Or soft light which makes things transparent like if the opacity is reduced but cleaner! For example i made a completely black layer over an oc but if i add soft light it will just make the color transparent and show whats underneath the color

I recommend also using cool colors instead of black and warm colors instead of white for shading too

Me:Just get another layer press add select the hair color then shade and smudge done
Me personally I take the color I used the I would make it darker and the lower the opacity erase the acsess and done
You dont have to make the opacity to half
Just use blending mode "multiply"
