Potting up my Canna Rhizomes after winter storage to give them a head start

This is something I do every year, about 6 - 8 weeks before the last frost potting up my Canna Rhizomes, keeping them in the house, so they stay warm and by the time they go in the garden they are quite established.

Thanks for this. I've been doing this method for about 6 years. I live in Eastern Ontario, Canada - so for me, if I don't start them in mid-late March (plant out end of May / June) than the growing period often is not long enough before cooler temperatures and they won't hit flowering maturity.

Thank you and I thought we have a short season but Eastern Ontario, wow. I have always done it this way too, while I love the flowers I grow cannas more for the foliage, it gives me that tropical feeling, even when the weather is grey and dull. The aspect I am not so fond of is that all the pots are in the guest bedroom, it looks like a mini nursery 😂

I have them all in the guest bedroom, so nobody can stay in there until they go out 🙂
