I am an old goalie, 53, and I find your videos very helpful. I have never had a goalie coach and really like the way you "dumb" it down so everyone can understand. You have been a big help to me and I am sure, hundreds of other goalies of all ages. please keep the videos coming.

any reason why whenever i try to hold my stick the right way when puck handling i can’t seem to get a feel for the stick with my trapper

I love the pulling the puck off the wall drill. I will incorporate that into my drills. Keep up the great content.

Great video! I really like the focus on urgency and awareness when leaving the crease. The skates up ice is a good way to remember to check where the players are in the zone and how much time you have to make the play. Thanks for putting this one up.

Great tip on lever rotate rather than poking and stabbing at the shot. Deman will definitely like the rebound area rather than the bVk boards or glass rebound. Ty again 😊

Are there any situations where I should put my body up against the board because my coach is telling me to but I don’t think it’s right

I can never seem to get enough downward pressure to stop a hard rim shot, if I can get back there in time. Puck slides right under my stick if I try to cradle the puck. If I hold my stick square to the ice, and jam the toe into the boards, I stand a much better chance. Next problem is rimming it on the glass. 1/100 maybe. I can get it half way on the boards rather consistently and tape to tape 1/2 way through the neutral zone all day.
I remember watching the Lightening play years ago. Vassy goes behind the net to play it, and tries to rim it up the glass. Almost no stick movement and looks very effortless, but accidentally hits his defenseman in the face and takes him out of the game. How he got so much power on the puck to do that much damage with so little effort has baffled me ever since.

Any tips for goalies who shoot right but are a left handed catcher? Do I need to learn how to shoot with my left, or should I just change glove hands?

I was in the same situation and I decided to learn how to shoot lefty instead of trying to catch right. I think it was the right way to go and I would recommend.

Funny cause that's my 8yo son's exact situation and I didn't know what I should tell him. I ended up telling him to learn how to shoot left as it is easier to learn and is less used/critical than trapping pucks.

Same spot as you. I played triple a baseball so the glove on my left hand is a must but im actually a righty. Learning to play lefty

Same, as are a ton of regular goalies. I taught myself and trained hard for a long time shooting left with a goal stick and can now play left pretty much as well as right even with a player stick. I would be outside with a piece of practice ice, my goalie gloves and stick for hours just ripping pucks. Brodeur was a huge influence for me.

good video, should learn to not use the bottom palm, but shoot like Brouder or hextall does, not like turco...either both would be ideal, I see a lot of new goalies shoot like turco, but find I can shoot a puck 3/4 of the ice in the air the hextal way. Tahnks! Been in the pipes since 92.

I've seen coaches that don't recommend send the puck up on the glass because you can hit one of the bars and bounce towards the slot.

Immediately lost me when you said “one of the most important things as a goaltender”….. no…. It’s really not lol…. Unless you’re a total idiot playing the puck you can easily make it a long way by just stopping rims and shovelling it to a corner or leaving it (signed a guy who played at a pretty decent level just doing that and coaches now)…. It’s cool if you can get good at it and obviously helpful but “most important”?! Not even close
