THIS GAME USED TO BE FUN. ive put alot of work into making my base! saving oil, upgrading wepeons and so fourth, and to be rewarded this way in my favorite game is a big dissopiontment
12 years later and this is the first time i have seen this man without the iconic uniform and glasses i do wonder if he still works at kixeye all these years later
Kixeye, this is probably one of the best updates ever on any of your games. War Commander is now a combination of BYM and BP, and I think that's absolutely awesome. Great job guys, keep the updates coming :D
Hey guys, why not take a couple of days to explore the new features before jumping to conclusions. I know change can be a little scary but I assure you that once you figure out your new strategies that you're going to have a blast.
Absolutely great now Kixeye. Previously there were only 3 Rogue Factions to attack, now there are as many as you can handle. Also, loads of enemies if you want, AND the all important metal and oil deposits, which increases the rate at which you can acquire those resources. I am now up to a Level 6 Staging Area and that gives me another 11,100 unit space. Brilliant.
Suggestion #3-a One of the 2nd biggest features was not lost but upgraded and improved. It's the ability to select a single type of troops during attacks. That's been upgraded to "companies". For example, Alpha, Bravo, Delta, Charlie company. However, I think many don't understand this concept so more education may have to be given to this area.
you can still use aircraft, theres a sepperate tab for it next to the amrour, you dont have to move them next to ur base like the tanks cuz they can just fly there instantly
Suggestion #3-b: You have to upgrade your staging area to increase your company areas which inturn increases your platoon size and strength. It's all about the company size now. That way you can put more of the same units in one company and not have to mix up units so you can individually select only certain types of troops. Just more education needs to be directed to this crititcal area of the game I think.
Interesting - so with 6 platoons, you can now send in tons more units to attack a player than you could before. Hopefully there will be more defense buildings to help balance it in the coming months.
I hate how many people are saying "I'll quit, we want the old one back". The old one just sucked, more than half bases where destroyed 24/7 and some people were continuously attacking you. The new system is way better, more difficult and realistic. Good Job War Commander!
I have not noticed any player bases adjacent to the mountain tiles, which could be quite useful for defense and greatly alter base layout. as the game progresses it would be cool for clans to be able to do collective terrain alterations like trenches. and extend or abolish the attack timer.
I think the upgrades are great, Theirs so much more you can do verses the old way. i thank as soon as everyone learn the new world map & how to use it they will like it all so, whatever you do don't change a thing, i think you all really out done yourselves on this one, you took an average game and made it a great game.
taking a little getting used to, but I like the new format. not to say it couldn't use a tweak or 2. one I would like to see is in game clan system with flags on bases and such. another would be the ability to move your base to exactly where you want it on the map.
when you're in battle there's a tab right below you're infantry/vehicles that says "aircraft", click to bring it up and any aircraft that you have at your base will appear here. click the + beside the aircraft to send it into battle. you cannot use them while defending though.
Love it. Even if it is taking off of battle pirates and backyard monsters (both yours). It requires more skill and gives you a chance to defend yourself. the only problem is it should alow you to see your platoon and base being attacked and allow you to control the units during that... Thanks :)
Comments: Excellent game update. Adds to the fun. People always resist change but these changes are good for the overall gameplay. The attack log is unbelievable. The attack log is awesome!!!!!!!!!!! The company and platoon concept is whatever word better than AWESOME! (don't know a word better than awesome but what ever it is...that's the word to describe the new staging area and world map) GREAT JOB ON THAT TOO! I have suggestions/comments next.
I started playing the day before the changes took effect. I loved it! I must have played most of the day. The next day, after the changes, I was soooo confused. I hate that you can only attack with a certain number of troops and vehicles. As a new player I'm getting massacred even when I attack lower level opponents. I don't have lots of resources as it is and now I'm going through them like crazy just making more troops. I'll never have enough resources to upgrade stuff. I hate it!!!
Suggestion #1 The HEX placement of troops adds to the tactical gameplay greatly. However, why do we have to place our troops in the front of the HEX closest to the enemy. I know we get 5000 pts of capacity now...but give us a chance and may be allow our troops to be placed near the rear of the HEX...to avoid kill off so quickly.
Air crafts are automatically added u don't need to place an air craft into a platoon. You ever hear of air support, they don't fly right over your troops or something, they are right there at ur base awaiting signal to be deployed. didn't u see they are within the stageing area right on creation. Dang u didn't seen the Aircraft button on an enemy base on the left side on the list of plattoons? right benieth the names of each platton next to the base ur attacking, is ur aircraft button.

i've already adapted to this new feature. it's awesome. so other players are mad cause they don't know about it and had some rivals that they've been bullying.
I got to play new version last night for a few hours, liked it well enough. But all day, today, all I could do was build up my staging area. Every time I tried to access the world map, it always tells me; "Not connected to map server"! How do I fix this?
this game is super beast you guys need to start on making alliances in the game and idc for the chat to much you need to have it where you can send messages to other players. also you guys should totally have it where you can still be at your base controlling your own men while people are attacking you or your deposits
My suggestion:When an enemy platoon is a higher level than yours, they can't attack the platoon who is lower.I wasted 700k metal and oil just to make 6 platoons and it all got destroyed by an enemy platoon 9 level higher than mine. I don't think it is fair that they can use such stronger units vs my weak units.

From the responses on here its more or less a hate from people who have not (just my opinion and assuming) played BYM or BP. they contain similaraties in each one, and are created by similar means For example In BP the direction your fleet is attacking from is how your units start from and also the time to move BYM has the hexagons in the lvl 2 maproom and the Mines are a mix of both outposts in BYM and Mines in BP all in all i dont mid as i have gotten used to this design and still many play it
This was a good game for those of us with a little time to play a good game. Not now, I do not need to dominate the world. I just need to blow off a little steam after work.I liked the old version enough to spend some money while I played - hope it wasn't wasted. Change is not always for the better.
idk if i like this change or not. haven't tried it yet but the only thing i would say i dislike about this change is i can't find my rivals i had before
everytime i create a new platoon i need an option that allows me to send them automaticly to war zone like a "follow that 1st platoon button " -takes me ages to find the spot to deploy
I only had 19 outposts in BYM but they were taken over by Trevor in just a few hours. He has hundreds of outposts now, so I have to relocate. Way to go.... NOT.
would be nice if you can plan where your platoon lands when attacking another base. Mine were so close to their mortars the whole lot got destroyed before i could do anything. also maybe having a select all button for platoon. somehow they can be all deselected and that doesnt help when directing a whole force under attack

Ever heard the term it takes 9 positive comments to make up for one negative comments? Thought the update last night would return the old war commander. Guess no one listening to us. Lost another player. Removing app. It was fun to play w before.

kixeye, make sure every changes in this war commander not to sudden bro. when u make a sudden change, it's will make the player more confusing. next time, try to the get an opinion before making a changes. Do not follow your own desires, because we put your game continues to be the choices. And do not regret it if the game is almost forgotten by us as a result of direct impact of this sudden change.
Suggestion #2 There is a total loss of control of placement of air weapons. Guys, they are air weapons. It shouldn't matter where I base is on the map. Give us back control to place our air support where ever we want on the map. We absolutely rely on air power and when we have to flyer our choppers from the single designated position at the top of the enemy HEX to say the bottom of the HEX that's 2-3 minutes eaten up. So ...add another 2-3 minutes of time to rogue faction bases only right?
i was addicted to attacking bases playing all day.. now w this world map, it makes it hard for me to attack other bases. Slower and i liked the point where i can attack random people as it use to show what levels/bases you can attack.. Im disappointed in the upgrade, and wish the old way was available. I use to just mess w people all day attacking their resources all day...
you guys should have had me on the Beta testing for this. I volunteer to be a War Commander Beta Tester and we could have had a better launch I think. But good job overall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't even VIEW the frigging map. It's gone from a game I used to like a bit to a game where I can't even connect to the map server. I'm sitting here with the base I've spent time getting sorted with no way to gain resources enough to defend myself or raise the quality of my buildings.
Update is awesome. Old game play was for lazy simple minded people. This game is 100 times better than before. Don't let these haters discourage you because they can't accept change. Everyone else give it a try more than 1 time and I bet you will like the new "War Commander"

People playing this who are complaining about this whole multi base thing. Facts are they are turning the game into funner versions of Evony and three Kingdoms xD
I used to love backyard monster. Spent a lot os money too. But when you created that outpost an allow players to have multiple bases.... it just became insane. You had to spend hours just to manage your outposts. And I had only 14!!! You just turn another good game into crap. Besides.... I gave up of backyard too.

I just started playing yesterday. Seemed pretty cool...then this just complicates things. Back to Battle Pirates for me
Tried it and i can't say i'm thrilled. I'll keep trying but knowing myself, i'll probably gonna get bored of it's complexity pretty soon.

Yes you can. When you attack something you have the option to use your air units.

You don't need to move them. When you attack a base they will automatically become available.

Because by default they are on your attacking team, you don't need to waste platoon space deploying to an enemy base.
When will you be upgrading the new version? And by upgrade, I mean change it back

Except for the air units control, this is a decent upgrade.

i would really much like to choose between new and old format. if we delete the staging area we cant even attack others or use the map

i think it should be like BYM where u can have world map by choice only if u want it
Here's a suggestion, free of charge. Give every one a "Hero" war machine to develop. A Mech for instance?

when u attack a base...air units are also under the dispatch at the side bar.
Its like the whole game now is about fighting the computer and not other people

i need help since the update schudle nr2 last night i get a error message called the plug-in has gone stuck : shockwave flash.

I want to be able to message other players. I want clans. Then again this gives me time to build up for the inevitable clan day.

how is it difficult? you attack players to gain resources, or you attack rebel bases and gain resources. I don't see how that is difficult.
