Look in the box of that 605 and you should find a set of rubber grips.

I had one for several years and it shot great, the trigger really smoothed-out as my round count went up. I eventually sold it and bought a 4" Smith model 69 to replace it, but I still regret getting rid of the Taurus. For the price, you can't beat them and I didn't feel bad about knocking it around in the woods.

I've been buying Taurus since 1980. All were well made & capable of handling hot loads.

I bought the .357 Tracker a year ago. Wished I could say it’s an inferior gun but it’s not. It’s my go-to mountain gun. No issues whatsoever.
    Great video. 🥾🏔️

Taurus has a wheel gun in 327 Fed Mag with a 3" bbl that I am interested in getting ...

Get a 454 casull , you can shoot 45 colt and 45 colt +p (which is close to 44 mag ) also. One gun and 4 different caliber loadings

      you mean 460 s&w which y'all keep forgetting😮.

    • @andywilson8698

Yes 460 can shoot all 5 ,but there seems to be more 454 pistols out there and better prices .

This was my very first firearm I bought in 2008... I carried it on a solo nine day 70 mile thru hike in August 2016... on a trail that maintains an elevation of 10,500 -12,000... it brought much reassurance by day and comfort by night.... I carried it with four rounds of Buffalo Bore 305 grain ammo....I left one chamber empty and an extra margin of safety..
but yeah they barley fit in the chamber... lol... When I bought that box of ammo back in the day Buffalo Bore had a disclaimer on it saying only several models of firearms like Super Redhawk were capable of shooting it.... Needless to say my Taurus Tracker was not on the list... lol... I've probably shot 10 of those rounds thru it in all these years... I've checked and inspected the frame everytime after too... 😆

There's extremely hot ammo that is rated " Ruger Only". Similarly when I go hiking out west, I'll bring my Ruger GP100 in .357mag or a SP101 with those very hot bear rounds. I have a Taurus 605 in stainless, but the wooden grips on yours looks great.

Don't leave a chamber empty with double action revolvers. You didn't gain any margin of safety, you just gave yourself one less chance. This gun like most newer revolvers has transfer bar safety that makes it literally impossible to fire without the trigger being pulled as the hammer cannot contact the firing pin.

    I picked ip the M 44 in 8 3/8 barrel last year..
    Hand Cannon.
    Yes you are correct.
All of them are not the legnth they say because of the porting..
I stippled the grip because i couldnt fond a better grip that wrapped like the original...
I think the Red Taurus handle from the raging model will fit.
Im going to call Taurus to find out and order 1.
Its definitly a wider thicker grip..

Porting sure helps to lessen recoil but you do feel a little more blowback from the muzzleblast. Its really tame using even hot 44 Special loads. The 627 ported in 357 is a joy at the range but 38s arent much cheaper than 357 ammo. 44 Special or Russian can be a little cheaper & still fun. Better grips than the old Ribber for sure but need to be a little longer for Xlge hands. Merry Christmas. 👍🙏🇺🇲

I have this exact same revolver and love it. Do yourself a favor and replace the grips with Hogue monogrips. They are much more comfortable to shoot IMHO. The ports really do work to mitigate recoil though. My favorite load is a mid-power 240 cast lswc bullet load with Alliant Power Pistol - should be clocking around 1100 fps from my Tracker.

I must be one of rthe few who actually likes the old Ribber-style grips -- not just the feel of them but the look as well. I got grips like these on my 692 and was disappointed until I found the Ribbers on the website, still available. Bought extras, just in case I pick up a Tracker 44 as well...

I alway thought they performed fine, just hated the way they looked. I think having these finger grooves is a little easier to hold on to though...

I preferred them as well. I most be the only one that does not like Hogue revolver grips, they just don’t fit my hand.

I think you're gonna like it. I bought 1 just like yours for my wife about 6 years ago and it's been a great pistol. I shot a few 44 Mag loads through it and while it is designed to shoot it I MO its a bit lightly built to shoot thousands of full power 44 mag loads. I load hers with hot 44 Specials which are 255 grain hard cast at 1000 fps and this load is plenty for bear defense and controlable for her. Nonit isnt as nice as my S&W 629 but it is Very Nice and accurate for the price and has held up very well. The trigger will wear in especially in double action to be more smooth and lighter too. Hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas and happy new year

@Soli_Deo_Gloria_. The lighter 44 Specials are really low recoil so the 44 Russians must be light and fun to shoot too

BB. Good video and great shooting. I have the 8.5" (7.5") actual version of that gun. Very heavy gun easy to shoot. Ammo Inc 240 Gr 5-rounds 1326 fps and 1690 fps out of 22" CVA Scout. I'm not a great shot but it is a fun gun to shoot. I started reloading just for that gun when it was next to impossible to find .44 Mag ammo in my area a couple years ago. I actually ended up finding some .44 Special ammo and bought it just to have something to shoot and still have a couple boxes of it. Looking forward to seeing that gun in some of your future video. Thanks for sharing and take care. Merry Christmas.

Great review. Iv looked at same model in 357mag hard find 44mag here in sw Pennsylvania they sell quickly. I been really sure what loads say ruger safe loads not load them into it. Hot 44spl handloads should be fine but hot 300 gr Buffalo boar i think is a no go ? Love see a 327mag or 45colt version that not 410 or a 41mag .

Nice addition to channel, love 44mg. If possible please with 45colt addition get a revolver that also capable to handle Ruger only tier 2. Changes the whole 45colt play book. Last Birchwood Casey Lead Remover wipes cleans my M44-6.5 SS and my M66-4 SS. Thanks for upload

I have the .357 Mag version of this; the 627 Tracker. It's been very reliable... And I also have the 2.5" snub nose "Talo edition" of this .44 Mag. They're better with the aftermarket Hogue grips... The .44 Mag versions are light though; best as .44 Specials for continuous range practice.
*Edit. Wow, that's surprisingly controllable compared to my snub nose .44 Mag version!... It must be the extra weight in it's barrel - and it's porting.

I think ports and comps/brakes make a larger difference the more powerful it is. I shot a buddies .450 Bushmaster with a brake and it was about half the recoil of mine without one...

    • @BuckeyeBallistics
      @BuckeyeBallistics  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

Depends on what you want it for (intended use), what size you're looking for, how big your hands are, how high or low your grip strength is, and how much you want to spend. But in general, other than a rimfire for super low recoil, a .38 special is a good starter revolver. I can give more specific picks once you answer all of the above questions...

For a new gun it has a pretty heavy cylinder drag mark already. Possible timing issue.

    • @BuckeyeBallistics
      @BuckeyeBallistics  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

I played with it a lot before using it lol. Also at half the cost of a Smith, I doubt the metal is as strong. I checked the timing before even firing it, and I don't think it would shoot 130 yards accurately like it did in the video if the timing was off. Also the barrel looks clean after the range trip. So as far as I can tell it's fine...

my Taurus tracker 44mag for regular carry I reload 180gr xtp, Longshot powder 13.5gr cronygraphed 1322 to1352 fp. 674ft/lb. Hunting 240gr xtp Longshot 11.5gr 1125fps.,674ft.ft/lb energy power. Kentucky range time loaded 180gr xtp, accurate no.9 ,21gr 1525 fps 935 ft/lb energy out of his tracker 44mag .in his gel blocks expansion was.0.772, penetration 17.20 inchs. papa wishing you well 😊

@BuckeyeBallistics looking in my old serria reloading manual the 180gr xtp at 1300fps 675 ftlb sight 25yds at 100yd 7.35inch low. 240gr jhc or xtp 1200fps, 767ft/lb energy sighted at 25 yds 8.12 inches low 100yd. these are not beasty loads. I checked my reload data for my Taurus tracker 44mag and I have reloaded 180gr xtp longshot powder 14.8gr 1450 fps 825 to 874ft/lb energy power. my loads shoot good at 50yds if I do my part.i can testify to the destruction on the vital area of our nc deer, having no dought what it would do as a self defense load with serria jhc and the xtp bullets. papa wishing you well and a merry Christmas 🎅

Watch your gauge right after the click and the trigger resets to the double action position it’s kicking the gauge arm out next time stop the hammer from going all the way home after the break for a true reading
