The animals cover of "the house of the rising sun" in 1964, remains my favorite cover of the song. No one knows who wrote the original lyrics but its been traced to predate ww1. There are theories that surround the meaning of the song but no one knows for sure. However, we do know that "the house of the rising sun" is a timeless classic that I'll be sure to sing to the future generations for as long as i live

I know how hard it is to lose someone you love dearly, I lost 3 pets, and my great grandparents at a young age, and I'm very sorry for your loss. Rest in peace, and fly high.
Been part of this scene. Brother, Sister, let me tell you. Makes you feel more alive than any drug. More alive than the cosmos can bring. Brother, Sister there is a house there. They call it The Rising Sun. Don't go.
I'm pulled out of this song every time you slam SUPERGOOTIE in my face. Made it to 1:46 and bailed. Once at the beginning and once at the end would be more than adequate.
Some people wonder what the house of the rising sun is. Some theorize that it's different depending on who is the one singing the song (the song's been around forever, and a lot of people have made covers of it), but most agree it represents some sort of vice. I say that it's meaning depends on who's listening to the song. Everyone has a sin that they struggle to leave, everyone has their own house of the rising sun that they find themselves going back to even when they know it's wrong. Just know that there is hope. Some day you will leave the house of the rising sun, and never turn back.
Yes it's a proverbial house of sin and debauchery. A place were each of us either has gone to or been tempted to. This song is incredible in how the music captivates you to listen, but the lyrics ring true in all of us to some extent. The last verse sums it up well that even though we know the sinful vices are wrong it's so easy to fall into it all, taking that train and to the destination where we each may put on that ball and chain..... Very thought provoking.🤔
The crazy thing is this isn't the first version of it. This is actually a rip off of a couple other versions, one including Bob Dylan. Check it out. th-cam.com/video/RP_caKDfoyU/w-d-xo.html
Man this song reminds me when I was a teen. Basically I was with these guys that would pay me if I cleaned their cars but little did I know they were part of a gang. They said I was in the gang but I just never tell anyone. And I was surprised to see some of my friends in there too. Then there were some drive by car. One of my friends that we used to call “chucho” which means dog in Spanish got shot and died. And when the time came i told my family about what I’ve done and I told my brothers and sister not to do what I’ve done. I basically did all that stuff to help my family with the money. And not the clean the cars part but I felt like they were family to me.

In The Dalles, OR, where I've lived for nearly 5 years & 10 months, there is a house in my neighborhood that was built way back in 1880! The owner tried selling it 4 years ago but, he insisted on selling it on an "as is" basis. He refused to do any refurbishing, even though it was so very badly needed. The real estate company refused to keep it on the market, (So, about 5 months ago, the owner finally began fixing it up.)
