    Although born in Barcelona in 1826, Jaques (or Jaime) Bosch lived most of his life in Paris, and his music reflects these two musical roots. He was a close friend of the famous painter, Edouard Manet.
    My guitar is tuned to 415 pitch, with gut and silk strings, plucked with a no-nail technique, as was common at the time. The tuning from the bass to treble is DGDGBE.

    Exceptionally delicate and beautiful. I too could spend the day listening to your art. I am fast becoming a life long fan. My instrument is the piano but I do love guitar and lute music. I have idolized Julian Bream and have listened to lots of his recordings on You Tube. I look forward to exploring more of your art. Just the type of music that sits in the "Goldie locks" zone.

    Hello Rob
    I’m enjoying your channel, and playing. I love these Bosh pieces, and the sound you produce on your guitar is irresistible. I’ve just ‘bought you a coffee’. And am seriously considering getting a Flamenco guitar. Thanks again, Andy. 👍

      Thanks for the “coffee”! I raised the action slightly on my flamenco guitar, just by placing a couple of thin strips of card under the bridge insert, changed the strings, job done. Easy. Good luck!

    I was listening to your "Romantic Spanish Guitar" album and the Bosch pieces immediately stood out to me as strikingly melancholy and beautiful, so I decided to come here and see if you'd made a video of them... I'm so glad you have! Your videos inspired me to start teaching myself classical guitar a few weeks ago (after casually playing steel-string and electric for a decade) and I think Venise is a piece I'll be able to tackle with the help of this video. Hope you're doing well sir. Thank you.

    • @RobMacKillop1
      @RobMacKillop1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. It's in an unusual tuning, 6th string is D, 5th string is G. To get a better foundation, I suggest you buy Solo Guitar Playing Volume 1, by Frederick Noad. It's the book I used to teach myself initially. Good luck! Rob

    • @RobMacKillop1
      @RobMacKillop1  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers, Andrew. It's a Camps Amazon flamenco guitar with Indian rosewood back and sides. I raised the action a little, and put on gut and silk strings from Aquila. I play without nails. The sound has a clarity I don't get from classical guitars, plus the warmth of the strings and technique. Flamenco guitars are constructionally closer to guitars of Tãrrega's time.

    Your tuning -- sorry for sounding like an amateur -- which is what I am ... is that considered open G ? Thanks much and cheers!

    • @RobMacKillop1
      @RobMacKillop1  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are no bad questions. Technically it is G6 tuning, as it still has an E for the first string. Open G tuning is DGDGBD, whereas this is DGDGBE. It's a fairly well-used tuning for the classical guitar.

    Why tuned to 415? Was that what Bosch intended?

    • @RobMacKillop1
      @RobMacKillop1  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pitch was lower in those days, plus I'm using gut and silk strings, which will break if I tune them to 440.

    • @tateharmann3057
      @tateharmann3057 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the days of Mr. Bosch concert pitch wasn't as of yet standardized (it still isn't really in the strict sense). See here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concert_pitch#19th-_and_20th-century_standards
