that the teeth are not long enough.. You might need OEM mast.. Same issue discussed here.. www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/98435-power-antenna-motor-runs-too-long.html

    I'm doing this on my 96 Nissan Maxima but I seem to be having an issue, I had a broken cord on the end of my mast as well so I took the motor assembly apart, cleaned everything out all the little broken pieces reassembled the gears put the spool back on put the case back on, remounted it in the trunk. The motor runs perfectly fine for about 12 seconds in both directions when there's nothing going into it. As soon as I try to feed the nylon cord down into it, it almost immediately stops after about a half a second. Then when I put the radio back in it, it runs for about a half a second and spits out the cord again. I can only get it to do this I can't get it to suck the cord down for some reason. I have the teeth facing the correct direction, not sure what the problem is.
