Watchtower wants to clear out their older members who remember all the bullshit predictions that failed over the years.

😳😦😮🤢
I think you need to go back and reread all those so-called predictions and get the true story instead of listening to all the biased stories.
Finally, a logical answer. Yours is the only explanation that makes sense. What other reason could there possibly be?

This is so disturbing. I live in a small rural community. I live about 8 miles from the local Kingdom Hall. A year ago my son collapsed. It took an hour for an ambulance to arrive. An AED would possibly have change the outcome..All we had was basic CPR. My son passed away as the paramedics arrived.
So in these rural areas several towns are served by one ambulance company and can be miles away.
Whatever their reasoning for this, it is a irresponsible choice and shows their lack of concern for human life.
That is heart breaking, You have my deepest sympathy.
I am so sorry to hear that. How tragic and heartbreaking. ❤🌹
My heart is breaking for you and your family. 😢 There's healing for you all, I know there is.
@@rebeccacisco9420 omg 💔 dear, I'm so sorry for You and Your son 💔
Sorry for your loss.
I doubt the headquarters will be getting rid of their defibrillators...
Yeah there's probably one right near the GB meeting room in realization that there are men in the 70's and obese, instilled by the GB men themselves.
Better get rid of those first aide kits, too. Too much liability if you use the wrong type of band-aid………
Well said!
Ha ha!!!
Don't want to invest in AEDs but because of liability, but wont hesitate to put untrained individuals on construction sites.
THIS
There's a particularly evil aspect to the elders letter. It says if a KH already has a defibrillator they are to 'dispose of it' Not donate it to the community or some other organisation that would benefit, actually make it so that no-one else can use it. I can't understand that mindset.
RIGHT!!! EVIL AZZHATS
Admittedly commenting before the video finishes so if you address this, I'm sorry!
I'm a nurse, but as a layperson I was able to obtain my CPR certificate. It's available to anyone. Operating an AED, which is included in CPR training (was the case in my area!), is covered by the Good Samaritan Law, at least in my area.
Hands Only CPR is most effective ONLY when started almost immediately once the person is down. The AED literally is designed to be operated by laypeople and healthcare professionals alike.
I'm truly gobsmacked. Not much can surprise me anymore these past few months after leaving, but this one made me irrationally angry!
No, not irrational. You’re a decent human being with your spiritual and human values in tact and responding accordingly
*"as a layperson I was able to obtain my CPR certificate. It's available to anyone."*
Watchtower reasoning: 'Yeah, but time spent getting CPR and AED certified is time stolen from Watchtower and "Kingdom interests". Jehovah will resurrect the person. Don't worry about it.'
I was at a restaurant many years ago and young lady in a table behind me, started to chocking on her food. Her mom was freaking out and the manager came to the table and had someone call 911. He said because of liability they couldn't touch her and help. I got up and helper the clocking lady up and proceeded to give her the heimlich technique. Took 3 tries but it unlouched unlodged the food.
It wasn't hard to do just remembered a video i watched in middle school, no training.
But it was sad that the business was afraid to take physical action, afraid of lawsuit.
My husband who was an elder at the time, was having a major heart attack in the hall, he told another elder that he thought he was going to pass out. I didn't know he was not feeling well until that moment. I was in total panic mode and told the elder he needs to get to the hospital. The elder offered NO HELP WHAT SO EVER!
I grabbed my purse and the elder said do you think you can drive him, there was absolutely no offer to drive him from the elder, no offer at all to call an ambulance, in fact I got the strong vibe that the last thing they wanted was an ambulance to come to the hall as it might cause a scene.
As soon as I got him to the hospital they instantly had him hooked up to monitors. About a half an hour later, after the elder had locked up the hall, etc of course that was the most important thing to make sure the hall was safe the elder just walked into the ER and came back. I was just in shock. After the elder was there for about 5 minutes the hospital thought they had my husband stable and were waiting to take him to surgery to put stents in him so it was just myself and the elder there my husband went unconscious and flatlined.
The elder saw it before I did and alerted the nurses to it. The instantly brought in the crash cart and rushed him to surgery.
The stinking, idiot stupid elder bragged for years that he saved my husband's life. 😬
If my husband had flat lined with me driving him alone to the hospital he would be dead.
Not one another elder called or came or checked in with me to see how I was doing. I got nothing.
On a lighter note an elder broke his ankle playing basketball with a group of brothers they all rushed him to the hospital and waited with his wife, as the wife told me there were so many of the "friends" there to support her the hospital had to ask some of them to leave as they were talking over the waiting room. This elders wife said she just knew it was the truth with such love that was given to her. Her husband had just broken his stupid ankle😞 not a major heart attack.
To me it just showed that this cannot be the "truth" because of the lack of love.
If a patient flatlines an alarm goes off. The nurses probably knew about it . He probably didn’t earn bragging rights
That is so true I guess I never thought about that. I was just standing there in shock thinking this is not happening. The nurse had just left telling me that he was going up to surgery in a few minutes, they were literally feet away when the elder saw that he flat lined and called them back. He bragged for years about shaving my husband's life. Then I woke up and realized he could have very well caused my husband's life by letting me drive him alone to the hospital.
When I told this @@##@ Elder that he shut up.
The next morning after his heart attack I stupidly thought someone would call and ask me how I was doing. Not one person called. I finally called that elder because at the time I was still a very true believer. I will never forget how hurtful that elder was. He first asked why I was calling? He reminded me that he had come up to the hospital, didn't I remember? Then he asked if I had anything to add to what had happened and if not he was busy and didn't have time to talk to me.
I will never forget how devastatingly alone I felt that day.
I feel for your pain and trauma and would not tolerate such a thing myself but please do not blame the JW organization for one incompetent man. Just because a member is an elder does not mean he deserves to be one. Look at the Israelites older men as an example. Most of them were corrupt and many were involved in BAAL worship. The true God eventually dealt with these corrupt older men and their followers after Jeremiahs 40 years warning them to repent. Follow Jesus Christ and consider the JW organization as a whole.
The reason I woke up was because I found out the whole elder body was corrupt. There were 3 pedophiles in the hall and the whole body was not only allowing the pedophiles around children but openly encouraging them to take care of the children during the meetings so the parents could listen.
I have been told over and over and over that it's just a few bad apples, to look like you said at Israelites. No it's not a few bad apples it a corrupt organization.
Ron I have heard that argument all my life, look at the Israelites Jehovah allowed corruption then, so you might as well suck it up now and allow corruption today because Jehovah allowed that to happen for 40 years or whatever..
Where does the God of love come in then. He sits there and watches people be destroyed by pedophiles that's what woke me up we had three of them in the congregation. The mistreatment by this elder didn't wake me up, no I listened to the insane advice of look Jehovah has always allowed bad things to happen you just need to be patient and wait for him to fix things. it was the pedophiles that the elders were allowing to hold and take care of children during the meeting that woke me up, I realized Jehovah was never in this religion, I was just stupid to allow myself to be abused by it.
@exjehovahswitness According to my roomate who is a law student...The WT opens themselves up to more liability because if a person dies from a cardiac event and it was shown that the AED's were removed...Holy crap heads will roll.
That’s true! Good point!
@@CdnPIMO good point, its time this cult was taken down
That's what I commented! Was my first thought while watching this! Great minds...
Watchtower managed to completely misinterpret and misapply the biblical Good Samaritan parable.
It only makes sense that they'd misunderstand Good Samaritan laws.
How do JWs completely misinterpret the parable about the good Samaritan? I do not believe the parable is about a good neighbor law. Jesus was showing that a good neighbor mercifully helps people regardless of that person’s nationality or background. The law illustrated here is love. The Jews hated Samaritans yet in this illustration the Samaritan offered his loving kindness even to a known enemy. JWs offer a lifesaving message to all people regardless of their nationality, race or background. JWs spend their own time and resources on disaster relief around the world. While JWs help anyone in need within their ability [ physically, mentally and financially ] JWs do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers, they do not become friends with the world, and they stay away from bad associations and from apostate thinking Ex-JW troublemakers. True Christians dedicate themselves to the true God like the ancient Israelites but under a different set of rules. Rules the true God expects his people to follow. When Christians defile themselves by loving the world and the things in the world, they become spiritual adulteresses and an enemy of the true God.
@@ronhansen8471
*"How do JWs completely misinterpret the parable about the good Samaritan?"*
To answer this question, Ron, would require three things of you:
1) read your Bible.
2) actually read WT literature objectively.
3) attempt just a little to have an open mind, think critically, and look at things without wearing your JW goggles.
I'd be more than happy to explain to you exactly how WT misinterprets the parable of the Good Samaritan in several ways, but based on past experience with you, it'll fall on deaf ears and any reply you give to my explanation will be a scripted, rote, canned WT answer that required precisely zero thought to formulate, much like your comment above. Nice sermon, by the way, which is completely off-topic.
@@ronhansen8471
*"and they stay away from bad associations and from apostate thinking Ex-JW troublemakers."*
No they don't. This is a hilarious claim, coming from a JW who's made a career out of trolling exJW channels while regularly engaging in debates with "bad associations" and "apostate thinking" exJWs, something your WT leaders have told JWs like you to NEVER do, yet here you are doing it all while claiming you don't do it.
Are you the kettle or the pot, Ron?
@@ronhansen8471
*"When Christians defile themselves by loving the world and the things in the world, they become spiritual adulteresses and an enemy of the true God."*
This is an interesting statement, considering it has just been exposed that your Watchtower has created three new big asset management firms in Ireland, created for the sole purpose of managing Watchtower's $billions in assets.
Why are you condemning "loving the world", Ron, when your Watchtower is up to their neck in this world's affairs and making big profits from it?
With you JWs, every accusation is a confession. It's hilarious to read how you condemn everyone else while being completely oblivious to the fact that YOU are doing the very thing you're condemning.
I was a combat medic in the Army. I have been deployed to places that have never had running water and electricity. We still had an AED in our supplies. They are too easy to use. They tell you what to do. This is asinine
The maintenance typically involves changing the batteries. Chances are, if a Kingdom Hall has an AED, a member donated it, and is also upkeeping it.
All sorts of public places have AED's, the local library, the grocery store I use...AED's are ubiquitous.
One time a man had a seizure up front in the hall. My dad who was not a witness and I got up to help him. The brother giving a talk, kept talking. When I was leaving the hall, I was told by an elder. “He is just stressed because he has been sinning against Jehovah.” I was initially shocked but since I spent my entire life being in trouble by elders, I just chalked it up to typical “no empathy” responses.
I’ll never forget the time at a meeting when they were asking for everyone’s approval with raising of hands on a specific amount of donations and this brother who is not regular at all questioned where the money was going and I don’t remember it being a clear answer, but I’ll never forget that someone actually challengedthe donation amount that Hall had been paid for already. At this time I was full on PMI, but that did put a thought in my head and I was proud of that person for saying something.😂
When I was a Ministerial Servant and Accounts Servant, I was instructed by the Elder I took over for to NEVER ask, when reading the accounts report from stage, if anyone had any questions. The reason for this is that there was a Ministerial Servant who would always challenge suspicious expenditures, and would grind away until he got an answer.
The message was clear: the rank-and-file have no right to question how their money is being spent. Shut up and pay!
very interesting how the watchtower renounces the aed, but they have committees that "collaborate" with the doctors regarding blood transfusion. .
Boom. Mic drop.
If they're really concerned about the legal aspects then it would also make sense to think that someone would Sue for not having that device in a public building.
Lol. I'm a nurse. An AED is foolproof. They just don't want to pay for them. 🙃
And this is an organisation that is now said ( with good authority) that they have billions of £,s to invest.... Disgusting to hear...
*"An AED is foolproof"*

My local hall is rural has 70ish publishers and the active members are all getting older. So with a majority of elderly members an AED would be a good investment. Removing them is just crazy
AEDs are such a great tool because they are so easy a child could save your life being properly trained with one. The fact they wont install any in a hall is just spelling out the org wanting to get out of paying maintenance and purchasing new ones including training opportunities. They are a Billion dollar empire and want to stay that way.. so why would they put their sheep first…
In the UK, these defibrillators are located in our towns. We have one in our local precinct.
And guess what, no training for anyone needed for the reason you state, it’s foolproof! Anyone can use one!
And the Society is worth millions! They can definitely afford it.
My town has a couple, too. It's baffling JW care so little about life
I do Park Run every Saturday which is a free 5k event held in a lot of parks in the U.K. (and many other countries). Here in the U.K. awe are not allowed to hold the event if there isn’t a working AED. About six months ago at my park run it was used to keep someone alive till the air ambulance could evacuate him to hospital.
They need to practice modern day human sacrificing so this along with many of their policies is just a way for them to make these sacrifices while not answering to any laws.
Of course the WT doesn’t want defibrillators in the KHs. They’re not needed. When you have such an abundance of JWs who went to college to became doctors, surgeons, nurses, and paramedics in every KH, the defibrillators end up being a waste of money that could be better spent instead on nice suits and watches and jet setting trips around the globe for the GB.
Shut this cult down!!!!!
We would need them to change the laws. They are deeply involved in making law and policy for most of the world. Why do u think nothing truly gets done about them, no matter how many crimes they commit. Them arresting a few molesters from that org aint gonna do squat to the org until we can get their lobbyists to not get things done in THEIR FAVOR. As long as they have lobbyists, money and other powerful people pulling the strings, the cult will continue. And for those that truly believe in god they should pray for the cult to go away. I myself am not so sure about the subject but I hear he is good and can do anything, so if that were true in my view if people prayed for it hed get rid of this evil cult. It just seems they will continue to commit their crimes unscathed for decades to come.
"We view life as sacred." But not quite sacred enough.
I was a paramedic for a large metropolitan city for 34 years. This is definitely a lawyer , who has NO CLUE, of these machines. They are made for JQ Citizen that has no idea. Iv'e seen these AED's save MANY people. They are idiot proof. I worked one year at a convention in first aid and I was informed that there was to be no CPR performed due to lawsuits. I was already on my way out of the organization. I told them that I was going to do my job if someone was in full arrest. Needless to say I stopped working first aid. They keep shooting themselves in the foot and yet are very arrogant about what they think they know.
I remember that too about the first aid dept at conventions. Many years ago, while still in the cult, I volunteered to help the first aid dept since I was CPR certified. Needless to say, my services were declined and I ended up cleaning bathrooms. 🙄
I am a paramedic and emergency manager. After being raised in watchtower, and spending 49 years as a corporate slave for watchtower. 13 years as an elder. I was excommunicated 11 years ago. After excommunication, I was able to serve the public in law enforcement, a paramedic, a firefighter, and now emergency management. I was part of many teams that have saved over 24 core zeros (cardiac arrests). Using AED's or crash carts. I am so greatful I am out of this cult. Knowing I was part of teams that made a difference makes me proud. Lastly, I am now retired and am working as an emergency manager for a large hospital system. Even though I was exploited emotionally, mentally, financially, and even spiritually. I refuse to be a victim. So the watchtower did not screw me over. Left 11 years ago. They have no hold on me. WT has to make the AED look like a mop or a window squeegee, then JWs will know exacty what to do...
An aed is very easy to use, actually its harder not to use if it says do not use. Contrary to popular belief AED will not start your heart. They are to straighten out a fribulation of the heart. And start a regular beat. If your heart stops the aed will not start it, chest compression is the best way to go. If you get a beat back the aed will not be needed, unless you begin to fribulate than it will tell you to shock to straighten out the beat. (Thats why you leave it connected until paramedic arrival. I am very familiar with the good Samaritan law, whats wrong with WT.
I have used a training AED several times, it doesn't need any special training. We're a bunch of kids using those just about perfect the first time. Only time it could get more complicated would be someone with a very hairy chest and you have to shave it first before you can glue the pads on because there's too much hair for the pads to make contact with the skin. And even then there's usually a shaver in there.
Just come on Watchtower, do you have too many members and want to get down to the 144,000? AEDs are literally made for everyone to be able to use them, that's why they're hanging everywhere around the globe
it is sad to hear of this change, pal in the health industry is at a REMOTE KH, it would be a good idea, as it is not the big city where EMT's are there quick. I hear ya. Maybe they want the grand's house? And that blood policy needs to go away, it is between your doctor, med team and YOU. These men have not taken even HS biology, but you know that. Best to you!
Yeah, AEDs are designed to walk even someone without training through the process (though that’s obviously not ideal).

I’m PIMO, and I’m DISGUSTED by the lack of empathy and care, but sadly, not surprised. Especially with the number of older ones in these halls, it should be mandatory, and not a second thought given. I hope America has stringent laws that can get them for this. This is abhorrent. (Concerned Aussie).
(Back)So I will mention the elephant in the room that no one else has: the wills of the potential dying may be made out to WT. It's actually income.
Chills, I'd not twigged on that. It makes sense though. DISGUSTING!! A way to speed the elderly on their way and get all the promised assets. I absolutely hate this abhorrent organisation.
I was thinking the same thing 🤔
The GB probably got wind of the "woman sues man for touching her when he saved her from drowning" satire video and figured it was true, so they said, "Hey, we're buried under enough lawsuits as it is, we don't need any more, just in case a less-than-stellar Witness sues the organization after being saved from a heart attack." Gotta save up that money for the next CSA case, you know.
Quite ironic, coming from an organization where touching kids is practically a national sport.
I bet the old farts at their headquarters have them.
Jehover doesn't like a machine giving directions.
😂
I'm sure They have one in Bethel !
They don't want the associated costs in start up and maintaining that service. It's always about money.
The nine crooks in America should be in prison
They must really need the properties and finances being willed to them faster. Need to keep that asset management team busy with new assets being onboarded.
I recently took a cpr class and the instructor shared that women were 14% less likely to receive bystander CPR and defibrillation than men, at the KH, it would be much higher! 24:40
Basic First Aid....this device is foolproof. Wow! Yet I should not be surprised. I was at a meeting years ago where the elder dropped dead in the middle of his discourse. Once the ambulance took him away. The meeting continued...jumped into the Watchtower study.
I hope somebody challenges them in court about this one
The organization is straight Drago mode …”if he dies, he dies”
I bet they still keeping them in Bethel tho!
This is a case of a multi-billion-dollar corporation prioritizing a relatively small sum of money over lives. If each hall is allowed to keep its own funds, there would be no issue. WT greedily confiscate all hall funds, therefore sees the problem as a sole WT HQ cost. Additionally, they do not want to resuscitate disfellowshipped/so-called apostate individuals.
Why pay 25¢ per person when the money could be sent to Watchtower?
They’d rather make those dumb videos than possibly save a life.
Love you Wally -

Im pretty sure it is related to lawsuits revolving around faulty AEDs. Recently, there have been lawsuits involving AEDs that did not function properly due to a lack of regular maintenance. In these cases, families of victims who relied on the AEDs during emergencies are now suing the institutions responsible for the devices. These lawsuits claim that the institutions failed to properly maintain the AED equipment, leading to tragic outcomes when the devices malfunctioned at critical moments.
So WT is putting their own interests first instead of protecting their followers by keeping and maintaining these life saving devices in Kingdom Halls.
CPR Instructor and Personal AED Owner.
AED maintenance consists of buying replacement pads and batteries every 2 years. Shorter if the use of the AED is high. These may costs 800$ or less. The AEDs themselves may be around 2,000 with a recent market increase but some companies also have a leasing option.
Now multiply that across thousands of KH's....the money starts to really add up. It's gotta be about the money because of the good samaritan laws in all 50 states plus Canada....

And the issue escalated past the LDC, and I was told that basically the response from the branch was that they view the AED just the same as they do heavy equipment on the Kingdom Hall premises. Their internal policy is that if the Kingdom Hall has a piece of heavy equipment, or an AED in this case, there needs to be licensed personnel to use that device whenever the Kingdom Hall is occupied. No one suggested to me that it was a financial reason for rejecting a AED install.
So according to their own policy, not sure if this is based legally anywhere, The only way they would allow an AED to be installed in a building is if there is a BLS certified brother there at all times. I would imagine that there are a number of Kingdom Halls where people have just installed the AED without consulting the LDC / branch first; and this letter is a catch-all for congregations that don't obsessively run everything by the LDC like we do.
I'm guessing that since they realistically can't guarantee their own rule is being followed they've resorted to banning AEDs. So that way they don't have to worry about if a qualified and trained brother is there every time the Kingdom Hall is occupied.
And in terms of if it's a legal requirement or not, that almost kind of doesn't matter. Because as we all know, they will hold a rule that they made up themselves, much higher than they will legal or moral precedent. So the fact that someone somewhere in leadership in the organization once said that it "could" be a liability issue ... Means It is now a liability issue that needs to be avoided.
IIRC there's some nice videos on YT on AEDs and the automatic versions. In Europe it seems they are all the automatic versions now. Like 99.9999% safe and nearly always charity funded and "good Samaritan" legally defended.
Jumping Jephosaphats! I had to read that twice to make I was believing my eyes! Geez man! Are these people for real?!
So what’s the problem. Reserection right ?
Are you really shocked by this? This is Watch Tower we're talking about!
Exactly. It's only going to get worse.
As someone who had their First Aid training renewal around a year ago, AED training included. It's boggles the mind that an organization like Watchtower can justify not keeping what is pretty much an essential tool these days in their halls. To me that doesn't just scream cheap or "caring" about liability. It also shows that they don't really care what could happen to someone if they have a heart attack. Given that they don't even want their members to receive life saving blood transfustions, I think it says a lot about the leadership & their priorities.
To me, as have been in the organization, six decades as a born in fully indoctrinated person that was required to go to Bible studies, pretty much daily because of the pioneers my parents were close to. I knew the ends and out of the organization when I was a child. This behavior screams sacrifice to their God who requires it. I’ve seen too much. I know too much, but revealing things now is only going to happen through someone else’s videos by comments because I really can’t do a TH-cam channel because I don’t have or want enough information to keep a channel going. But I wholeheartedly support and admire all of those exposing watchtower for what it is. Much love to anyone who reads this comment and congratulations on waking up and being wise and don’t stop searching for answers because when you find out the real answers, it becomes a phenomenal part of life and you realize how valuable and important you really are.
@@dogsdroolllquinavancepasre6756 Glad you were able to get out. Take care of yourself. We will win this war against Watchtower 1 day. With all the backlash they've been seeing in places like Norway. They're not as powerful of a force as in their prime. They can't keep covering up their many crimes forever.
Sorry if this came off as a bit of a rant, but I'm always here to support people who get out of cults like JW. Personally, Whatever path you choose now, hope you will be happy & don't look back with regret.
Great comment! I’d love to hear more. Maybe you can get together with Wally. I’m out of WT and trying to write a manuscript. That’s my way of finally dealing with it. I hope you will tell your experiences. ❤
Sacrificing to the Prince of Darkness..
Matthew 7:15-20
To paraphrase a well-used expression:
If it walks like a -cult- 🦆, and quacks like a -cult- 🦆...
They have become the elites.
This cult is way out of control and it's so silly basic first aid is so easy and basic cpr is easy for all ages for the watchtower to control someone is so stupid 😂😂😂
Some congregations were probably doing the right thing and buying one but the organisation doesn’t want to pay out for all congregations to have one.
There was something discussed on a forum a while ago about new instructions issued for assemblies and dealing with first aid. It meant immediate help would not be given due to their red tape.
*"It meant immediate help would not be given due to their red tape."*
Elders take the same approach when a rank-and-file JW needs personal help and encouragement, so why should first aid be treated any different?
They definitely need it because there is only older people now, not very many young ones
So who is going to sue them for liability? The person who died? (Of course not) That's person's family? The friends in the hall? They aren't allowed to!! 😅😅😅
Sounds like if someone dropped from a cardiac arrest, they’d go on sitting and answering WT magazine questions. They probably figure: “Well, we’ll see him in paradise.” Very tragic really.
@christinesotelo7655 And what's REALLY sad is that once this happens at a KH and some overbearing elders wife says "you know I think we should get one of those things for hall" and voices it, she will likely never know that the elders were instructed to discard it. But her elder husband will know and feel guilt over the person who died and he will likely internalize and start drinking to cope then it will get out and he will be removed.
I know that's a lot of "what ifs" but I've seen similar things happen. Even in my own family. It could very well happen.
@christinesotelo7655 when I was a child, an elderly woman collapsed in the aisle of the main auditorium. A few brothers rushed over to investigate and I assume to get help, but everyone else stayed seated and the meeting continued! They eventually removed her. I don't know what happened to her after that or if she survived. 😢
@@bmonster Absolutely. Usually those Elder’s wives find those letters and forbidden instruction books and know them by heart. But they won’t squeal. Then as you say, the overworked, overburdened Elder goes out and drinks or “goes on a Bible Study” in the evening without the wife, to alleviate his conscience of not doing all he can do to save a life. (well, maybe my words added to yours here?). The Elders are more burdened now from what I understand, by GB passing the whole messy everything down on them so if anything happens, the Elders are held liable. GB is in enough trouble. If anyone sues, the Elders can be sued at least as accessories to the GB malicious rules.
I can’t really understand why men would volunteer for these positions which would put them in such liable positions. Wouldn’t they think that they should sign waivers of some sort to protect themselves from both GB and other Elder disciplines and Law liabilities?
I wonder if there are AEDs at Bethels around the world? I bet there ARE!
When the religion can’t allow people to give or receive blood if needed then the rules are more important than life. So it’s not surprising that this is the case.
Hey Wally! So, if a KH already has one of these devices & I am betting it was purchased by the members, you have to get rid of it ? What a loving "discreet slave" these Jw have, literally !! Nothing should stop you from thinking about anything but donating every single spare cent to the Org. Hope you're having a good day & stay safe.
My thoughts as well 😢
If they are trained in CPR then they are trained to use the AED. So they say that trained people can help and then take away the basic tools any trained person would know how to use. Yes it does cost to maintain them but it should be considered the bare minimum of services to provide their “friends.”
You’d think their lives would be valued after all of the years of free labor they’ve given to the Org!
They don’t care about saving lives…only their pockets!!! It’s a liability!
Is anyone shcked by this? They certainly never will be if all AED's are removed! 🤭🤣
I see what you did there.
You have to sacrifice lives when you are in a cult, nothing is new under the sun.
I am a certified CPR instructor and not allowing AEDs in kingdom halls is completely wrong, its a safety feature that not only should be in every business but also in every home. if there is anyone that is CPR certified is under the red cross umbrella and that is why you get done every 2 years. So this lack of use of this life saving equipment is a violation against saving a life. These people are becoming so twisted that not having one could put them in lawsuit territory.
They're worried about lawsuits and why they want to get rid of AED. Don't want to spend money for the upkeep of them.
Lawsuits. Lives are important but their money is more important because they are Jehovah's channel.
You've gone down some great rabbit holes that I never considered. My first thought was about control, so I agree with you there. It's always about control, even in inconsequential matters, which this isn't. I didn't even think of the Good Samaritan law. Keep up the good work.
People attempting to use an AED are protected by Good Samaritan laws. Whoever installs an AED bears potential negligence liability if they are negligent in their maintenance of it. I mean, if you install a drinking fountain and somebody drowns in it, the property owner can be liable. If someone trips on your floor and it’s due to negligence, property owner is liable. Improbable, but real. If a chair has a broken leg and someone gets hurt etc.
I’ll never forget buying a Beachball and when it got blown up, instructions in large print were on one of the colorful panels taking away from the color that fascinates kids. First warning: don’t swallow ball. We STILL laugh about that! People are THAT worried about everything?!? 😂
It's so weird, there are so many in the Congs who already have CPR certification for their jobs.. what a waste! I'm one of them, evil PIMO and all loll 😂
I'm surprised kh's are not required to have both AEDs AND a few trained personnel around, as sizeable community organizations... 🙄
You are so right Wally about both Good Samaritan protections and protection from being forced to do CPR when not comfortable. For example, the mouth to mouth breathing portion of CPR is not required, if the person applying civilian emergency aid feels unsafe. 🤦🏼♀️
I literally worked at the hospital and I maintained the AED in our department. You hit a button to run the maintenance on the machine. That's it! Maintenance cost $00000000 dollars to the tenth power.
They need some lawyers from the 21st century!!!
I've had personal dealings with Watchtower lawyers on legal issues. They are dumb as a stump. I prevailed, because I know the law (as a layperson), and they don't.
Could it be that they are worried that if outsiders know they have an AED they would burst into the Kingdom Hall in an emergency. Wouldn’t want the ungodly rushing in unexpectedly would they?
I used to sell AED devices. Good Samaritan laws were passed exactly for these reasons.
On a totally separate issue, no one has EVER accused JWs of correctly applying the parable of the Good Samaritan. JWs would be like the person in the parable crossing the road to avoid the injured traveler.
…on yet another unrelated topic, will they remove fire extinguishers because the don’t have trained certified firefighters? Extinguishers require annual maintenance also.
You make some very good points.
I can't help but think that this letter was sent out not because of possible liability, but rather it's best to have such a thing like this out of the way for when the ORG sells these Kingdom Halls.
It might be different in other states but usually a good Samaritan law just means that if somebody gets injured due to somebody stopping to render aid that they cannot be sued.
For instance, if I were to be giving someone CPR and I broke their ribs, they cannot sue me for breaking their ribs during that even if I was not CPR certified.
I don't think it's a law where you're required to help. In fact there have been cases where they upheld someone's right not to help.
You also don't have to be certified to do chest compressions. A 911 operator can even talk you through it.
I suspect that because most healthcare workers in congregations are female, that they feel like they would have to train the elders to do this because heaven forbid that a woman step up and take the lead in a crisis situation and start telling penis bearing men what to do. The shame!
In Germany you could be sued if you don't provide first aid. It's failure to render assistance. Watchtower was not undisputed 30 yrs ago when I left, but it is disgusting now. Only adding new scandals to the old ones.
Btw- some municipalities require places of worship to have at least one installed and working. Talking about disposing of them huh, liability huh.. Ha!!
Indeed! It seems to me that getting rid of the defibrillators would be where the liability comes into the picture.
Can’t they just drop it off at a hospital or nursing home?
Maybe they don’t want the perception that anybody else can save a life except them.
If they have the AED, they can be accused of failing to save someone. If they don't have it, they can't be accused of not using what they don't have. We'll see if their strategy pays off when someone dies that could have been saved.
Edit: also if you have some halls with one and other ones without one, but you happen to go into Vfib in a hall without one... Why wasn't there one in ALL kingdom halls if they should be in some halls? Watchtower would like to be able to say, "we're a religious institution, none of our kingdom halls are equipped with AEDs."
The Watchtower is simply avoiding legal exposure.
True!! Last I was aware, these machines are a marvel ! About as foolproof as it comes as it talks you thru ¡
Wally you are correct. Good Sam laws do protect bystanders who perform life saving acts according to their training(scope of practice). Also, modem AEDs are stupid simple. They've got pictures where to put the pads and do their own thinking as they read the EKG of the patient as to whether they should shock. Literally, anyone can use the AED. I'm more concerned if brother Knowsitall with his meaty hands smashing my chest cavity like Dwight Schrute thinking he's helping doing CPR when I'm just passed out cuz of doing whippets in the hall.
I thought right away.... 🤔💭..... 'so much for sanctity of life' What happened to them being so prepared and ready for emergencies with safety equipment!??.... nah, it's too much work, maintenance, and liability involved folks!! I think you're on to something about brothers actually having to "fondle " a sister!! Give me a freakin break!
